Our primary fo￿$ forthis year has been to estsblish an acadernic Pthisory Board to support the
work of the RJC The Board will comprise of up to eEht sector specialsts and ￿SearCherS
appointed by (yJr CEO. We have uJrrent￿ secured supwrt from 5 key academics and sector
specialist to ftjrm a core Research Advisory Board. These members have committed to sitting on
the Board for a minimum of one year. An inaugufal meeting has taken Pla￿ and the terms of
refere￿e for this group have been finalised.
The main functions of our Research Advtsory Group will be to ensure the Ric is aware of
past, present and planned ￿SearCh relevant to its broad remit including restorative justice
and practice across education. health. social ca￿. and criminal justi￿. The group will
highlight the implications of research for policy and practi￿. bringing a research pefspective
to bear on our current work programrne. In èddition, they will advise our CEO on emerging
issues and concerns highlighted by research.
We remain committed to ensuring that our work is evidence lead. our Research Advisory
Board will play a pivotal role in identifying gaps in the available research and recommend
opportunities to address these shortfalls. As a group. they will strenethen our contacts and
network5 in respect of relevant research.

The All-Paty PartiamentsryGroup vns formed in April 2021 as3 plarform forcross-party

The Restorative Justice APPG launched an irwuiry into the
current state of Re5toratr¥e Prdctices in the EnglarKI and Wales
in June 2021. It sought to tske evIlen￿ from key stskeholders
and refkn on the 2012 and 2017 govemment prioritie5 (as
estsblished then) to review how these are progressing and what
changes need to be made to irnpfove the quality arKI availabilty
of restorativejustice a￿1 practre&
r ￿0 provided OPFortunrties forcHJr rnernbers to engage in a
serEs of e￿de￿e gatheri￿ sess¥)ns during whith he collate

We welcomed 240 delegates Over￿ days. We were able to secure an international keynote
speaker and a Criminal Justre panel that was led by Dame Vera Baird, Victim's CommissKJner.
Crispin Blunt MP, Jim Barton, Executive Director ProbatKJn Reform Programme and DCC Jon
Strarford. Deputy Chief Constsble and restorative justice portfolio lead. Delegate feedback
was extremely positive particularly the selection of speaker5 and quality of conference
presentations. Our CEO and Board of Trustees are in the process of planning for cwr 2022
conference which will follow a similar format.

The FUC has continued to provkle briefl￿$ and responses to governn￿nt consultations of
re￿van￿ to restorative justi￿. fvrthe pastyearwe have submitted a fcfmal response to the
Moj's Victims Bill ConsuFtatKJn, consulted with the Home Offi￿ on the developmentof their Hate
Crime ￿ryey and their revised Anti-social Behavbwrgudance. We have continued to engage
informal￿with the Criminal Justice Aliance. Wictim gjpport and Wh*me to devebp a co-
ordinated response tothe antKipate draft v￿lmS Bill.
Our CEO. in his role as Chairofthe Board forthe APPG has sUp￿rted the draftirg of
AP[￿ response to the V￿timS Bill consultation a￿1 has metwith the Virtims Minister, Tom

THE IMPAcf OF COVID-19
During the past 12 months there have been no immediate risks to day-to-day operations of
the charity- our stsff have continued to work throughout lockdown and there has been no
requirement for the RJC to furlough staff or claim any form of government subsidy. The

board remain avtsre of the potential financial challenges we may face as the economy starts
to ￿build. The Board of Trustees have contingency plans in place to minimise these risks
and have updated the Risk Register accordingly.
