We have an amazing team of 60 volunteers. Our volunteers support all aspects of our work across seven days each week and fifty weeks per year. The success of each of our activities and internal fundraising such as penny collection boxes, sponsored events, bag packing and our free food service is only possible thanks to our volunteers.
Founded on simple values of service before self, caring, compassion, gentleness, understanding, inclusion and a strong belief in the potential of all in our community, we, the Trustee’s of Team Oasis have a vision to establish a steadfast Charitable venture that continually opens opportunity, eliminates exclusion, builds self esteem, raises aspirations and alleviates the consequence of disadvantage and poverty. Team Oasis shall continually strive to serve all in our community regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, abilities or faiths.
Therefore, it has been a real pleasure, once again, for all honorary members to witness the steady development of our charitable efforts over this past twelve months, effectively our 21st year of operations. We like to take this annual report opportunity to briefly reflect the development of our Charity.

Our coordinator Paul Nilson continued his tireless work to secure the necessary financial support to develop our presence and effectiveness in our community. His dedication has been total. We, the Trustee’s, would like to thank Mr Nilson for his

perseverance. He has also been primarily responsible the strategic approach to achieving a secure fiscal base plus the increase in variety of projects and activities. We are so proud of the development, passion and devotion that each member of our team brings to Team Oasis. Collectively they continue to make the most positive impact on thousands of young lives and families each year. Our board and all at Team Oasis are so fortunate to have a wonderful team with such excellence, skills, compassion, humanity and beautiful graces. Unfortunately, Paul was extremely ill in December 2022, rushed to hospital, were he had a series of tests over subsequent months including blood tests, MRI’s, CT Scans, Bone Scans and Biopsy. In February 2023 Paul was diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer and immediately placed onto a treatment plan of Hormone injections and Radiotherapy. His treatments will continue for a minimum of two years. However, thankfully his prognosis is very good. Obviously, he had to limit his Managerial duties for some months but is now back to full operational capacity. Paul is resilient and a rock for our team.

This year has been a continued year of investing strategically into areas that will help to secure our future. We invested an additional £20,000.00 into a lease on a massive parcel of land in South Liverpool that will enable Team Oasis to deliver what will become one of Liverpool’s foremost environmental/ecological learning centres supporting our young people in how to grow their own food, prepare that produce and thanks to our continued investment into our Free Food Lounge and £10,000.00 Chef salary, we can teach them how to safely cook that food. Skills that can be transferred to their home lives.
Having access to this amazing parcel of land in South Liverpool, alongside the genuine support of the land owner, seriously opens up the potential for Team Oasis to realise our long held dream of creating a beautiful bespoke, sports, performing arts and creative media centre. Our plans dfor this new centre now extend to supporting older teenagers and adults with special/additional needs during the daytime and switching to our core beneficiaries as a totally inclusive early intervention childrens charity from 4.00pm each day and weekends. We are convinced that this development will further enhance our objective of achieving self-sustainability. Obviously, for the build of the centre, we shall require substantial external capital grant support.
I am delighted to say that we have also invested significantly into our centre, securing ownership of our centre and adding a minimum of £140,000.00 onto our asset base. Furthermore, we developed this onto securing planning permission to expand our centre. Once again, real strategic investment. We also, maintained our commitment to our Free Respite Caravan Holidays. A critical element of our aims to support our community out of the debilitating affects of this past decade of spiralling deprivation.
This was only possible thanks to the awesome support of our community, uk trusts and foundations. Thanks to the amazing support of The Edward Gostling Foundation of £75,000.00 re core cost support, plus an additional £25,000.00 from The Garfield Weston Foundation, plus the approximately £25,000.00 from The Holiday Activity Fund (MPAC/SUTTON TRUST/LCVS). An 18,000.00 grant from The PH Holt Foundation, alongside a further £10,000.00 donation from ADWF and The Barnabas Trust ensured that our Free food Lounge was sustained.
These are massivley challenging times for all Charities but I do believe that investing into the future is a positive way to encourage our community and help to secure our future.
Previously the three tranches of support totalling £25,000.00 from The John R Murray Foundation, £65,000.00 from The Garfield Weston Foundation, £25,000.00 from The Julia & Hans Rausing Foundation, phase two support from The National Lottery Community Fund was amazing. Receiving £48,000.00 from The Julia and Hans Rausing Foundation has been a massive boost. Success with our major Capital Application to The Department of DCMS administered by BBC Children in Need was another transformative moment that shall impact on the quality of life for families in our community for many years. Thanks to the magnificent support of The Weston Family 60th Anniversary Fund of £150,000.00 Team Oasis has been able to introduce to our community an amazing ‘state of the art’ multi media suite including a professional recording studio, community radio station and film-making editing suite. This in addition to the amazingly steadfast support from The Garfield Weston Foundation is just unbelievable. The support of The Leathersellers Company Charitable Trust over these past years has been an awesome foundation to develop our effectiveness and profile. Guaranteed support over a set period of time, such as that provided by The Leathersellers Co is extremely rare for a small charity like Team Oasis and as

Weston Foundation acts as the glue that funds those other costs without which a Charity such as Team Oasis couldn’t hope to function. Team Oasis was empowered to introduce a fabulous MultiSports Programme thanks to the support from The Peter Harrison Foundation. The Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent fund, The Zochonis Charity, The Erach Sadri Charitable Trust, The Community foundation For Merseyside & Lancashire, The Barnabas Charitable Trust, The Rathbone Trust, The Eleanor Rathbone Trust, The Elizabeth Rathbone Trust, The Merseyside Police Community Cashback Scheme, The Greggs Foundation, The DM Thomas Charitable Trust, The 29th May Charitable Trust, The Hobson Charity Ltd Trust, Ground work UK Tesco, The MacRobert Trust, The Russell Charitable Trust, LCVS and the support of Tesco, Coop and Marks & Spencer have all made a huge contribution to the amazing successes that we have achieved with local disadvantaged children, young people and families.
Team Oasis were delighted and honoured to receive our second ‘Children and Young People Now Award’. This terrific national award was specifically awarded to our Charity for Services throughout the Covid 19 Pandemic. In particular how we adapted our services and introduced various projects and programs to accommodate the limited social movement and challenges of the pandemic. Entering into the early months of 2023, Team Oasis were also honoured to receive the British Safety Council Community Award for Health and Safety, with a particular reference to supporting the well-being of our leaders and volunteers. Team Oasis secured a number of extremely prestigious awards. Firstly, Liverpool Echo Liverpool Unites honoured Team Oasis as Liverpool’s Children’s Charity of The Year. Particular rewarding as this was voted for by Merseyside citizens. We were delighted to be honoured as Barclaycards Community Champion of The Year. Thirdly we were proud to be voted as The Liverpool Guild Of Students Children’s Charity of The Year. Prestigious Awards from Merseyside Police and in 2021 the National acclaimed award as Winners of The ‘Children and Young People Now’ award for inclusive play was a tremendous honour. In addition, we have been chosen as ‘The Charity of The Year’ for Nutricia Pro-Biotics.
Also being selected as a Charity of Choice by local branches of Tescos, Co-op and Marks & Spencers are all significant achievements that we celebrate with each of our volunteers, leaders, supporters and friends.

