Waltham Forest BlackPeople's Mental Ilealth Associatlon ts a voluntary sector organisation. Th¢
Association 15 funded by Waliham Forest Social Services and mo1￿ed by a committee made up of
voluttteers and s¢rvi¢¢ users. It was Trncorporaicd on 8 April 2003 as a charitabl¢ COEnpany litnited by
guarantee. On that dal< il took ov¢r the and liabiliti¢s of an GXiSting u￿1￿({￿￿)r￿t￿l charity with the
same name.
The Association is established:
l. To promote the preservation of mental health and to assist in relieving and rehabilitating persons
suffering from mental disorder or ¢onditioL% of emotional or mental distrss requiring advice or
treatment in th¢ London Borough of Walthaln For¢st particularly peTSOllS of African, Caribbean or Asian
descent or of other ethnic or national groups inthe said area of benefit.

How Our Activities Ijeliver Public Benefit
Our main activities and who ive try to help are as described in objectives and activities. All our charitable
activitics focus on these objectives lo ￿rther ow charitable purtfv)ses for the public benefit.

Aclivitles D•rlng the Year
As reported, l&st year we continued to provide a comprehensive range of services to our users and
carers to th¢ besl of our ability.
We hav¢ many a¢tiviti¢& ivhich includes, book club. quizzes, fun days. health watch is an integral
programme, whereby relevant tOPiC5 are explored in depth i.e. Mental Health and its effects and
uses upon the individual. Dementi￿ diabetes, cancer. hearL hypertension, medication, healthy
living, medication, just to name a few.

Along with these, BPMHA services users and carers also engaged in eV¢n￿ groups activities such as irÈ-
house fun days and quizze5 were also staged for the elljoymenl of servic¢ us¢rs.

UnfoTtunately> due to a lack of fvnding our carers support grow) no longer meets. We continue however to
offer support on a one to one basis as nttded.
Conclusion:
This year WFBPMHA supwrted its service users and carers refetTed from teams acros5 the ￿roug[L
throughout coYid-19 Testrictions through the delivery of food and serYi¢es to regular attendees homes. who
have not been able to out due to isol&ting or shielding. We monitor and evaluate our services through &
Bi-annual review of activities as well 6-12 weekly individua] care revicws with users.
