Financial Review

Review ofthe charity’s
financial position attheend
Para 1.21 The club had broughtforward cash reserves
of£42,372 and carried forward reserves of
ofthe period £44,970.
All aspects ofthe club’s finances were
heavily affected by the impact ofthe
Coronavirus Pandemic, both bythe
shutdown itselfand by the subsequent
reopening and limited activity. The club
received a Coronavirus grant of£10,000
from Erewash Borough Council and
Business Rates cancellation amounting to a
further £700. These concessions, together
with cost savings achieved during the
shutdown and the cancellation of
discretionary spend, broadly offset the lost
revenue forthe year. As a resultthe club
achieved a surplus forthe year of£2,599.
However it should be noted that much ofthe
ongoing impact of Coronavirus was still to be
felt at the
year end.
Statementexplaining the Para 1.22 The club needs around £5,000 in cash
policyfor holding reserves
stating whytheyare held
reserves in ordertocopewith the timing of
cashflows within each yearandfluctuations
in income and costsfrom year to year.
Over and above this the club needs a
sinking fund of at least£50,000 to cover
cyclical repairs and replacements. The
largest element anticipated is the
replacement ofthe specialistflooring in our
two playing halls, estimated to cost around
£45,000. This replacement has been
deferred forthe time being and the Trustees
will monitor its condition.
In order to build up sufficientfunds and not
be dependent on grants the club plans to
earmark around £5,000 peryear for this
purpose.

=reserves | Fa Explanation of any Para 1.23 In the very long term, between 50-100 years, deficit a uncertainties about the the club is not at present generating charity continuing as a going sufficient reserves to replace the whole concern building, which, for insurance purposes, has a rebuild valuation of £1,075,000. The club would therefore need to increase its annual surplus to nearer £10,000 per year, or rely on future grant funding when the building needs replacing
