b) The aims of the Charity
Tlie chai'ity is a grant-making Trust. Giants will be made both to charities and also lo iion-¢harilies in support
of work that advances tlie chai'itable purposes of the Ti'ust. As indicated below, the principal objective of the
Ti'ust, reflected iii its iiain¢, is to siipport ecological and environmei)tal initiatives, paiticularly, but by no means
exclusively, around the issues of agriculture, Iropi¢al forests, and climate change.
The Trust will seek to siipport piojects ihai prevent environmental dewzdalion and that change values arKI
attitiides, both amoiigst the piibli¢ 8nd with people in wsitions of power. In general the Trust seek5 to address
the causes of the environinental crisis that we face, and to tackle these. rather than to Inake tl)e ¢onsequ¢nces
of this crisis casier lo live with.
Subject to the above, the Trust intends to support work that oihcrs Inay find hard to fund, pei'haps be¢ause it

provided by other trusts and foiindation5. The grnnts strategy of the Trust flows from this, wtth an
emphasis on supporting initiatives in line with the fund-raising that ]% carried out. One consequence of
this 15 that the Trust very rarely makes grants in response to knnsolieited funding applications. Instead
it operates a proactive grant-making policy relation to the issues for which it has received funds.
