Thetrusteeswhoarealsodirectorsof thecharityforthepurposesof theCompaniesAct2006,presenttheirreport with
thefinancialstatementsofthecharityfortheyearended31July2021.Thetrusteeshaveadoptedtheprovisions of
AccountingandReportingbyCharities:StatementofRecommendedPracticeapplicabletocharitiespreparing their
accountsinaccordancewiththeFinancialReportingStandardapplicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland(FRS 102)
(effective 1 January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
HopeforTheNationsisanon-governmental,non-politicalorganisationcreatedasacharitablelegalentityin2002. The
Memorandum of Association defines the charity's 'Objects' as being:
"TorelievepovertyandadvanceeducationwithaChristianethosbytheprovisionoffunds,equipment,training, and
personnel, particularly but not exclusively to those persons living in Africa".
WhilstHopeForTheNationscarriesoutsomedisasterreliefwork,itconsidersthatthebestmethodofmeeting its
objectivesisthroughlongterminvestmentinthelivesofindividualorphansandwidowsbysponsorship, establishing
children'shomes,feedingprogrammes,education,encouragingself-sufficiencythroughdevelopingmicro enterprises,
andby providinga sourceof cleanwater,andprovidinghumanitarianaid.It partnersin coalitionwithotherswith similar
objectives, in order to maximise the value to beneficiary groups.
Grantmaking
Followingrequestsreceivedfor grants,the ChiefExecutiveOfficeris able to agreegrantsof up to £5,000.For any amount
in excess of £5,000, the approval of the Board of Trustees is required.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Financial
Theincomeofthecharitywasmaintainedatthesamelevelaslastyear,being£70,476for2020/21compared with
£70,551for2019/20,butresourcesexpendedhavedecreasedby21%(£54,999comparedwith£69,305),sothereis an
overall surplus of £15,477 (2020: £1,246).
Kenya
Soweto Hope Bright Future School
We have continued to provide for the feeding programme and the Baby Care Unit for the benefit of the children.
Bethlehem Children's Care Centre, Kitale
Due to the success of the program we now only support one child in education.
Kolongolo
Our support for the widows continues with monthly donations.
Mukwa
We continue to help the widows financially on a monthly basis.
Hope Transformation Centre and New Life Children's Home, Bungoma
UndertheleadershipofPatrickSiabutu,theHopeTransformationCentreinspiresmanyKenyanleadersashe manages
and puts to good use the land that we provided.In additionto the ongoingexistingcarpentry,masonryand tailoring skills
training centre the Hope Transformation Centre accommodates a demonstration plot for organic farming and training.
Turkana
JohnLokolicontinuestooverseetheEducationprojectinTurkanawherewesend30childrentosecondaryschool. All
these children have individual sponsors to whom we are very grateful.
Malawi
HopeVillageisnowtemporarilyoverseenbytwoassociatedorganisationswhosemanagementareformermembers of
the Hope Village team.
TheseorganisationsareAhavaMinistriesandGulugufe,bothofwhichsupportcommunitieswithhealthcare, education
and sustainable projects.
AftermuchconsiderationthedifficultdecisionwasmadethatHopeVillageisnolongersustainableandmostof the
projectsarenowclosed.Gulugufeisgoingtobeusingasmallportionofthelandforpermaculturefarmingto educate
people to farm sustainably and we are actively seeking a likeminded organisation to take over the rest of the property.
WearecontinuingoursupportofAhavaMinistriesandGulugufeintheirsupportofthecommunitiessurrounding Hope
Village.
Malawiwashitby a severetyphoonandtherehavebeendisastrousfloodsleavingthousandshomeless,withtheir crops
and livelihoods wiped out. Ahava Ministries and Gulugufe are actively involved in the relief work needed at this time.
Romania, India and Eswatini
We continue to send the sponsorship support to these projects and workers.
KwattSwap
KwattSwapisnowanoperatingnameofHFTNwiththeaimtoraisefundsthroughdonationsforthepurpose of
purchasing solar equipment to be sent out to projects that we support.
Effects of Covid19

Theprojectssupportedbythecharityhavefaceddifficultiesincontinuingwiththeirworkduetolockdown restrictions
withinthe countries.It has meantthatno visitsto the projectshavebeenpossibleby HFTNdirectorsand staff.The solar
equipment sent out to Kenya for example has not been distributed due to restrictions on travel and social distancing.
FundswereputintocreatingawebsiteandadvertisingforKwattSwap'slaunchintoschools.Wehadstarted working
withschoolswhoshowedexcitementinbeinginvolvedwiththeprojectwhenwehadschoolclosuresdueto Covid19.
Webelievethatthishassignificantlyimpactedtheincometothecharityaswehavenothadtheopportunity to
reintroduce it since due to the extra workload on teaching staff.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Reserves policy
Whilstthe trusteesconsiderthat a generalfund balanceof £5,000is desired,to ensurethat supportcosts are covered for
atleast3monthsinadvance,wehaverecognisedthattheremaybetimeswhenthiswillneedtobeflexible,due to
particular financial pressures at particular times.
Attheendofthisfinancialyearthelevelofreserveshadincreasedto£68,175(2020:£52,698)andavailablefunds, i.e.
those excluding fixed assets and restricted funds, stood at £52,813 (2020: £39,317).
Investment policy and objectives
UnderthememorandumandArticlesofAssociation,theCharityhasthepowertomakeinvestmentsasthetrustees see
fit.Thetrusteesconsideranyinvestmentsonanindividualbasis,andaredutyboundtoseekappropriate professional
advice before reaching any decision. At the year end the Charity had no invested funds.
