TRUSTEES’ REPORT
YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2024
The Members of the Executive, which includes the Trustees of the charity have pleasure in presenting their report and financial statements for the year ended 30 SEPTEMBER 2024.
THE CHARITY
Black Minority Ethnic Television, Film and Media (BME TVFM ) is a non profit voluntary organisation. It is registered with the Charity Commission under numbe 1099419. Charitable Status was obtained on 19[th] September 2003.
BMETVFM is a Foundation with strategic aims. It has launched a series of foundation and learning opportunities that had a clear path towards employment in the creative industries or elsewhere. We are here to support disadvantaged communities with fewer opportunities in the work place, with fewer learning opportunities and with fewer recreation and leisure opportunities.
REVIEW OF THE BUSINESS AND ACTIVITIES DURING THE YEAR
BME TV celebrates a year of empowering young people into media, with work based learning opportunities and addressing key issues with our young audience like climate change. We gratefully acknowledges our funders’ vital support.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
We remain an entirely volunteer organisation delivering projects reflecting the priorities and opportunities with the volunteers’ resources available. In our financial review, we recognise steady progress thanks to sponsors and new partnerships. However, we remain mindful of our reliance on volunteers and will continue developing our ethos as we approach our 22nd year of active operations.
FUTURE
We are proud to have progressed our partnership with the National Express Foundation last year, supporting 40 young people towards employment related opportunities. This year, we aim to expand these opportunities, focusing on raising awareness of green jobs and tackling climate change through collaborative partnerships. We also plan to build on our work supporting young people into the music industry, helping them develop their own business ventures. We have committed to reviewing our strategy, resources, and community relevance — acting strategically and collaboratively, rather than competitively, to support even more young people.
