Our maln activitles and who we try to help are descrlbed below.
All of our charitable activitie5 focus on our abillty to Improve the condltlons of life for the resldents of Hampton In Arden.
o Almshouses
The almshousès have been contlnuously occupled throughout the year with only short breaks whllst premlses were
redecorated before beln8 relicensed.
o Day Club
The Day Club has contlnued to be actlve throughout the year when posslble with lunches, outln8s and functlons contlnLtln8
to be arranged for the occupants of the almshouses and other residents of Hampton in Arden.
o Grants to pensioners
Durlng the year ended 31 December 2024 a total of 24 pensioners12023.' 271 beneflted from 8rant5 totalllng £27,447 12023..

Investment pollcy and oblectbves
The charity maintains an investment portfollo along with various resldential and investment properties in order to provSde
fund5 SO that the charity may achieve its objectives.
The trustees, in conjunction with it5 indepÈndent investment manager, have made chan8es to the charlty's investment
portFollo during the year ended 31 December 2024 as summari5ed in note 17 to the financlal statements.
Reserves PDIICV
The pollcy for reserve5 is determlned by the long term material need for the maintenance of the charity's almshouses,
tO8ether wlth an operatln8 contingency to cover any unexpected shortlall In the charity'5 income.
The trustees have established a general reserves ptsllcy to ensure that the charlty can meet the programrne for beneficiaries
and rnanage thè Impact of any unplanned fluctuatlons In the value of the tharlty's net income. General rèseThes provide
some protectlon to the charlty and its charitable PTO8ramme.
At 31 December 2024 the level of freè reserves wa5 sufflclent to enable the charSty to rneet Its object5ves.
FUTURE PLANS
During the coming year the charity wlll continue to carry out Sts prSntlpal artlvltles to benefit the resldent5 of the charitY'S
almshouses and for the general benefit of the inhabitants of Hampton In Arden.

was incorporated on 10 lune 2003 and achieved charltable status on 17 July 2fy)3 Ireglstered number 10986181.
The charity wa5 establlshed under a Mèmorandum of A550¢i3tion which establlshed the objècts and power5 of the charlty
and Is governed under Its Artlcle5 of Assoclatlon. In the event ol the charity being wound up members are requlfed to
contrlbute an amount not exceedlng Elo.
Est blishment of the ¢harlt
The charity wa5 originally established by the Wlll and Testament of George Fentham In 1696, 5ub5equently con5tltutèd by a
Scheme of the Charlty Commlssloners on 23 December 1907 and further subject to 3 scheme of the Charity Comm155ioners
dated 26 September 1980 varied by a scheme made on 20 January 1992 las modlfied by the order of the Commissioners). On
19 May 1004 the charity changed Its name from George Fentham Hampton In Arden Charity to Geor8e Fentham Hampton in
Arden Endowed Charity at whlch time a new charltable company was Incorporated and assumed the name of George
Fentham Hampton in Arden Charity. The charitable company took over the expendable property of the Pfevious charitv
except for all land defSned a5 permanent endowment which is vested bn the new company as trustee to be held In trust on
the term5 of the orlglnal trust.

Rettultment and appolntment of new trustees
The following bodies have the right to nominate the following number of trustees.
Two trustees shall be nomlnated by the Borough Coun¢il of Solihull.
One trustee shall be appolnted by the Justices of the Solihull Petty Divlsion.
Three trustees shall be appointed by the Parish C04Jncil of Hampton in Arden.
The tfijstees 3150 have thè rSght to Co-opt up to four Jdditlonal trustees by resolution passed at an extraordinary general
meeting of the charlty.
The maximum length of term of office for tr￿slee$ nominated by the Borough Councll of Sollhull and for trustees appolnted
by the justices of the Sollhull Petty Divlslon and the Parish Council of Hampton in Arden is 4 years.
The maxlmum length of term of office for co-opted trustees is S years.
All trustees glve thelr tlme voluntarily and receive no beneflts from the charSty. Any expenses reclalmed from the charlty are
set out In the note5 to the financial statements.
Organlsatlonal strudure
The George Fentham Hampton In Arden Charity 15 organised so that its Board of Trustees meet regularly to manage the
charlty's affalrs and formulate po1￿CY and the trustee5 a¥e responslble for all policy and flnancial decisSon maklng on behalf of
the charSty.
In order to do thls, a sub-commlttee of the tru5tee5 meets four tlmès per year and recelves independent investment advice
from the charltY'5 Independent Investment manager. This sub-committee reports back to the Board of Trustees.