## Covid Response. “Team Oasis Action”
The Devastating Covid 19 Pandemic hit the world in early 2020. In March 2020 Team Oasis took the decision to cease all face-to-face activities and re-focus our efforts on ensuring the nourishment, wellbeing and health on all in our community. We immediately realised the consequence of isolation on our children, young people, families, our elderly, vulnerable and lonely. Therefore, Team Oasis immediately took emergency action intended to support our community and indeed our city.
## Team Oasis:
> 0 Offered our centre to the Liverpool City Council Covid Emergency Response Effort as a storage and distribution centre for medical supplies and food.
> 0 Similarly we offered our centre to The NHS Emergency Covid Response as a hub for medicines and PPE.
We also offered both of our vehicles and two volunteer drivers to assist with any collection or
distribution Team Oasis immediately realised the negative impact of isolation on the well-being of young people and
so began delivering toys/games, arts/craft items, learning materials, books and sporting items directly to over 400 individual children and young people
> 0 Similarly we immediately began delivering clothes, food, baby items and baby clothes to 100 local households
> 0 We also introduced five days of FREE FOOD Services at our centre which served approximately 150 families each week
> 0 In addition we realised that some particularly distressed communities across Toxteth were sadly not being
served at all. Therefore, Team Oasis began setting up mobile FREE FOOD Stalls directly at the heart of these communities
> 0 Team Oasis also introduced virtual, digital, online learning sessions each evening covering 75% of our usual activities including dance, drama, football, film-making, photography and music
This effort was universally applauded by all across our community and actually introduced Team Oasis to so many more people across all ages. In turn this has led to a number of nominations for Team Oasis to be recognised with a nomination for The Queens Award for Voluntary Services and a major two page feature in the prestigious Nationwide Journal, FC Business. Team Oasis has also since been presented with THE WINNERS AWARD as The UKs Finest Children’s Play Centre.
We continued this amazing effort supporting all in our community. Thanks to the continued support of the UK Govt Job Retention Scheme we have been able to maintain our full team. As UK economy begins to re- open, Team Oasis, has been reflecting this by safely re-introducing face-to-face activities. Obviously it has been necessary to progress this process safely and patiently with all due diligence.

It’s been a wonderfully blessed time for Team Oasis Inclusive Children’s Charity. Team Oasis was founded in Toxteth and continues to deliver its services in this community. Toxteth is listed as having one of the highest rates of child poverty in the UK. Our work serves groups experiencing social and economic disadvantage. We also support children, young people and adults with disability. Collectively our work certainly benefits communities of severe and multiple disadvantages. Our core objective over the years has included educating the masses regarding disability, thereby building awareness, understanding and removing barriers to children of all abilities growing together. Our community generally, but our young people particularly have an abundance of frighteningly easy avenues into crime. Drugs, alcohol and violence are real distressing issues and easy access to cash or drugs is often too great a sinister temptation to refuse.
“However, we can confidently say that this most diverse and cultural community has the most immense potential if given the opportunity. It remains the intention of Team Oasis to strive to ensure that this community is given the opportunity to fully realise its potential.”
History shows us that Liverpool has the capacity to give the world its greatest musicians, artists, actors, singers, politicians, philanthropists, sports people, journalists, evangelists, comedians, orators, authors, scriptwriters, presenters and the list goes on, therefore at Team Oasis we are continuously encouraged that with the right encouragement and support that Liverpool’s fine heritage will continue through today’s young people.Therefore, Team Oasis vigorously strives to open up and promote alternative positive pathways through dance, drama, singing, music, sports, holidays, youth groups and after school.
Our work is valuable as epitomised by a statement from an eminent member of our community. When asked “If Team Oasis did not exist, then what would happen?” the local resident replied “So many young people would be left isolated and disenfranchised with some of the most vulnerable young people not being engaged with. The lady went on to say that as Team Oasis deliver the biggest youth diversion project in an area of high deprivation then there would be a likelihood of ASB and a totally unnecessary number of young people being criminalized and robbed of a decent future”.
Since first delivering loads of inclusive sports, football, horse riding, dance, ballet, tap, modern, theatre group, theatre productions, dance shows, football tournaments, camping, holidays, day trips, After School Clubs, youth groups, a signing choir, kudo self defence classes, a dementia sufferers support group, a mindfulness group and a pensioners club. Team Oasis has always been quite nomadic in operations.

