Llandefalle Hall Trustee Report – 2025
Overview
2025 has been a productive year for Llandefalle Hall, marked by a strong calendar of community events, ongoing improvements to our facilities, and continued engagement by local groups. The Hall remains a vital hub for social, cultural, and recreational activities in the parish.
Community Engagement & Activities
The Stitch group continues to thrive, offering a mix of creative workshops and informal gatherings. Some highlights included:
-
Painting demonstrations with Matt Williams
-
Acrylic painting with Peta Mellors
-
Lovespoon history and crafting with Keith Williams
-
Christmas flower arranging with Jayne Griffiths
These sessions not only foster creativity but also support mental wellbeing and social connection. The Poppy Curtain, originally created by Stitch members, is proudly displayed in the Church once again ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
The Young Farmers have made extensive use of the Hall for meetings and rehearsals, particularly in preparation for drama, dance, and public speaking competitions.
Yoga classes launched in April and, while initial attendance was strong, numbers have since declined. We encourage more people to give it a try.
Events
We’ve hosted a variety of well-attended events this year:
-
St David’s Day Big Breakfast : A successful launch of our refurbished kitchen, despite a few teething issues with the hob.
-
VE Day Afternoon Tea : Excellent turnout and generous contributions from parish bakers.
-
Parish Picnic (August) : Held on Llandefalle Hill at Morfa Flat, this simple event drew great attendance and requests to make it annual.
-
Harvest Supper (October) : A colourful and delicious spread, with generous help from volunteers and local suppliers.
Upcoming events include:
-
Quiz & Curry Night – 21 November 2025
-
Wreath Making Evening – 4 December 2025 (DIY format with shared refreshments)
Facilities & Maintenance
-
We installed new curtain poles and curtains and must give thanks again to the YFC for part funding these.
-
The Hall hosted 2 Community Council meetings, 2 afternoon teas, 1 funeral tea, and 1 birthday party this year.
-
Ongoing discussions with YFC regarding mobile steps and platform storage or disposal.
-
Water damage to the kitchen ceiling is under investigation; Jayne is liaising with Ryan to assess the roof vent.
Governance & Training
Trustees attended a joint training session with Felinfach Show Committee members in November at the Felinfach Griffin, reinforcing our commitment to good governance.
Fundraising & Finance
We continue to promote the Easyfundraising app as a simple way for supporters to contribute to Hall funds at no cost. Every new user helps increase our annual total.
Jayne is actively seeking grant opportunities to improve heating and reduce electricity costs, ensuring the Hall remains sustainable and comfortable year-round.
Looking Ahead
With a strong foundation of community support and a full calendar of activities, we look forward to another year of growth, creativity, and connection at Llandefalle Hall.
