The Trustees present their annual report for Sacred Heart Pre-School for the ended 31st August 2021
Governing document and constitution
The Charity is governed by a Constitution dated 22nd September 2006 and is member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance with membership number 25994
Charity Registration
The Charity was previously registered with the Charity Commission number 1 but was removed from register on 17th April 2014.After consultation with the Charity Commission, the trustees have now had their charity status restored.
Objects
The aims of the Pre-School are to enhance the development and education of children primarily under statutory school age by encouraging parents to understand and provide for the needs of their children through community g and by :
-
a) offering appropriate play,education and care facilities, family learn and extended-hours groups,together with the right of parents to ta responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of such g ensuring that such groups offer opportunties for all children whate their race,culture,religion,means or ability.

b) encouraging the study of the needs of such children and their fam promoting public interest in and recognition of such needs in the lo areas and
-
c) instigating and adhering to and furthering the aims and objects of Pre-School Learning Alliance
Management Committee
The Trustees set out on page 2 are also members of the Pre-School Managem Committee.
The minimum number of Committee members shall be 5 and the maximum shall be 12, including the Chair,a Treasurer & a Secretary( the "Officers")
The Officers & Committee members shall be elected for one year at the Annu General Meeting. Retiring Officers and Committee members are eligible for re-election unless they have served on the Committee in any capacity for ten

consecutive years.

Main Activities
Providing appropriate play,education and care facilities,family learning and ex hours groups with the use of the pre-school facilities for breakfast and after s clubs.Continuing to ensure that opportunities are offered for all children what race,culture,religion,means or ability- this remains a useful learning resource the staff.
In setting our objectives and planning our activities, the Trustees have given consideration to the Charity Commission's public benefit guidance.

This has been another difficult year due to Covid-19 and lockdown.
All schools re-opened in September 2020. Covid-19 procedures adhered to, including social distancing etc. In January 2021 we locked down again until It was a very difficult and worrying time, but we got through it as safe as we c Continued to follow government guidelines and safeguarding risk assessmen were put in place, at all, times. Mr Eaton supported us throughout and did a Hannah unfortunately had to furlough again due to Harlow her son being only
All children then returned in March 2021 and we continued to work through th of the school year but then due to a member of staffs family member testing for Covid pre-school had to shut down completely 4 days early and all staff an who had been in with the member of staff had to then lockdown for 10 days. Thankfully no other positive cases were reported. Transitions were still don passed on to the reception teacher. 14 Left for school 10 of these going into Sacred Heart School, 1 going to St Johns and 1 child to Royles Brook Sch 1 SEN Child has returned to us due to no specialist provision place available for her, at the moment. Hopefully January 2022.
SEN has been very hard this last year with 4 SEN children in the setting. 2 were referred and EHCP s put in place. 2 children will be referred in Sept 20
All staff still sanitising the toys and the pre-school room daily inside and out.

Vicky Bennett – Deputy Manager and PICO Clare Hansford – SENCO Micelle Sessions Barker – Keyworker Co-ordinator and ENCO, Hannah Curtis – Permanent member of staff since March 2017 working part time hours of 4 days per week. Melissa Ball – Now fulltime permanent member of staff studying at university per week. Early Childhood studies Foundation Degree. Level 5 Chelsea Porter – Paid member of staff studying again at university 1 day per Early Childhood Studies Foundation Degree Level 5
Cris Gallagher still remains as treasurer and liaises with Denise on a weekly b and pays all the bills and pays the wage etc.
Jean Horner remains as our overseer of the books including doing the yearly and, also does our monthly wage slips.
About 4 of the staff are still paying into the pension scheme.
All CRB/DBS forms for all staff are now all updated and registered to the upda service yearly. All updates are starting to come through for the year.
- Courses attended by Staf:
All Management cluster meetings were attended by Denise throughout the ye via zoom as no face to face due to Covid-19.
2 yearly visits by the teacher team. Visits from outside agencies including:-
Cathy Shaw Sophie Danvers Simon Thomlinson SALT support workers Speech and Language Health visitors
Committee AGM plus four other meetings. Due to Covid-19 meetings were p hold from March due to no face to face contact but meeting notes have been recorded by Denise and will be read by the committee members at the A.G.M and will be signed off then.
TAF and CAF meetings for SEN children attended by outside professionals inc Blenheim representatives, Health Visitors, Speech and Language experts etc. Any meetings since March due to Covid-19 have either been done by phone o Zoom meetings.
Safe guarding- Sent via computer to all staff from the Deputy head in school to refresh on line.
Safeguarding Designated leads Level 2 course attended in June 2021 by Den Vicky, Clare and Michelle.

Level 1 course due Sept 2021 to be confirmed for Mel, Hannah and Chelsea. SENCO Cluster meetings attended by Clare held by Simon Thomlinson. First Aid – Cancelled for Mel due to lockdown. Will rebook for Mel, Clare and Michelle in March 2021. First aid now booked on for 22nd January 2022. Other courses are now becoming more available so will look at signing up for some of those.
Some of the things we have achieved this last year.
All Children still received a Christmas bag full of creations they had made. They also received a Christmas present to the value of £5-£6 each and a selection box.
Due to Covid-19 unfortunately a lot of events that we would normally hold ha cancelled. Summer trip, Leavers assembly, Parents evening, sports day et
We did still buy school leavers presents of a Teddies, Graduation story books “My school first day” and certificates.
Wage rises in April 21 for staff on minimum wage as increased. Will look at w rises again for other staff in April 2022.
Parent’s Evenings normally held in October 2020 and March 2021 had to be c due to Covid-19.
Pre-school is filling up for next year 2021/2022 and also we are starting to get applications in for 2022/2023 which is fantastic.
All staff do 2 Lateral flow tests every week unless more is required just to ma we are safe.
Covid 19 risk assessments regularly updated and sent out to parents.
Some of the items we have bought to improve the setting.
Plants and equipment for outside greenhouse area New sensory SEN toys Macdonalds play station Paint Easels Fire trucks and cars and people Balls PPi gloves etc Still have a lot of resources in cupboards so trying to use up those a bit more
On, going yearly projects.
First aid 3 yearly refresher courses. Continue to update policies

Staff refresher courses for Food hygiene More E learning including CAF training for all staff More visual wall signs to make outside area more inviting. Looking into replacing the wooden outdoor for a double-glazed door.
Large projects to be considered this next year.
Washing Machine and Fridge freezer as soon as.
Later……. New double glazed outside door. Still Considering modernisation of the bathroom in the future once the money builds up a bit. Re-paint of room.
All committee meetings - still written reports passed on to committee membe read and sign as still adhering to covid-19 rules for the time being as positiv are still being reported.

Policy on reserves
Our policy on reserves is to retain minimum cash funds of £22,000 for staff w rent and outstanding debt if we were to close.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES
I report on the accounts of Sacred Heart Pre-school for the year ended 31st A set out on pages 7 & 8
Respective responsibilities of Trustees and examiner
The Charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The Charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year unde 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011(the 2011Act) and that an independent exam is needed.
It is my responsiblity to :

examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act

to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given
-
- Charity Commission(under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act, and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given Charity Commission.An examination includes a review of the accounting reco by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those record It also incudes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accou seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters.
The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be req in an audit,and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a "true and fair" view and the report is limited to those matters set o the statement below.
Independent examiner's qualified statement
Tha accounts have been prepared in accordance with the accounting requirem of the 2011 Act .
The internal financial controls are fully controlled and secure
The trustees oversee & are fully in control of all the aspects of the accounts. I have fully examined all the Bank Statements & Petty Cash transactions rela financial year & am completely satisfied with all elements of the accounting
