This refkcls 8n historic association between the two organisations originating in 1916. The Society lestsblished In 19031 became
involved in 1916 at the rEque$t of the Villag8 Club and L8Cture H811, which, as one of its main aims, had wish6d to esta￿lsh a local
h￿tory museum since its found81ion in 1858. The Museum o¢cupi69 the Space rent freg for the purpose of running the museum on
behaw of the Village Hall Trust and community but pay5 a srnall an￿U￿1 arnount for the use of the 58rne rooFn5 fur ￿ own meetings.
The Wimbledon Society is one of those bodi8s nominated in the Scheme io prcvid8 Trustee8 and is repr•sented on the CoLmLyI of
Management.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
The buildirKJ CoMp￿x, ￿ed by the Tw5t, forms a group ¢)f forjlilitrs on which the present Charity 1$ based aad WÈS eslabllsh8d in
1858. These [a￿l￿"eS are used tD provid8 leisure activities for Ihe local communty on a daily ba$i$, whilst providina an income lo the
Charity. which fa(#litates the m8intenance and irrprovement ofthe building. Th¥ Village Hall and m8eting room5 are bDDked forgEneral
education purposes, lèctures, meetings and drama. Provision 15 made within th& faci￿1￿8 for the Museum of Wimbledon, now named
the wlrnbled0￿ Museum, the local History Museum run by the Wimbledon Society

The Museurn 55 run enlirÈly by volunteers and is usu811y open to thé public on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday8 and for sch¢)ol groups
exhibitions al other limes. W8 have made provi$lon for tt)e Museum Sinca 1916 and this forms important part of fulfilling thè
charitable objects of the Tru51. There Is no rharge for admission. The Trust con51ders it5 5UPPOrt of the Museum lo be a signific2nl
part of the puNic benefit il performs for th8 community. 11 is clearthal, Viithoul the support of the Trust, 8nd th8 fact that it Is rua entirely
by volunteers, the Museum would struggle lo survive. There ara plenty of examples of Museum5, which were originally funded and run
bylocal Counals, that have, In recent years. lo$ttheirfunding and had to c105e. The re￿￿t tllodErnisatiDn Dfthe Museum was organised
by the Museum Commbtl8e of the So¢i•ty in conjunction with the Trust.

A new 8rtGallery was created ￿thIN the building u>mplex in 2012. This was called, at the time. the Village Hall Gallery arKI has proved
to be a very Successful projeGt and an important addition to Ihe facilllle5 provided by the Tiust to th& local community

It is Imp¢rtant to record that the idea of the Gallery. in the Spa￿ it owupie$. was coneoived by Norman Plaslow, our pasl Chairm8n. a
number of years ago. DUE lo his vision 8nd persuasive lobbying of fellow Trustees, the Gallery *v8nlually came into being. NorTnan
resigned from thE Chairmanship of the Trust in November 2013. At Ihat point the Trusteès derided to pay tribute to his indefatigable
support of the Trust over many y68rs of valued Chairmanship by r8namlng th• Gallery as the Norman Plastow GaN8ry, as a
tribute
Charoas for renting the Gallery are nomiral il 1$ run by the Trust as a non-yofit activity. This reinforces th8 charitable objects of
the Trust and 15 an important part of our public b8n8f4t activity. The Museum of Wimbledon, now named Ihe WlmbleESon Museum. Is
all¢caled 8 numb8r ol months when it can ￿se the Gallery for its own exhibitions. free of charge. This has allowed the Museum to
display, for Ihe first time, some of its extensiv8 arthive materid such as walercolouls. prints and drawings and lo put on themed
exhibitions, which relate to the hisw of the Wimbledon area.
Young Wimbledon Artlsts (YWAI
In line with the Trvst's aitn iD encourage local schools and colleges to use the Gallery. an Import2nt new initiative was launched ir the
Gallery in 2015 called the Young Wimbledon Arts8ts IYWAI. This inilialNe wa5 in the fr)rm of award scheme and sought to proV￿e
students from local schools. college$ and acedemie5 in Merton, and individual young artists or gTOUPS of young artists wholive in the
borough, an opportunity to exhibit their origin*l •rti$lc works. Thes8 Nvorks are curated into exhibitions put on by the Gallery and Trust
Since 2015 a number of winter and surnrnei exhibitions have been held, which have been great su¢cesses. Priz&s, vA7ich are in the
form of vouchers for art materr41s, are sponsored by the Trust and other generous individuals who arg keen to SUPPOrt the initiative

A listed building applicat￿n was Submitted in November 2020 for a disab18d toilet on tha ground floor. The original design of the
building, and the fatt that it Is Grade 11 listed, means th81 any internal structural 8keT8tion5 or Change$ to the character of the building
r8quire Lisle(f Building Consent Listed Building Con$enl wss received In early 2021. However. due lo the refuibishrnent proj&¢l ol the
Museum and the impli¢ation$ of that for the operation of Ihe building, Comrnencement ol th& project was hekl ba¢k until the Museum
w(Yk was Complgtgd.
We ar& very pleased lo r8port that the project yva5 s￿rted in septembèr 2025 to Install the toilet. Thi5 hvolved a dight Modific8tion to
the Snooker room and movirwa the existing toilets around. Work was finally finished in November 2025. The project ha8 been a great
succ&ss and thanks a￿ du8to Flob McGuiness the Architect, Asif malik, Board fflemberand Graham Martin, our hard-working tvlanager.
In add11￿, the meeting room on the firstfloor has had a ngw installation of Coretec flooring for thkE multi-u$& loom. At the s8me time
8 new electr￿ rfng main was instal￿d while the old floorwa5 removed, ¢ompleb"nG the improvement5.
The renting of the Coltage wa5 started in Detemb&r 2021 and continues in a sath"sfactDry manner Prk)r to that. certain improvements
were ¢arried oul and complete ￿￿e￿ration look p18C8. The 16tting is rnanoged by 4 l¢¢al Estats Agent. This mean5 that we are
making the fullest posslblè use of the building.

Overall the Charity remains financially sound. While all ourstakeholders tyeservethanks fortheir patience wiNingness to be flexible,
