However, we now obtain almost all our dogs from Mo Chara. an Irish animal sCUe charty which lakes many dogs from overfowing local Pounds. Mo Chara kenneLs the dogs through the quarantine period and undertakes all neeessary velerinary treatment. induding neutering, vaccinating and treating fof paiasiles. Mo Chara makes a flat charge for each dog and arranges transp)rt to the UK for which Dc43s in Need also pays. Then Mo Chara has no Capacity for hjrther dogs, it passes them to vorouS Kennels who charge DDJS in Need a daity rate for their servi¢es. Vve OCLasionally take dogs direct from VorOus. in which case they arrange for the necessary veterinary treatment al our expense and kennel the dcos through the quaranline perNyJ. Dogs looking for a home are featured on Dogs in Need's website and Facebook page, and are further advertised by general netsvorking. People InteIed in a particular dog contact Dogs in Need in the first instance, and if appropriate are then pul in contacl with the team at Mo Chara who are able lo provide any further information that they may have atout that dc•J. Dc•Js in Need also carries out remote horr checks. to confirm suilability of the environment including security and how long Ihe dog may be left alone. Because of the tsme the dogs have to spend in kennels in Ireland, they will have a potential waiting for them when they arrive in the UK. New owners are able to pick up Iheir dog onee the necessary formaltlies have been completed on arrival. Beyond this. we commonly gNe advice to owners who have problem5 with their dogs and are thinking of r&homing them. We also direct some owners towards breed specik specialists", we do this particulady where the dog is of a breed that experier tells us that we would have difficulty in re-homing. Wth their consent, we pass on names of those willing to give homes to dogs to other organisations, and we seek homes for dogs held by other organisations. In this way. we build up a netsyork of ¢ontacts thal enhances the prospects of each dog. The onty restriCt)n to Ihis netsvothing is that we only work with those who follow a policy on the suitabilrty of new homes that reflects our own. especialty on issues ol garden security and on dogs not being left on their own for exiended periods of time. Nevertheless. by this route, a considerable numter of other dogs will have benefitted from our efforts. These primarily reside around our abilty to find suitable kennelling and behavioural risks of dogs in our care. Dogs in Need has no premises of its own. and Works ck)sety with a small number of commercial kenne15 which share our values and which will care property for the dogs placed wrth them. We also have a number of trusted foster carers. Dcos in Need has wellstablished management practices designed to limit the risks posed by behavioural issues. and these are backed up by appropriate inranCe cover. The investment portfolio is managed by professional investrnenl managers and the Company also employs an Irependent Financial Adviser. Dogs in Need has restricted income funds or endowment funds.