With never having an activity centre of our own we have always had to rent activity space or lease empty buildings in need of renovation. However, we now have a twelve year lease on a previously derelict ex-social club in The Dingle. The old Beresford Social Club on Parkhill Rd was an extremely popular and much loved social club in The Dingle for over 50 years. Falling on tough times since the turn of the century, eventually the club was forced to close in 2007. The building was closed for five years. Local youths broke in through the roof and the building was totally ransacked over a period of 4 to 5 years.. Everything was vandalised, the roof ripped apart, roofing coping stones all torn away and smashed onto the ground below. Obviously, once the building was open to the weather elements, rain poured in. All ceilings were ruined, ceiling joists, floor joists, timber floors all perished.
## THE OLD BERESFORD WHEN TEAM OASIS ADOPTED IT IN 2012
In 2012 Team Oasis did not have a centre and the remaining Beresford committee members offered the, now derelict building to Team Oasis. For two years our very small team of volunteers worked tirelessly endeavouring to create a space that was barely useable. Amazingly, we achieved a useable space. The building still had major problems with damp and major issues with drainage in two of the cubicles in the ladies WC plus a unusable trough in the boys wc.
Even in the face of these issues and more, our door opened bringing dance, drama, music and play to hundreds of Dingle Kids. Just outside the building there was a small green space that we utilised for our girls and boys football.
However, in October 2016 our damp problems got worst resulting in a chunk of ceiling plaster architrave cracking and needing repairing. I sent an urgent message out on Facebook for a suitably skilled person that could furnish this repair.
## **And this is where The Miracle Of Dingle occurred.**
A local gentleman, Antony Devine, agreed to pop along to repair the ceiling with a new plasterboard. He actually mentioned that it should only take him 10 minutes. However, when Antony arrived and seen the very sad condition of our centre he was genuinely moved and made the decision there and then that he was going to commit his business, EC Dry Wall Ltd, to totally renovating the whole centre. He arranged for his business partner, Stewart Case, to visit the centre and Stewart agreed that it was a project that EC Dry Wall should deliver. EC Dry Wall Ltd wanted to commence the renovation immediately and so Team Oasis had to relocate its activities to other bases.
## THE RIP-OUT UNDERWAY WITH EC DRY WALL LTD
In November 2016 Antony, Stewart and six of their workforce began a total rip-out of our centre. They had £5000.00 of building materials donated. Shortly afterwards we had news from Vincent Bernard of IKO Roofing materials in Wigan that they were prepared to offer all roofing materials.
REINSTATING ALL NEW ELECTRICS, WALLs, PLUMBING, ROOF, JOINERY. All of this work has been completed for FREE by Antony Devine, Stewart Case of EC Dry Wall Ltd, plus support from their workforce and lots of support from various sub-contractors and friends including Paul Edwards Electric, Joe Harvey of Renaissance Roofing, Vincent Bernard of IKO Roofing Supplies.

## Primary Objectives & Methods
Our primary goals of inspiring all in our community using a tremendous array of exciting, innovative, adventurous and totally inclusive activities have been our prime method of encouraging and promoting opportunity. When we established Team Oasis, we wanted to introduce a Charity that offered a totally open door policy to encourage local children of all abilities, backgrounds and circumstances to participate in sports, basketball, football, disability football, arts, hip-hop dance, ballet, jazz/modern, performing arts/singing, drama and theatre group and after school clubs. For this financial period, I am delighted to announce that Team Oasis has added a new dimension to its repertoire which is creative media.
Our creative media division which we refer to as ‘Oasis Creative’ arranged a cultural/historic visit to WW1 Commonwealth War Graves at Ramskappel in Belgium. The whole experience was filmed and a project recording the event followed. In addition to this we also have day trips, camping trips and weekend holidays to local holiday centres.
Encouraging children with disability to participate and engage with children without disability is probably our core objective. Equally, also encouraging children that may live in severely povertystricken environments or other dire circumstance to engage with children from decidedly more comfortable surroundings is a method that we have found to bare much universal fruit. Friendships blossom, children learn, understanding flourishes, aspiration abounds and through delivering excellence through our sports, arts and after school leaders, growing self-confidence and self-esteem is abundant.

With recent years showing 2008/09 a deficit of £22,964.00 and 2009/10 a deficit of £3,363.00 it is a pleasure to report a surplus for 2010/11 of £15,111.00 a surplus for 2011/12 of £8,058.00, a surplus for 2012/13 of £5,068.00, a surplus for 2013/14 of £4,503.00, a surplus for 2014/15 of £1,279.00, a surplus for 2015/16 of £25,626.00 a surplus for 2016/17 of £49,643.00. These were followed by a deficit for 2017/18 of
£14,445.00, a 16,888.00 surplus 2018/19, a £33,000.00 deficit for 2019/20, a £80,230.00 surplus for 2020/21 and a £70,330.00 surplus for 2021/22, a deficit of £60,567.00 for 2022/23, a small deficit for 2023/24 of £28,000.00 and now a small surplus of approximately £1000,00 we can be rightly pleased, with our positive improvement since the years of banking crisis and extreme austerity, Brexit and pandemic.An overall surplus of £111,000.00 since 2008. This is reflected in our asset situation. The Trustee’s at Team Oasis are obviously pleased with the overall direction of fiscal travel with a significant increase in assets and manageable liabilities. We believe that Team Oasis has proven itself worthy of respect for taking the necessary action through difficult and challenging economic turbulence. When one considers that since being established in 2003 Team Oasis has sustained and developed through a global banking crisis, austerity, a number of recessions and the economic consequences of a global pandemic, I would hope that all of our friends are assured that not only does Team Oasis have a massive heart to serve, we also have the resolve, credentials and vision to sustain and develop. Once again, our little Charity leads our community through recent hard years. Steadfastness and resolute are qualities which we endeavour to impress on our leaders and on those beneficiaries of Team Oasis activities. Still, we are re-assured in the knowledge that our internal

funding is probably at less than twenty five percent of its potential. We shall be striving to achieve a greater percentage of its potential over the following years. Obviously, the pandemic restrictions continued to impact on the development of collecting internal funding. Team Oasis is financially strategically stronger to face these current economic conditions and look forward to the future. Team Oasis took some sensible cost reduction action in 2010/11and 2011/12. These decisions along with our decision to refurbish an old centre as our short-term activity base have saved Team Oasis approximately £75,000.00 over financial years 2011-2016.

I would like to believe that through these extremely serious and challenging national fiscal austerity measures, that Team Oasis has shown a resolute, steadfast and professional approach to fiscal control. This steadfast appliance to managed cost reduction has returned a positive equity on our balance sheet. This has not been easy to achieve and has taken belief, patience and the extremely valuable support of some very dear friends and Charitable Trusts. Perseverance with our fiscal policy over these past years has sustained a strong adherence to sensible costs management. It would be widely recognised that Team Oasis has achieved a period of steadfastness in its finances. However, we still believe that a target annual income of approximately four hundred thousand pounds remains a realistic and appropriate target in order to achieve future aims and objectives each year. Therefore, we believe that our stature in the community, along with our consistency of delivery of services together with our strict fiscal realigning allows us to be reasonably confident that we remain on target to eventually reach our objectives. Every effort remains with regards to developing internal funding streams which ultimately should be the foundation of our efforts.