Loan
HopefortheNationsandNehemiahConstructionMinistrieshaveacommonpurposeandassuchithasbeenHope for
the Nations'desireto assistthem in gettinga drillingrig to Kenya.NehemiahConstructionMinistries,as part of our wider
networkweregivena£30,000loanfortheimportofadrillingrigintoKenyainJanuary2016.Asigned agreement
outliningthetermshasbeenobtained.Thisisaninterestfreeloanwiththefirstinstalmentof£5,000havingbeen due
beforethe end of July2017and five subsequentpaymentsdue everysix months,howevertherewas flexibilityif this was
not possible.Inthe 2019 accounts,a bad debt provisionwas made againstthe wholeloan balanceas Nehemiahhad come
into financialdifficultiesand were unableto make payments.Duringthe year a total of £500 (2020:£1,500)was repaid by
Nehemiah and further payments may be possible.
Volunteers and Supporters
The charityis very gratefulto all thosewho gave so generouslyof theirtime, talentsand money,both here in the UK, and
in Africa. It has only been able to achieve all that it has because of such generosity.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
Theorganisationis charitablecompanylimitedby guarantee,incorporatedon 7 May2002andregisteredas a charity on
23 July 2003.
ThecompanywasestablishedunderaMemorandumofAssociationwhichestablishedtheobjectsandpowersof the
charitablecompanyandisgovernedunderitsArticlesofAssociation.Intheeventofthecompanybeingwound up
members are required to contribute an amount not exceeding £10.
Recruitment and appointment of new trustees
The directorsof the companyare also charitytrusteesfor the purposeof charitylaw and under the company'sArticles are
knownas membersof theManagementCommittee.TheTrusteesareresponsiblefortheadministrationand investment
policy of the Scheme. Trustees are appointed in accordance with the Articles of Association of the Charitable Company.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Organisational structure
Theorganisation,includingtheCEOandthevolunteersworkfromhome,ourregisteredofficebeingArquenHouse 4-6
SpicerStreet,StAlbans,Herts,AL34PQ,fromwhichitcarriesoutitsdirectionofoperations.Thisincludes fundraising,
networking and communications, and its accounts.
TheBoardof Trusteesseeksto meeta minimumof fourtimesa year,to reviewandmonitortheworkand management
of the Charity. This body also approves annual budgets and scrutinises policy decisions.
TheboardconsistedofthePresident,threedirectorsandtheCompanySecretary,whoisresponsiblefor completing
statutoryreturnsonbehalfoftheCharity.TheFinancesub-committeeisreportedtomonthly,tomonitorthe financial
management of the Charity.
Wider network
HopefortheNationsChildren'sCharityseeksandencouragespartnershipwithothers,toenhancetheworkof the
Charity.
OurcoalitionpartnershipsincludeHopefortheNations(Canada,Malawi,Romania,Eswatini),Elim(U.K,Ireland), Ahava
Ministries, Gulugufe and Ignite Hubs International as well as with church groupings both here and abroad.
Risk management
The Trusteeshave a dutyto identifyand reviewthe risksto whichHopefor The NationsChildren'sCharityis exposed and
to ensure appropriate controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error.
ThetrusteesactivelyreviewthemajorrisksthattheCharityfacesona regularbasis.Thetrusteesbelievethatthey have
thesystemsinplacetomitigatetheserisks.Thisincludesmattersofhealthandsafety,wherebytheHealthand Safety
matters will be discussed by the board on occasion.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Hope for the Nations Childrens Charity ('the Company')
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 31 July 2021.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As thecharity'strusteesof theCompany(andalsoits directorsforthepurposesof companylaw)youareresponsible for
the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 ('the 2006 Act').
HavingsatisfiedmyselfthattheaccountsoftheCompanyarenotrequiredtobeauditedunderPart16ofthe2006 Act
andareeligibleforindependentexamination,I reportinrespectof my examinationof yourcharity'saccountsas carried
outundersection145oftheCharitiesAct2011('the2011Act').IncarryingoutmyexaminationIhavefollowed the
Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act.
Independent examiner's statement
Ihavecompletedmyexamination.Iconfirmthatnomattershavecometomyattentioninconnectionwith the
examination giving me cause to believe:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by section 386 of the 2006 Act; or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or
3. the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or
4. the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities (applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)).

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES
Basis of preparing the financial statements
Thefinancialstatementsofthecharitablecompany,whichisapublicbenefitentityunderFRS102,have been
preparedinaccordancewiththeCharitiesSORP(FRS102)'AccountingandReportingbyCharities:Statement of
RecommendedPracticeapplicableto charitiespreparingtheir accountsin accordancewith the Financial Reporting
StandardapplicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland(FRS102)(effective1January2019)',Financial Reporting
Standard102'TheFinancialReportingStandardapplicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland'andthe Companies
Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.
Income
All incomeis recognisedin the Statementof FinancialActivitiesoncethe charityhas entitlementto the funds,it is
probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.
Expenditure
Liabilitiesarerecognisedasexpenditureassoonasthereisalegalorconstructiveobligationcommitting the
charitytothatexpenditure,itisprobablethata transferofeconomicbenefitswillberequiredinsettlement and
the amountof the obligationcan be measuredreliably.Expenditureis accountedfor on an accrualsbasisand has
beenclassifiedunderheadingsthataggregateallcostrelatedtothecategory.Wherecostscannotbe directly
attributedtoparticularheadingstheyhavebeenallocatedtoactivitiesonabasisconsistentwiththeuse of
resources.
Tangible fixed assets
Depreciationisprovidedatthefollowingannualratesinordertowriteoffeachassetoveritsestimated useful
life.
Fixtures and fittings- 10% on reducing balance
Taxation
The charity is exempt from corporation tax on its charitable activities.
Fund accounting
Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees.
Restrictedfundscan onlybe usedfor particularrestrictedpurposeswithinthe objectsof the charity. Restrictions
arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.