Newly appointed tru5lees are Inducted and trained by the exlsting trustees and are provlded with varlous documentatlon In
order to help thèm understand the workings of the charlty.

Hampton in Arden Endowed Charity Ire8lstered numbèr 2264921. Under a Charity Commlsslon unlting direction these
financial statements Incorporate the transactions of both charitles. Both ¢harStles are adminlstered by ihe same set of
trustees,
The George Fentham H3mpton in Arden Charity is also connected with the Educational Foundatlon of George Fentham
Ire8iStered number 5288161 with both charStles being adrninlstered by the same set of trustees.
In the current year. dotalls of transattlons between the Georgè Fentham Hampton Sn Arden Charity and the Educational

The George Fentham Hampttsn In Arden Charity 15 a charity incorporatèd in England and Wales, The address of the

accordance wlth the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 "Accountlng and Reporting by Charities: Statèment of Recommended
Practice applicable to charitie5 preparing their accounts In accordance wlth the Flnancial Reportin8 standard
applicable in the Unlted Kingdom and Republic of Irelond IFRS 1021 (effective I january 20191 Flnancial Reportlng
Standard 102 'Yhe Flnancial Reportlng Standard applicatrjle In the UK and Republlc ol Ireland" the Companies Act
2006 and the Charltles Act 2011.
The financial statement5 have been prepared usin8 the historlc cost ctsnvÈntSon a5 modifled by the revaluation of
Investments and arè presented in sterling which is the functlonal currency of the charity, founded to the nearest El.

FINANCIAL REPORTING STANDARD IOZ. REDUCED DISCLOSURE EXEMPTIONS
The charSty has taken advantage of the lollowing disclosure exemption in preparlng these flnancl81 statements as
permitted by FRS 102 'Yhe Flnancial Reportlng Standard appllcable in the UK and Republic of Ireland"
the requlrement of Settion 7 Statement of Cash Flows.
COMPANY STATUS
The charlty Is a company Ilmlted by guarantèe. The members of the charity are thè twgtees named In the Report of
thè Trustees. In the event of the charlty beln8 wound up the liability In respect of the guarantee 15 limited to £10 per
member of the charity.
INCOME
All income Is recognlsed in thè Statement ol Financial Actlvitie5 0n¢e the charity has entitlement to the funds, It Is
Probable th8t the income will be recelved and the amount can be measured rellably.
The policies adopted for the recognltlon of income are as follows.
For donatlons to be recognlsed the charity will have been notlfied of the amounts and the settlement date in wrltlng.
If there are conditions attached to the donation and thi5 requlres a level of performance before entitlement can be
obtaSned then income is deferred until those conditions are fully met or the fultllment of th95e conditions 15 within
the control of the charity and it 15 probable that they will be fulfllled.
Income from charitable activltles Includes income earned from Services such a5 residents, contributions and lettlngs
intome to ralse funds for the charity. Income Is received in exchange for supplying services in order to ralse funds
and is recogni5ed when entitlement has occurred.

can be measured reliably. Interest income Is re¢ogn15ed using the effectlve interest rate method and dividend

Grant income from other third parties is reco8ni5ed at falr value when the charSty has entitlement after any
performance conditions have been met, It 15 probable that the Income will be received and the amount can be
measured reliably. If entitlement Is not met then these amounts are deferred.
EKPENDITURE
All expenditure is accounted for on an actruals basis and has been classifled under headlngs that aggregate all costs
related to the category. Expenditure 15 reco8nlsed wher¢ there Is a legal or constructlve obll8atSon to make
payments to third partles, It Is probable that the settlementwlll be requlred and the amount of the obll8ation can be
measured reliably.