## Reserves.
Team Oasis has strategic reserves objective of generating reserves of at least £20,000.00 over by April 2025.
Our total reserves at 5[th] April 2025 are £175,000.00 with £35,000.00 un-restricted reserves and £140,000.00 restricted reserves
Team Oasis assets are quite strong and set to improve further for 2024-25. as we hopefully invest into our activity centre. Considering this, alongside our acceptible liabilities allows for modest confidence. It is also worth acknowledging that our employment policy is to develop our team on short fixed term contracts.
Our future reserves target is for one full years expenditure by April 2027

## Summary Of The Impact Of Covid and previous Global & National Austerity Measures.
One only has to look at the devastating impact of the Covid 19 Pandemic and recent austerity measures have had on all sectors of society. Community groups and Charities are certainly not immune from such impacts. Indeed, over these past few years, we have heard of numerous job losses, redundancies and the closure of well-respected and well managed voluntary organisations.
## Team Oasis Action To Alleviate The Long Term Consequences Of The Covid 19 Pandemic and Economic/Social Crisis Across Our Community.
Throughout the pandemic Team Oasis took rapid positive action to support our community as detailed previously. Since then, and recognising that addressing the long term economic, social and health implications of this pandemic on our community, Team Oasis has introduced:
- A free food bank
- Removed 90% of our subscription fees
- Began converting our tuck shop area into a fully functioning kitchen and free food lounge
- Planned the introduction of our free breakfast bar ensuring that all children have access to free nutritious breakfast food before School
- Planned the introduction of our free Brunch and Lunch Clubs and Warmth Hubs for our most vulnerable local residents
- Purchased a second static caravan to ensure that we can offer even more critical respite holiday services to assist our families to recover as quickly as possible from the pandemic and subsequent financial crises.
## **What Of Team Oasis.**
Obviously, excluding the UK Governments Job Retention Scheme, Team Oasis has not had the advantage of receiving any central government, direct European or Liverpool City Council statutory funding. Obviously, this meant that Team Oasis was primarily dependent on funding from local and national Trusts and Foundations. In addition, we made early strategic plans to develop a whole host of

Charities. These times are indeed extremely challenging, however and in hindsight due to the fact that we had never received any statutory funding and acknowledging that the austerity measures have certainly impacted on statutory funding rather severely then we believe that we have aligned ourselves at a place that gives us hope to weather the current financial difficulties and look optimistically to the future. This is no mean feat by Team Oasis. This can be confirmed when one considers that three local providers of children’s services have ceased delivering their services with one actually closing completely. This leaves Team Oasis as the only provider of totally inclusive child/youth services in South Liverpool. More children than ever are joining Team Oasis activities. This is partly due to the genuine quality of our services plus the excellence of our leaders but it is fair to assume that our compassionate fee structure definitely encourages children to attend through austere times. This can also be attributed to the general increase in our profile across our city and county. When Team Oasis was established we had approximately 5% of all participants that had a Special Need or Disability. This figure is now in the region of 50%. When considering that Team Oasis serves a community, L8 4RN, that has the highest levels of Child and Elderly Poverty, one can only begin to realise the immense vital importance of our services.

## Recording Serious Incidents
We had a complaint made against Team Oasis. This was reported to the local LADO and considered by the Charity Commision with a NFA outcome.Team Oasis does have an adventurous and ambitious repertoire of activities for the children and young people. However, I am pleased to say that our diligent and professional approach to safety, risk assessment and H&S has once again ensured that attendees of Team Oasis activities remain safe.

Team Oasis was established on a solid platform to deliver totally inclusive activities for the children and young people in our community. One forum for achieving this was through our School Links project. An excellent project which allows us to work with a small group of children from a local School for a six week period. During this time we go horse riding, bowling, ice skating and a visit to a local inclusive children’s organisation. However, we were faced with a dilemma. Having worked with these children for six weeks and after having such a wonderful time we believed that more could be done. Therefore, we introduced weekly sessions in dance, hip-hop, ballet, singing, drama, football, basketball, tennis, theatre group and other such sessions. These sessions were open for all to attend. The resulting explosion of activities has resulted in a massive increase in children attending but at a short-term cost to our School Links Project. All of our activities remain totally inclusive but little time has been left in our week for our core School Links and Community Links project. However, thanks to the introduction of our Creative Media Programme (Oasis Creative), we can look forward to linking with all local Schools over future years exploring informative and inspirational ideas to engage with all pupils and students through media, film-making and looking to open dialogue regarding issues of isolation, bullying, lack of aspiration, well-being and mental health.

However, we were faced with a dilemma. Having worked with these children for six weeks and after having such a wonderful time we believed that more could be done. However, I am delighted to say that thanks to support from BBC Children In Need we have re-introduced this mobile activity once again. All of our activities remain totally inclusive.
Expansion and management of expansion to increase our capacity should ensure that general growth is maintained whilst sufficient time is allocated to our core projects. This can only be good news for the children and young people in this most needy of communities.
## **12. Liverpool Kids ‘From Plant to Plate’ Project.**
This will be a fantastically transformative project that will have 48 children and young people enjoying practical, ‘hands-on’ learning about growing their own food at a specially designated learning zone on our land. The fruit and vegetables that they grow will then be harvested and taken back to our centre. At our centre they shall be instructed by our Chef, Amanda, on how to safely prepare their produce for cooking. Obviously, the final element will be Amanda teaching them on how to prepare various meals with their food. These skills can then be transferred to their homes, introducing nutritious healthy meals into their families. In the light of the current debilitating ‘cost of living’ crisis, transferring this learning to their families is another critical feature of this project.
However, the project does not end there. The young people will also be involved in planting an amazing 300 trees of various varieties. We shall have an experienced Bee-Keeper involved and the children will have the pleasure of supporting our Bee Hives. Furthermore, our children and young people will be learning about the importance of protecting our nature, our environment, ecology, wildlife, wildflower, all fauna, flora, birds, invertebrates and insects. All aspects of forest learning will be incorporated with a large spoonful of inclusive fun. We look forward to harvesting our own honey.
We are also in discussion with local and national media exploring the possibility of Team Oasis introducing a new amateur weather centre as part of our environmental program. Hoping that these can lead to a regular weather update on national children’s programme. :-)
Similarly, following on from our two appearances on The BBC ‘The One Show’ and local BBC Radio, we have now been invited to promote our young actors and dancers for actual TV Roles.
Our Environmental Project will evolve over the next twelve months and will require the purchase of a 40’ Metal Container, Sheds, Greenhouses, Outdoor Learning Space, more Planters, Woodland Play Equipment and a Portacabin.

