We are happy to report that the Hall continues to provide a valued resource to the residents of Denmead as intended by the original trustees. It is the venue for regular and occasional hirers offering educational, sporting and social activities for villagers.

The year was busy with the completion of major projects, and we spent a lot of money. The kitchen was updated with new carcases where necessary, a replacement of the leaking sink, modern door fronts and new worktops.

The second, larger project was in two parts. This was to split and reshape our storage room, thus providing dedicated space for Pre-School property, and a separate storage room for chairs and tables. The second part of the project was to replace the rear school-style toilets with a larger toilet cum changing room and make the Green Room more attractive and suitable for performers who use the Hall. Jackie and Mark O’Halloran did masses of work preparing the specification and identifying builders.

The community coffee morning held on 19[th] October 2024 was the highlight of the year. We were delighted that the Mayor and Lady Mayor of Winchester District joined us to open our refurbished facilities. They showed great enthusiasm for the Hall and it’s place in the community.

The community coffee morning was attended by representatives of many of the groups which hire the Hall, who showcased their activities to members of the public who joined us. The Committee provided coffee and cake, with a raffle raising money for the Hall.

I want to express my thanks to the whole committee for their ideas to keep the Hall a safe and attractive environment. We met for the summer cleaning to refresh the Hall as usual.

Members of the committee offer to carry out and report on necessary work as agreed at monthly committee meetings. My special thanks go to:

David Nicholls has the key role of treasurer, and also undertakes and organises most practical repairs.

Jackie O’Halloran is secretary, maintains our social media presence and organised another well attended Heartstart course this year.

Sue Thomas, booking secretary, handles all bookings and manages the busy diary.

One member of the committee resigned during the year due to work pressures.

We appreciate the continued legal support of Biscoes solicitors on a pro bono basis.
