Chairpersons Report
Good tnoming and welcome.
Thanks for coming alon￿. A brief rvap on the year gone by.
Leas¢ renewal:
The updated lease agreemeni was colnpleted this year. The review was years overdlle throu(Fh no fault of
ours. It was not a Straighrfoti¥ard process. It took months of negotiation. I can assure you thac we fought hard
for a fair deal. A sharp rise was inevitable given the rise in costs since the tnitia] agreement. We evenwally
settled on a compromise which will resuli tn a £12 increase in membership fees for next yeor.
We have also decided Th￿ any Tnember of p¢nsionable age, Icurrenily 66) ￿1]1 be eligible for a free boat rack.
Quality club award:
We have, for the third year in suc¢¢ssion. been awarded quality Club ststs￿. This involves a ihorough and
honest self-a5sessment and scruiiny of a]1 aspects of the club including equality, diversiiy and inclusion,
govemance and safeguarding.
Communieation:
Community WhatsApp group has proved succe&$￿1. Whilst the official platforni for Club is email, the
WhatsApp is swifter and more convenient.
Club se55ions:
In the sumrner months we coniinued with the fornjat inm)duced two years ago, with the 3 different types of
Tuesday TT and the skills session. For the skills s¢ssion we gav¢ more experienced paddlers the choice of
going for a group paddle. We have coniinued with whole club trnining sessions. Whilsr Still allowing
individuals to achieve training goals this approach h&s a]lowed mor¢ Interactio￿fjeamJng between members.
Winter format:
We have altered ihe fomiat slightly on a Tuesday so that we offer a club Tun at 6pm. Juniors ar¢ welcome but
Tnust be accolnpanied by an adult. Ai 7pm we have a gym session for seniors. We have a novic&junior gjm
session on a Thursday at 6pm lead by Ann. during which there is a paddle machine session. Ai 7pm we have
an adult gym session. Number5 have been low for the adult gym sessions. If the nwnbers don't increase
before Chrisimas we may reduce the number to one session per week.
C&T session5 & beginner courses:
We had 6 C&T 5ession.% on Saturdays. 2 paddle stsrt eOUT5es with 13 attendees, 4 paddle di3wver courses
with 36 attendees and i paddle camps with 15 allendees. Which res￿lted in 23 new members.
Katy and team of helpers gav¢ up lots of tirne ond enthusi&sm for these courses.
Training tourses:
This y¢ar the club provided cor¢ coach cour* for 6 tnembers. This w&g fi]nded by a bursary from Paddle UK.
Raclllg:
We fielded healthy t¢ams for ourregional rnces as well as for sorn¢ out of region races. achieving some
strong results. These will be recognized at our awards ¢ventng on D¢cember 6.
Support Staff:
Thank5 to Michele, Denise, Katy and all those who helped suppon the catering at the club and at the home
races. Thanks to Steve for continuing his role in keeping our fleet ofboats on the water.

Treasurers Report
There are copies of the accounts dotted around and these x¢¢ounts reflect our income and expenditure to 30th
September 2025. Wendy Guy has kindly reviewed them.
On the incorne side. despite the lack of new members last summer (on talkino to other clubs we were not
alone in this situation). we tnanaged to incre￿ our ￿[al income slightly. We are now eaming interest on our
sayings. race fees are collected in quicker and thi5 summer's courses and paddle ¢amps not only Tais¢d fee
income bui have generated a g(K>d growth in mernbeTship which we should see refle¢ted in the current year,
accounts. (Duc io our accounts year end and tnembership year end beino different we are slightly out of
sync.) We received a £500 grdnr from Paddle UK which was put towards the ￿tAing costs for coaches and
w¢ are hoping to pursue more gfdnl income in the curreni year. mainly frotn local organisations.
On the exp¢nditure side, we pur¢ha5ed one new boat at the siart of this year and at the end of the year
invemed £4.200 in new kit. Nigel has already mentioned our length}. and somewhat frusrTating negotiations
with the school in ternis of the rent and setvice Charge increase. Our costs for these gotng forward will be
just over £1 1.000 per year, as opposed tt) £6400. a 73 /D increase. Although the rent is fixed now until
January 2029. we could see annual incr¢a5es in the service charge {the bulk of this cost) $0 we always have
this iT) the back of our minds when considering new expendicure.
Most of the service charge is to cover cleaning costy so we need to report any dirry area5. Also maintenance
issues should be reported.
The catering team have generated a £2000 profit and this. together with the profit W¢ Tnake from hosting
races and tunning course& enabled us to sllbsidise the Christmas Award ceremony as we don't cover our
¢osts for this. The Particlpation Grani is also available. This aims to enable participation in club a¢iivities
which may otherwise noi be possible for some of our members. for exomple helping with race fe¢s. Delails
of this can be found on the website and applications should be made to the Chair or myself.
Finally. w¢ will contrnue with Freeagent for race fee invoicing, and WebColle¢i for membership.
Subscriptions
The leas¢ and service tharges have been re-negotiated with the school, as expected the charge5 have
increased, so we will ne¢d to rdise sub5¢ripiions by £12 for the coming y&ir. The new charges are below.
We already otTer a free boat rack for coaches, this year It h&$ been decided to ¢xtend thi5 off¢r to all member5
of pensionabl¢ age. currently 66.