In brief, Team Oasis is indeed a beautiful charity and absolutely everything that we do is driven by serving the needs of our children and alleviating the dreadful burdens on our community.
Team Oasis is cherished by all in our community and delivers the most emphatic range of positive activities, services and projects. Including:
- We feed the over 400 hungry mouths with nutritious, healthy hot/cold food each week through our free food lounge, free pre-school breakfast club and our free brunch club for our elderly and lonely every week.
- In addition we also deliver possibly the largest midweek free food bank in our city.
- We have a superbly qualified and experienced part time chef, Amanda that serves up hot and cold nutritious health food at each of our food events.
- Amanda effectively manages our Food services. This includes our Wednesday Wellness with Reiki, Adult Arts & Craft, Healthy eating guidance & support, Weight loss management and beautiful affirmation jars.
- We also have a free internet cafe twice each week to support our seniors with any IT access that they might need.
- Just recently we have delivered a number of free electrical PAT testing days, helping to ensure that their portable electrical items are safe.
- What was once our tuck shop is now our food lounge and every child/young person that attends Team Oasis every day has access to healthy snacks. Presently that is over 400 young people each week.
- We believe in the potential of every child and deliver such a fabulous diverse range of arts/sports/play/adventure/environmental projects so as to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to explore and eventually realise that potential.
- We bring friendship, understanding, awareness and respect between all children of all abilities, backgrounds and services.
- We transform lives, inspire young people to aspire, boost confidence, self-esteem, upskill and ensure that our children, families and our elderly need never feel lonely, isolated or not valued.

## **14. Capital Plans**
## **CONVERTING OUR BASEMENT INTO A DESIGNATED YOUTH CENTRE.**
As mentioned previously, we now own our centre. This is a massive plus as it has helped us to secure planning permission to convert our basement into a youth hub. This youth hub will be the only such space for our young people.
We have been patiently building a team of excellent volunteer youth workers. We now have 13 superb youth workers ready to begin our first phase mentoring.
In addition, we have the community on board with this initiative and importantly, the parents of the hard to reach young people are signed up to help. Our new hub will be focused primarily on working and positively engaging with those hard to reach young people.
Our pledge to our community is that we expect to take upto 90% of the ASB off our streets, reducing fear whilst encouraging those young people onto positive pathways with excellent mentoring, adventurous activities and superb careers support.
Converting our basement will cost no more than £800,000.00.
## **15. Performing Arts, Sports & Creative Media Centre.**
As we now have a lease on a superb 8 acres parcel of land in South Liverpool, we can begin the introduction of phase one of our environmental/ecological learning program. This will include the introduction of our ‘From Plant to Plate’ project as detailed earlier.
This land also offers lots of opportunities to develop our DofE program, our outward bounds sessions and create both grass and 4G sports pitches. These will create excellent alternatives for our football and help us to move our tennis from a multi-sport to a centre sport.
Finally, it would be wrong if we did not consider this land as a potential location for a second Team Oasis Centre. As we have no sports spaces in our existing centre, the proposed new space would be focused on sports, performing arts and creative media.
We do realise that this is a future ambition. However, in the planning we do consider that the new centre would achieve three significant advances:
* introduce a superb facility for our older teenagers and adults with disability or special needs. Our plan would be for this centre to used exclusively between 9.00am and 4.00pm for SEND Teenagers and Adults.

## Services for this age group are dire in our city
* beyond 4.00pm each evening and weekend the centre would then prioritise our core beneficiaries. This would ensure that we could treble the numbers of participants that we serve from the existing 400 up to a massive 1200 each week.
* with this amount of participants we can expect to achieve a sustainable model into future years.

## Inclusive Arts
After initial support from various organisations Team Oasis has been able to develop and expand their arts sessions within its inclusive after Schools activities. These sessions are totally inclusive and encourage children and young people of all abilities, circumstances, origins and faiths to join in. The interaction and coming together of children/young people from different quarters of our community (traditionally very territorial) has been tremendous to witness. We now have sessions in street dance, jazz, singing, music and drama. We call this side of our work “The Theatre Of Dreams”. Our arts is performance based and therefore we have regular showcase events for the children to perform and invite their parents/guardians to.
Future plans include:
- Continuing to develop our disabled students into Team Oasis leaders
- Expand our National Arts Awards ensuring that every child that attends Team Oasis arts can enjoy but also show progression and accredited attainment.
- Progress our Allied Dancing Association Grades and Medals
- Develop and integrate our amazing professional multi-media suite including recording studio, radio station and film-making editing suite.
- Continuing to develop our adult arts
- Integrating structured arts grades via Allied Dance Association and International Dance Teachers Association
- Expanding our arts into local major theatres
- Expanding our arts into a theatre production group
- Continue to develop new and exciting arts disciplines
- Developing our arts in the community program
- Introduce a Choir and Musical Ensemble
- Expand our Youth Theatre
Both our inclusive arts and inclusive sports have witnessed a moderate growth. Our arts now consists of three sessions in jazz, three sessions of street dance, three sessions in modern, three sessions in singing, three sessions in drama as well as our own performance dance classes and theatre production group. Our Theatre Production group produced and performed an amazing piece of work on Liverpool’s Famous Royal Court Theatre in December 07. This was followed by our own production of The Jungle Book “la” at the same venue. These amazing productions have been followed by major productions at The Floral Pavilion, The Epstein Theatre, The Dome Theatre, The Stanley Theatre, The Capstone Theatre, The Globe Theatre and many others.

I am also delighted to mention that Team Oasis actors and dancers have now performed alongside many celebrities at numerous Panto’s on stage at Blackpools North Pier Theatre and Fleetwoods Marine Theatre. And superbly in addition we have continued to offer international performance opportunities for our dancers and singers on various stages in Spain. Our arts continues to expand and It will be our intention to develop our arts into the community with performances in residential centres, schools and other community facilities.

