Chairpersons Report
Thank vou for cotning.
Start with the training sessions we have been offeTing this year. as you probably know we are a bit low on
coaching staff &% we have lost 6 coaches in the p&%t y¢ar.
We have had to do the besi wtth what we have goi. despite this we have managed to increase the number of
s¢ssions on offer. We are offerÉno
. 3 weights sessions. 2 aerobic sessions, a cltsb & morning 5wirn, plus
there is still Saturday & Sunday paddles.
Starting on 7th Jan we have 4 pool sessions book￿ at Tiddenfoot to tsk¢ boats in the pool. w¢ did this a few
years ago, it was successful & enjoyabl¢. A SI￿ up list will be going Out soon, make $0 if It is popular
everyone will g¢t a go.
In th¢ Summer the original Tuesday ¢lub Kl 6K time trial has been mixed up a bil now with a 4 week cy¢le
of Kl 6K. Slapton & bacL K2 6K and an a]1 club session. Some were for the change and some against, but
overall the feedback has been positive. It weni well and Allendance did not drop off. whith is positive.
A loi of the work with the new training plans have corne from the waching t¢am headed by Chris.
RecruitmenL we 135 attend the ¢orn¢ & ny sessions, which resulted in 52 people sÈgned up for beginners
Courses. from that we gained i4 new members. Some Members hav¢ left thi5 ye￿. but ov¢rall we have
increased our membership this year. li is ni¢e to see a Tnixture of new members have joined us. Thank you to
the team that helped with recrnittnent & Carly for c(x)rdinating.
Quite a lot of new members hav¢ vennwed out and joined in the rdces this year, nol only our local r¥¢s but
races further afield &s w¢ll.
We were 1st at the Chelmsford H&sler, which was good. bui dropped to 3Td at Cambridge. we must keep this
momentum going.
We were 8th at the Hasler finals, which is a gr￿ achievement as we are not a big club.
We were 20th at the National Marathon Championships
The catering team is a very importani part of the club, it forn)s the social hub of the club and an importani
income generator. Nigel has asked Sue to coniinue the tuck shop. she has weed if there can b¢ more
people r¢gularly manning the tuck shop to reduce the burden on one person.
At our Winter series race last January they raised over £200 in profiL at our Hasler in June and then they did
the catering for the LB Tri Club kids triathlon evenL these two events raised over £IOOO in profit for the club,
the R¢membrdn¢e Day maTathon a ￿Uple of weeks ago they raised over £300. You can see how important
it is for revenue, these are the things that make other clubs come to ow races as we provide great catering and
a lovely ambian¢e.
For the club w¢ also have the club shop which Bev coordinates.
Michelle has stood for volunteer ¢oordinaior this coming year. we are going io start up a cleaning ro￿ if
ev¢ryone iak¢s a tum to sweep & mop we will only have to do it a couple of times a year.
We have Spent quite a lot of money on new boats this year. We have bought 3 mini Vipers for the kids 3
Hobbies, one of which was notsted by David Shipway's family. who sadly passed away last year. We iiave
also bought a lets K2 & a Nelo K2.
I would like to thank Steve for looking afierthe boats.
The school and facilities, when l stood for ¢hair I promised to mak¢ il tq) of My agen￿ I have to say I
haven't done as well as I wished with thaL The ¢hanging rooms siill aren't to the standard that we should be
seeing. With the lease, John & I have been to meetings and we have asked them to put a propo•l fon¥ard
and they just haven't. However, what we are payints for these facÉlities is whai was set in 2014 and prices
have gone up treTn¢ndously since then. They can't back date iL so whilsÈ it does need to be done, every day it
doesn't happen is g¢N)d for us.