TANGIBLE FIXED ASSETS
Housin
land and buildin
Somè years ago it was the prartlce of the charity to Include houslng land and buildings used for ¢haritable purposes
at a nominal value of £1 each (with the exception of Fentham Hall which had a nil value due to the buildinB'5 nature,
klsage and p05f(ion held within the charity) which is accordance with traditional practlce as the propertles were
considered to be a permanent endowment of the charlty at that time.
In order to comply with tho CharSties SORP (FR5 1021 "AccountSng and Reporting by Charities.. 5tatpment of
Recommended Practlce appli¢able to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financlal Reportin8
Standard applicable in the United Kin8dom and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffeuive I january 20191. and with the
Companies Act 2006, these asset5 have been revalued to their market value by the trustees with the help of the
charity's profe55ional adviser, N C Russell MRICS of Nick Russell A550clates. They have been included at market value
as at 31 Decpmber 2024,
The properties involved are Fentham Green Ilncluding the Warden's House), the Fentham Hall Caretaker's Lod8e and
the garage plot at Belle Vue lerrace.

TANGIBLE FIXED ASSETS
Commercial and agricultural propertie5 were revalued as at 31 December 2024 by the trustee5 With the help of their
professional èdviser, N C Russell MRICS of Nlck Russell As50clates. These have bèen included at market value a5 at 31
December 2024.
Fentham Hall, a5 stated earller, ha5 no value In the financial statements for charitable purposes in accordance with
tradltional practice a5 the Property is considered to be a permanent endowment of the charity. However, the
trustees did obtain a value "on a contr3ctor'5 basis" of £1,500,OJO In 2017 with the hèlp of their professional adviser,
N C Russell MRICS of Nitk Russell Associates. Thls is considered only to act a5 an 'alde-memolre" to the financial
statements and not as a monetary valuation.
INVESTMENT PROPERTY
Investment property is measured usln8 the falr value model and is ststed at Sts falr value as at the reporting end date.
The surplus or deficit on revaluation is reco8ni5ed In the Staternent of Flnanclal Artlvltles.
TAXATION
The ¢harlty Is exempt from ¢orporatlon tax on Its charltable actlvltie5.
EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
When employees have rendered service to the charityj short-term employee benefits to whlch the ernployees are
entltled are recognlsed at the undlscounted amount èxpected to be paid in exchange for that seNSce.
Termination benefits are recognlsed Immedlately a5 an expense when the charlty is demonstrably committed to
terminate the employment of an èmployee or to provlde terminatlon benef5ts.
CASH AND CASH EqUIVALENTS
Cash and cash equlvalents Include cash In hand and deposlts held at call wlth banks. Bank overdrafts are shown

INVESTMENTS

Unrestrlcted funds can be used In accordance with the charltable oblectlves at the di5cretlon of the trustees.
Restricted funds can only be used for partlcular restrlcted purposes wlthln the objects of the charity. Rèstrictlons
arise when specSfied by the donor or when funds are ralsed for particular restricted purposes.

The charitable company operates a defined contribution penslon scheme. Contributlons payable to the charitable
company's pension scheme are char8ed to the Statement of Financial Activities in the period to which they relate.
GOING CONCERN
The financial statements have been prepared on 3 golng concern basis as the trustees believe that no material
Un￿rtaIntieS exist. The trustees have considered the level of funds held and the expected level of income and
expenditure for 12 months from the date of authorising these financial statements. The expected Income and
expenditure is sufficieni wlth the level of reserves for the charity to continue a5 a going concern.