## SPAIN OLE’
It is my great pleasure to confirm that Team Oasis continues to develop links with Spain. Through our inclusive arts programme 2013 had 20 young people performing at a superior quality venue in La Zenia. This was followed with a similar event in 2014. Our ambition to establish a holiday respite centre in Spain offering FREE Holidays to the most vulnerable, disadvantaged and traumatised Liverpool youngsters remains steadfast. These international performances obviously help to strengthen our Spanish links.

## Inclusive Sports
Similar to our Arts, after initial support from various organisations Team Oasis has been able to develop and expand their sports sessions within its inclusive after Schools activities. These sessions are totally inclusive and encourage children and young people of all abilities, circumstances, origins and faiths to join in. The interaction and coming together of children/young people from different quarters of our community (traditionally very territorial) has been tremendous to witness. Originally starting with one football coaching session, we now have three junior football teams in junior leagues plus girls football and football for all children with disability. We call this side of our work “The Team Oasis Sports Academy”. Our sports is totally accessible and we have a very pro-active open door policy. Therefore, children and young people of whatever skill level are encouraged into teams and have exactly the same level of access to regular sports as any other person in the Charity. Whilst concentrating on ensuring that our sports always relates directly to our Charitable Ethos and aims and objectives we have steadfastly achieved Football Association Charter Standard mark.

## Employees
Due to the tremendous support of The Henry Smith Charity during our formative years, Mr Paul Nilson was able to develop Team Oasis. The Henry Smith Charity support did help to create the foundation for future years. Paul and everybody at Team Oasis would like to thank The Henry Smith Charity for their sterling support at that time and it’s absolutely amazing that The Henry Smith Charity are once again offering steadfast support. Similarly, with the brilliant support of The Football Foundation our Inclusive Sports Development Manager, Dan Gavin, made a massive impact on our provision of local inclusive football and sports generally. The Football Foundation support has now ceased, however, we have a very strong relationship with them and as such would hope to achieve future support especially around our future capital project.. As of September 2006 we were honoured to receive amazing support from The Morgan Foundation. After assessing our most urgent need, The Morgan Foundation agreed to support our Administration. After initially arranging a job share to cover our administration, we eventually had a full time administrator for the period. That first raft of The Morgan Foundation support ceased in 2009 but again having an administrator in post for our Charity was a tremendous support. Like the Henry Smith Charity, The Morgan Foundation once again supported Team Oasis through intervening years. Team Oasis introduced a role for activity leader/internal funding development Manager, Paul Turner, during this financial period. This role was particularly successful at developing hundreds of outlets for our penny collection boxes. However, as mentioned earlier, austerity has dictated that we had to release Mr Turner before in 2012. Presently we have no positions supported by external funding therefore our current employment consists of three full time employee and four part time employees. These posts are sustained through unrestricted support plus our internal funding such as sponsored events and subscriptions. I
would like to give special thanks to the tremendous support of The Garfield Weston Foundation. Over recent years Garfield Weston has supported Team Oasis with consecutive donations of £5000.00, then
£10,000.00 followed by £20,000.00 another £20,000.00 and then an astronomic £50,000.00 in 2016/17. Garfield Weston also supported Team Oasis through their sponsorship of The Garfield Weston Challenge which, through thebiggive.org achieved approximately £16,000.00 for Team Oasis. Once again we have been honoured to be awarded Morgan Foundation Funding over this period. Alongside the Awards For All support Team Oasis have been encouraged and supported to sustain our essential work with local disadvantaged young people. For the financial period of Oct 2015 through to October 2016 I was delighted for Team Oasis to receive £15,000.00 from The Community Foundation For Merseyside and
Lancashire. This support allowed Team Oasis to employ James McLoughlin as our Development Manager. Support from Merseyside Police Community Cashback Scheme enabled Team Oasis to expand the roles of James Nilson, Julie Ferns Morgan and Grant Haskayne into delivering our ‘Young Liverpool’ Project. The support of the Weston Family 60th Anniversary Fund necessitated the development of the roles of Paul Nilson Snr, Grant Haskayne, Julie Ferns Morgan, Paul Nilson Jnr and James Nilson in order for this project to achieve its magnificent objectives. Therefore, over this past year and thanks to the support of The Weston Family 60th Anniversary Fund, The Garfield Weston Family, The National Lottery Community Fund, The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust, The Power To Change, The Fore Trust, The Charitable Aid Foundation, The Leatherseller’s Company Charitable Trust and The MacRobert Charitable Trust, to name just a few, our Team of young dynamic employees is now seven. Some Full time, some part time and some very part time. However, this is an awesome team and every effort will be made to keep them together into the future.

Community Responsibility.
The fabulous Electrical Safety First team awarded Team Oasis £5,000.00. This enabled Team OAsis to deliver a comprehensive Electrical Safety Program, including PAT testing hundreds of items from our community. Out Lord Mayor, Richard Kemp, kindly visited to launch the program. In this day and age with so many electical items, charges etc in our homes, educationg all on electrical safety is an imperative element of our community service.
Due to the stature of Team Oasis activities we now find ourselves with a significant responsibility towards our community. We are now a significant local employer and because of the sports facility hire, arts facility hire and office space hire we are fully aware of our obligation to our community’s financial prosperity.
Our small but dedicated team of Team Oasis volunteers has been refurbishing a semi-derelict exsocial club right in the heart of Toxteth for these past eighteen months. The centre is now open thereby introducing Team Oasis to even more children and young people. We are particularly keen to introduce five evenings of safe/fun after school clubs. There is a desperate need for more after School provision in our community. In our opinion this is crucial as the impact, the need and the outcomes of our work in an increasingly desperate community is so vitally important. Drugs, guns and gang culture must be met with abundantly more early intervention if we are to afford our next generations the opportunities in
life that everybody deserves. Team Oasis was founded in Toxteth and continues to deliver its services in this community. Toxteth is listed as having the highest rate of child poverty and elderly living in poverty in the UK. Quite simply, there is no other ward in the whole of the UK that has worse statistics for crime, poverty and all associated issues than the area in which our Charity works. Therefore, our work serves groups experiencing social and economic disadvantage. A further disturbing complication in our community is that for the first time in two generations we have racially motivated violence on our streets. The team at Team Oasis are of mixed ethnicity and each either lives or has lived most of their lives in Toxteth. The community trust us and we can be depended upon to deliver fair a positive change to all in our community. We also support children, young people and adults with disability. Collectively our work certainly benefits communities of severe and multiple disadvantages. Our core objective over the years has included educating the masses regarding disability, thereby building awareness, understanding and removing barriers to children of all abilities growing together. Our community generally, but our young people particularly have an abundance of frighteningly easy avenues into crime. Fraud, drug use, alcohol abuse and violence are a constant challenge to our work. Illegal access to cash or drugs is often too great a sinister temptation to refuse.

