Trustees’ Annual Report
We have pleasure in submitting our annual report and accounts for the year ending 30 September 2021.
The Object of the charity is the advancement of the education and wellbeing of the pupils at The Beacon School by providing funds, items, services and facilities that are not the obligation of any statutory authority to provide.
The Constitution was approved and adopted on 15" October 2002, amended in certain respects in March 2009 and again in April and August 2021. The constitution is available on the school website. The organisation was registered as a charity from 5" August 2003, having been a small Parent Teacher Association up to that time.
A summary of the fundraising activities and items purchased in pursuit of the charity’s objects during the period is shown in the notes to the Accounts.
As a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, various previously planned activities had to be cancelled. Deposits paid to certain venue providers have been rolled forwards for future events.
The Trustees do not engage in speculative investments and they hold significant funds in interestbearing and current accounts until such time as they are needed.
Funding requests received from the School are approved at the discretion of the Headmaster and the Committee, and then passed to the Trustees for final approval.
Reserves Policy
In normal times, our policy is to maintain unencumbered funds in cash of at least £10,000 to enable the charity to make arrangements for future events.
Within the limitations of the above we aim to purchase items whenever the school has made a request and it has been approved at a Trustees Meeting.
Approved by the Trustees and signed on their behalf:
