THE MAWNAN ANVIL TRUST CHAIRMAN'S REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31° AUGUST, 2024. The year's end marked the 20th.anniversary of the Trust as a charty entered into the Charity Commission's national register for Éngland and Wales. With 20 years, experience to draw vpon, l am hopeful that most of the major challenges that the Trust can expert to fate have been met and overcome and the year just past, while not Lsneventful, has been relatbvely smooth. The year began with an upgrading of the lights in units 1. 2, and 3 to low energy LED. at a cost of £646 and of dlrect benefrt to the tenants. The roof has also been subject to rather more than routine maintenance wlth work to the roof lights and tiles, some of which have been slipping. The aged Monitor $c￿en and malfuDCtionin8 Media Player were replaced.. £379. Durlng this summer, J Badger was engaged to undertake stainlng of claddin8 and painting of walls: £1,442. Together with the voluntary work of Clare Lake in refurblshln8 and restocking the planters thi5 has helped to offer an attrartive and welcoming appearance to the Craft Centre. The tenants have remained unchanged with our two longest tenants entering the tenth year of their tenancy. All of the tenants ore noted for produclng work of the highest quality and are an asset to the village. One tenant, the blacksmith. has attrarted the attention of the Arts Council and, In cooperation with the Trust as landlord. Is currently applying for grant aid to replace the courtyard gates. l am pleased to report thethanks of the Trust to our president, Mrs. Ruth Sawyer, for opening her garden at Penwarne to the public. Although the amount this year, £632, was less than our pre-CQVtd openln8s, It 15 Still a very welcome additron to our fvnds. l am pbeased to report that our finances are sound and in good order for the future.