Therefore, Team Oasis vigorously strives to open up and promote multiple alternative positive pathways through dance, drama, singing, music, sports, holidays, youth groups and after school. We have always known that if you can engage with young people early enough then you can change their negative perceptions of what is expected of them in life. With excellent mentorship, excellent role models, fine ethical and moral values and, of course, with sufficient resourcing you can massively and positively impact on young lives through our early intervention processes and pretty much ensure that they grow into

At Team Oasis, we have known this but now after ten years of serving our community we can point to hundreds of lives that have been supported down such positive life paths. We can supply many, many testimonies from local families, schools and Merseyside Police to verify the impact of our work.

As mentioned earlier, Toxteth is listed on all national indices as of the highest category of deprivation. All manner of social and economic distress hangs over this community. However, we can confidently say that this most diverse and cultural community has the most immense potential if given the opportunity. It remains the intention of Team Oasis to strive to ensure that this community is given the opportunity to fully realise its potential and with your support we can continue our fine work in inspiring, encouraging, supporting and delivering thousands of young people onto positive pathways whilst ensuring that they have a solid grounding in humanity so they mature into responsible young citizens that can contribute to the greater good of society.
## 16A. Community Responsibility – TEAM OASIS FREE FOOD PROVISION
Team Oasis was founded in our community, cares about our community and is totally dedicated to serving all in our community. Therefore, when the dreadful Covid 19 Pandemic terrorised our community, Team Oasis took immediate positive action to help our community. In the midst of a range of actions we also introduced FREE FOOD STALLS in our centre and across our community. 16B. Community Responsibility -TEAM OASIS FREE RESPITE CARAVAN HOLIDAYS Thanks to The Clothworkers Foundation and there grant support of £25,000.00, Team Oasis was able to purchase a beautiful 8 Berth Static Caravan in Talacre Beach Resort Caravan Park in North Wales. Immediately we began offering our caravan to the most desperate families. These have proven to be incredibly precious holidays to families struggling with the challenges and tragedy of the pandemic. In February 2022 the Department for Digital Culture Media and Sport made a massive donation of £120,000.00 to Team Oasis. This has enabled Team Oasis to purchase a second caravan, a minibus, fabulous film making/photography equipment and essential IT equipment for office and learning. We anticipate presenting over £50,000.00 of FREE CARAVAN RESPITE HOLIDAYs to desperate families through 2022/23.
16C. Community Responsibility – TEAM OASIS FREE CAMPING AND COMMUNITY COACH TRIPS Coach trips have been a major introduction to Team Oasis during this past year. One cannot overestimate the value of bringing whole communities together with traditional day trips to the seaside or our beautiful countryside. I am delighted to say that Team Oasis has now arranged eight full coach trips for all in our community. These have proven to be exceptionally wonderful occasions, building relationships, new friendships, community cohesion and all having great fun. Totally wonderful days bringing hope to a community in distress.

## Mini Bus
I am delighted to announce that Team Oasis now has its beautiful accessible 17 Seater Peugeot Minibus and our beautiful six seater crew bus added to its mini fleet. These new vehicles will make a tremendous difference with regards to day trips, projects, mobile after school clubs, mobile parent toddler groups, field trips, Duke of Edinburgh Awards and youth groups. Can I take this opportunity to offer our most grateful thanks to The Variety Club Of Great Britain for their generosity. I can confidently predict that it will be one of the most widely used community coaches in the city. Similarly, The Morgan Foundation has entrusted Team Oasis with the Management of one of their fabulous Smiley Buses. Again with 17 seats including the driver, we now have scope to have groups of upto 34 enjoying Team Oasis outbound activities. We are also very proud of our record of supporting numerous other charitable and not for profit groups with FREE access to our minibus when available. These groups have included, The Inclusion Network, St. James In The City Church, Dingle Mount Church, OLLY, Venus, Kings Academy and YKids to name just a few.

## Team Oasis Paradise Centre
We have now had nineteen years of delivering activities utilising lots of local facilities. Obviously, we have a small activity centre on a lease. However, even with the fabulous recent renovation of our centre, nevertheless it still significantly limits our proposed plans for delivering an expanding range of activities.
Therefore, hiring additional activity space is our only alternative. Due to our understanding of the cost of facility hire and office space costs we remain focused on options for building our own purpose-built family holistic centre. A centre with sports hall, arts suite, family room, garden area, adventure swings and others. This would be an exciting development and it is right that we consider our options. However, as mentioned previously it would also be responsible for us to maintain a percentage of our existing facility hire and office rental arrangements in order to help the economy of our community. Our proposed new centre would not only facilitate our expanded plans for upto 25 football teams, 42 dance/drama sessions, film-making, recording studio, parent toddler, youth groups, after school clubs, tennis, netball, basketball, pensioners clubs, family room, play room, cafeteria, outdoor sports space and outdoor play area it would also support other community groups and local schools.

