Summary of the main activities in relation to these objects

The Evangelical Brotherhood Church (EBC) ceased its day-to-day operations by the end of 2016, with the intention of selling its two properties, preferably to charities with similar objectives.

The manse at 25 Calabria Road was sold to a private purchaser in 2022, as no suitable charitable buyer could be identified. The proceeds from the sale are currently invested in a fixed-term deposit.

The church building at 16A Highbury Place is currently occupied by St Crispin’s Church under a lease, which has been extended until 31 December 2025. The building was placed on the market in 2025 and several offers were received. St Crispin’s Church also submitted an offer, and negotiations are ongoing.

The charity’s current principal activity is the provision of the church building in support of the ministry of St Crispin’s Church. Any funds generated will be applied to support ministries within the worldwide GfC denomination, of which the Evangelical Brotherhood Church forms an integral part.

The trustees seek to comply with the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit, in particular the guidance relating to charities for the advancement of religion. To the best of the trustees’ knowledge, St Crispin’s Church operates in accordance with Charity Commission regulations and in a manner consistent with the charitable objects of the Evangelical Brotherhood Church.

4. Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

During the period, the charity’s principal activity was the letting of its church building to St Crispin’s Church. To the best of the trustees’ knowledge, all lease conditions were fully complied with, and rental payments were received as agreed. The ministry of St Crispin’s Church has continued throughout the period in a manner consistent with the charitable aims and objectives of the Evangelical Brotherhood Church.

5. Financial review

Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves

The charity’s reserves are being kept at a reasonable level to provide for all expenses. We are very grateful for the ongoing commitment of the GfC-denomination to cover any possible deficit.

Further financial review details

The charity’s income is derived from rental payments received from St Crispin’s Church and interest earned on the fixed-term deposit. Expenditure during the period primarily related to building insurance and general administrative costs.

Further details of the charity’s financial position and performance are provided in the accounts.

6. Declaration

The trustees declare that they have approved the above trustees’ report.

Signed on behalf of the charity’s trustees:
