Following the successful fTberger wsth Age UK HertFordshire. Age UK Dacorum has successfijlly achieved its
objectives this year by receiving hjnding and passing it on to Age UK Hertfordshire to be used to support older
people.

The triJstee5 present their annual report and linancial statements for the year ended 31 March 2025.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance wth the accounting policies set out in note I to the
financial statements and comply with the charitable company's governing docurnenL the Companies Act 2006 and
"Accounting and Reporting by Charitie5'. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities prepaiing their
accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS
1021" leffective l January 20191.
Since the company qualifies a5 small under section 382 of Ihe Companies Act 2006, the Stiategic report required of
mediurn and large companies under the Companies Act 2006 (Strategic Report and Llirector5' Report) Regulations
2013 has been omitted.

In setting objectives and planning for activities, the Twslee5 have given due consideration to general guidance
published by the Charity Commission relating to public beneth"L includirvj the guidance 'Public benefit.. running a

contribute to the aims and objectives set.

The Board have reviewed the performance of Age UK Dacorum. are Satisf￿ that it is working effectivety and have
decided to retain the current slructure.
Structure. governance and management
The charitable company is a company limited by guarantee.
Oryanisational Structur*
Following the merger with Age UK Hertford5hire all ￿aff, operalional aCt￿ltieS and reserves have been transferred to
Age UK Hertfordshire. When residual transactions need to be processed Age UK Hertfordshire staff undertake those
tasks.
Age UK Dacorum has a Board of Trustees comprising of a minimum of thFee members. The Board meets as
required and is responsible for the strate9ic direction and polity of the charity.
Governing Document
The organisalion was first registered as an independent chaiity on 26th May 1993. On the 17th October 2003 the
organisation changed its constitution and became a company limited by guarantee. The organisation adopted a
Memorandum ol Association which established the objects and powers of the charity and is governed under its
Articles of Association. In the event ol ihe company being wound up members are required to contribute an
amount not exceeding £1.

The Trustees (who are also the diredoTS of the Company for the purposes of company lawl are responsible for
preparing the Tru5tees' report and the financial stalements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom
Accounting Standards Iunited Kingdom Generalty Accepted Accounting Prarticel.
Company law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year. Under cornpany law, the
Trustees must not approve the financial statements unless they are salislied that they give a true and fair view of the
state of affairs of the company and of its incoming resource5 and application of resource% including its income and
expenditure, for that period. In preparing these financial staternenty the Tntstees re required to..

the Charities SORP "Accounting and Reporting by Charities." Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to

Having satisfied myself that the financial statements of the chaiitable company are not required to be audiled under
Part 16 01 the Companies Act 2006 and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my

1.1 Accounting <onvention
The financial Statements have beerh p￿pared in accordance with the charitable companys governing
document, the Companies Act 2006, FRS 102 The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and
Republic of Ireland" I"FRS 102.1 and the Charities SORP -Accounting and Reporting by Charities-. Statement of
Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their account5 in accordance with the Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021" (effective l Jarbuary 20191.
The charitable company is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FAS 102.
The financial statements are prepared in sterfing. which is the funcbonal Cur￿ncY of the charitable company.
Monetary amounts in these financial staternents a￿ rounded to the nearest £.
The financial statements have been prepared tjnder the historical cost convention. The piincipal accounling
policie5 adopted are set out below.
1.2 Going concem
At the lime of approving the financial statements. the trustee5 have a reasonable expectation that the
charitable company has adequate resources to continue in operational existence lor the foreseeable future.
Thus the trustee5 continue to adopt the going concem basis ol accounting in preparing the financial
statements.
1.3 Charltable funds
General funds are unre5tricled funds which are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance
of their cha¥itable objertwes and which have r￿t been designated for any other purposes.
Designated lund5 comprise unrestrirted funds that have been set aside by the Trustees for particular
purposes. The aim and use of each de51gnated fund is set out tn the notes to the financial ststernent5.
Re5tiicted funds are subject to specific conditions by donois or grantors as lo how they may be used. The
purposes and uses of the restricted funds are set out in the notes to the financial statements.
Investment income, gains and losses ale allocated to the appropriate fund.
1.4 Income
Income 15 recognised when the charitable company is legalty entitted to it after any performance conditions
have been met, the amounts can be measured reliabty. ar￿ it 15 probable that incorne will be received.
Cash donations are reco9nised on receipt Other donations are recognised once the charitsble company has
been notified of the donatiorn unless perfomance conditions require deferral of the amount.
Legacies are recognised on receipt or otherwise il the charitable company has been notified of an itllpending
distribution, the amount is known, and receipt is expected. If the amount is not known, the legacy 15 treated as
a contingent asset.