## Major Renovation Of Our Activity Centre
October 2016 – July 2017 – Aviary – Pets Corner – Sensory Room
Although spanning across two Annual Report periods, this is very good news and we will be delighted to include it in both respective annual reports. Team Oasis has had a rather nomadic existence over our first 14 years, having to use 9 different centres for our activities. We have often had to refurbish old buildings so as they were moderately suitable for our use. When one considers the amount of relocating, re-planning, regularly shifting furniture and activity equipment it is an awesome testimony to our very small team that we have never failed to deliver abundantly for our needy community. Between times of relocating and maintaining delivery of services, Team Oasis is aware that we have never had adequate resourcing to ensure that our administration and governance attained the same levels of excellence as our undoubted superb record for delivery. However, in October 2016 we had the massive good fortune of meeting a local successful businessman, Antony Devine, who amazingly decided to totally renovate the centre that we were using at that time. In the same month we were offered an extension to our 7 years lease taking the lease upto 2028. We refer to Antony’s intervention as ‘The Miracle Of Dingle’. Together with the new lease till 2028 we now have the solid foundation giving us the opportunity to massively impact on a whole generation of children, young people, pensioners, parent/toddlers in fact the whole family framework in our community. We have always had the empathy, the passion, dedication, methods, we have always had the faith in our young people, the knowledge that they can be inspired to aspire to great things. We have proven our fiscal management abilities, our ability to overcome challenging times.. All of this we have now proven.. The difference is that now, for the first time we have an excellent steadfast centre befitting the services that we have always wanted to deliver for this amazing community. Our activity centre is known locally as The Team Oasis ‘Happy Days’ Activity Centre.
The Team Oasis ‘Happy Days’ Activity Centre is situated right at the heart of Dingle in Liverpool 8. Actually this community has the highest recorded incidence of youth anti-social behaviour in our city. You might be aware that this particular area of Toxteth is listed on all national indices as of the highest category of deprivation. All manner of social and economic distress hangs over this community. However, we can confidently say that this most diverse and cultural community has the most immense potential if given the opportunity.
It is the intention of Team Oasis to strive to ensure that this community is given the opportunity to fully realise its potential. We are all really enthusiastic about serving this particular community. It is well known that Toxteth has so many talented and inspiring people in it’s midst and we fully expect some really exciting developments over the next few years. Whilst most people would agree that the past few years have been particularly difficult for all of us. Obviously, charities are not immune from these financial difficulties and certainly Team Oasis has been challenged during this time. However, even through these most challenging of times I am really pleased to confirm that the numbers of children attending Team Oasis activities has continued to increase. This is a testimony to the many passionate and gifted leaders within Team Oasis. It is also a real testimony to the parents/guardians of the children attending that they have struggled through these difficult times but prioritized and ensured that their children have been enabled to attend our activities. I mention this, as in most instances, these families are very busy and have their own financial difficulties and we can all relate to how tiring it is being a good parent ferrying your children to all sorts of after school groups as well as the usual school run etc.

Over the period of this report Team Oasis has further developed our **Beautiful Sensory Room** , **A Wonderfully Peaceful Memorial Garden Area and A Multi-Fruit Orchard.** We have also began preparing an Aviary, Bee Sanctuary and Pets Corner. All of these compliment our wild flower garden.

Dedicated to inspiring all in our community, raising self-esteem, empowering, eradicating exclusion and raising our communities aspiration, Team Oasis, as part of a wider effort in our community, (including Church work, Community Regeneration Bodies, Other Community Groups, Other Charities, Schools, Health Service and PCT’s etc), can be pleased with its contribution over this our twenty first year of existence. Just to consider the positive impact on people’s lives and the shear growth in numbers attending sends a very clear and loud message that children and young people want to engage, they want to be included, they want to be heard, they don’t want to be excluded because of ability, means, ethnicity, gender or any other personal or economic circumstance. These children believe in themselves and so do their families and so do we. The only thing that they need from us is the forum to engage and express themselves. Team Oasis is delighted that we have been allowed to offer the children of our community this opportunity to participate and flourish. Team Oasis was founded in Toxteth and continues to deliver its services in this community. Toxteth is listed as being in the top 1% of deprivation on each National Indices of Deprivation. Therefore, our work serves groups experiencing social and economic disadvantage. We also support children, young people and adults with disability. Collectively our work certainly benefits communities of severe and multiple disadvantages. Our core objective over the years has educated the masses regarding disability, thereby building awareness, understanding and removing barriers to children of all abilities growing together. Our community generally, but our young people particularly have anabundance of frighteningly easy avenues into crime. Fraud, drug use, alcohol abuse and violence are a constant challenge to our service. Illegal access to cash or drugs is often too great a sinister temptation to refuse. Team Oasis vigorously strives to open up and promote alternative positive pathways through dance, drama, singing, music, sports, holidays, youth groups and after school. We have always known that if you can engage with young people early enough then you can change their negative perceptions of what is expected of them in life. With excellent mentorship, excellent role models, fine ethical and moral values and, of course, with sufficient resourcing you can massively and positively impact on young lives and pretty much ensure that they grow into fine young, responsible citizens. At Team Oasis, we have known this but now after nine years of serving our community we can point to hundreds of lives that have been supported down such positive life paths. We can supply many, many testimonies from local families, schools and Merseyside Police to verify the impact of our work. Team Oasis actually has over 500 young people attending our activities each week. We deliver activities for seven days each week and for fifty weeks of each year. Many children attend a number of activities across different days. Therefore, we can confidently say that we engage with approximately 350 different young people each week. These numbers are impressive; however, we refer to our centre as “a child safe space”. Therefore, only the young people themselves or their parents/guardians have access to our centre during activity times. We also focus on work on small group sessions. We have an average of ten young people attending our activity sessions but we deliver in excess of 40 different sessions/topics each week. Therefore, small groups with a high ratio of excellent leaders ensures top quality delivery of services with multiple maximum positive impacts. Young people attending Team Oasis often join us as lacking in inspiration and confidence. In a short space of time they are encouraged, supported and thriving as confident, positive thinking young people looking forward to their future opportunities.

We remain totally dependent on the continued encouragement and support of our community, parents, children and young people, volunteers, private donations, sponsors, trusts, foundations and other organisations. With their advice and wisdom then Team Oasis can continue to progress.
We are all delighted to confirm that as a result of our Coordinator, Mr Paul Nilson, being chosen to represent his community of Toxteth in a documentary ‘L8 Unseen’ which was subsequently exhibited nationally including a three month exhibition at The Museum Of Liverpool, Team Oasis has received increased interest from across the UK for advice and guidance on our excellent delivery of totally inclusive activities.
We are aware of our objectives, we have the vision and imagination to implement projects to achieve our aims. We shall continually strive to achieve our goals, overcome future challenges and we can only persevere in our usual steadfast, positive, caring, compassionate, gentle, adventurous, fun and serving manner to aim to serve our community and prove ourselves worthy of future support from our many friends and supporters.