Grants are included in the Statement of financial activities on a receivable basis. The balance of income
received for specific purposes but not expended during the period is shown in the relevant fLJnds on the
Balance sheet. Where income is received in advance of entitlemenl of receipt, its ￿cognItion is defeTied and
included in creditors as deferred income. Where entitlemenl occur5 before income is received, the income is
accrued.
On receipt, donated prole55ional service5 and faalities ale lecognised on the ba515 01 the value of the gift to
the Charitable Company which is the amount it would have been willing to pay to obtain services or facilities
of equivalent economic benefit on the open marke( a corresponding amount is then recognised in
expenditure in the peii¢)d o( receipl.
Other income is recognised in the period in which it is receivable and to the extent the goods have been
PTovided or on completion of the service.
Government giants relating to tangible fixed assets are Ireated a5 deferred income and released to the
Statement of financial activities over the expected useful I￿e5 of the assets concerned. Other grant5 are
ciedited to the Statement of financial acli¥itie5 as the related expenditure is incurred.
Interest on fvnds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be measured reliably by the
Charitable Company, this is normally upon notification of the interest paid or payable by the institution wth
whom the funds are deposited.
1.5 Expenditure
Expenditure is recognF5ed once thère is a legal or conslnjctive obligation lo transfer economic benefit to a
third party, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlemenL and the amount of
the obligation can be MeaSu￿d reliabty.
Expenditu￿ is classified by activity. The c05t5 of each a(tiwty ale made up of the total of direct costs and
shared costs, including support costs involved in undertaking each activity. Direct costs attributable to a single
actwity are allocated directly to that aitMty- Shared costs which contribute to more than one activity and
support costs which are not attributable to a single activity are apportioned between those actiwties on a basis
consistent with the use of resources.
Expenditure on raisin9 funds includes all expenditure incurred by the Charitable Company to raise funds for ils
charitable purposes and includes costs of all fundraising adivities events and non-charitable trading.
Expenditure on charitable activities is incurred on directly undertaking the activities which furtheT the
Charitable Company's objertives. as well as any associated support C05t&
1.6 Tangiblè fixed assets
Tangible fixed assets costin9 £1.000 01 more are capitslised and recognised when future economic benefits
are probable and the cost or value of the asset can be measured reliably.
Tangible fixed assets are initially measufed at cost and subsequendy measured at cost or valuation, net of
depreciation and any impairment losses.
Depreciation 15 recognised so as to write off the cost or valuation of assets less their residual values over their
useful lives using the straight line method. Depreciation is provided on the following basis..

The charitable company has elected to appty the promsions of SertK>n 11 'Basic Financial Instruments, of FRS
102 to all of it5 financial instrutnents.

Financial assets and liabilities are off5eL with the net amounts presented in the fifiancial ststements, when
there is a legally enforceable right to set ofl the recognised amounts and there 15 an intention to settle on
net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simvltaneousty.

Basic financial a55ets, which include debtors and cash and bank balances are initialty measured at transaction
price including transaction costs and are subsequently carried at amortised cost using the effective interest
method unless the arrangement constitute5 a financing transaction, where the transaction is measured at the
present value of the future re￿Ipts discounted at a market rnte of inte￿St. Financial assets classified as
receivable within one year are not arnortised.

Basic financial liabilitie5, including creditors and bank loans are inithilly recognised at transaction price unless
the arran9ement constitutes a financing Iransaction. where the debt instrument is measured at the present
value of the luture payments discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial liabilities clas5ilied as payable
within one year a￿ not amort15ed.
Trade creditors are obligations to pay lor goods or service5 that have been acquired in the ordinary course of
operation5 from suppliers. Amounts payable are classified as current liHbilities if payment is due within one
year or less. If not, they are presented 35 non-current liabilities.
