## **Wonersh & District** Trustees Minutes of 40[th] Annual General Meeting Monday 03 March 2025 Held at Bramley Village Hall and attended by 67 members As out-going Chairman, Vicki Jackson opened the meeting by welcoming those present and thanking them for attending. There were 67 members present. Apologies were received from 48 members. There have been a number of changes on our committee during the last year. Vicki having completed her 3-year term as Chairman, Sandra Jarvis was elected as new Chair, Sue Joslin as Secretary and Vicki Jackson as treasurer, all other committee members to remain in their roles. Before handing over to Sandra to continue the meeting, Vicki expressed her thanks to everyone for the support she had been given over the years. Sandra Jarvis said that she is honoured to be the new chairperson and is committed to fulfil the responsibilities of the position. Expenditure for the Year exceeded Income by about £7000. Steps have been taken to achieve a break even position in the future. Membership fee has been increased to £16. U3A. Functions to be priced at slightly higher levels. Members asked for a modest contribution at some of the group meetings. Future administrative costs to be controlled vigorously. As of today, the total number of members is 263. We finished last year at 276. 15 are new members. On our application form we now ask how we learned about Wonersh U3A. Last year a few changes have taken place. Our Current Affairs group closed but two new groups started; Line Dancing and Exploring Churches which so far have a good following. Big band and Listening to music have now been combined. Although we have a relatively small number of interest groups compared to some other U3As, those we have maintain good attendance figures and cover many aspects which include Music & Literary Enjoyment, Health & Fitness, Languages, Leisure & Artistic Activities, General Talks & Presentations providing All Round Interest and, of course, social Interaction, a key factor with all U3As. In 2024 there were planned visits for every month except December. These trips took us to London and surrounding counties and provided enjoyable days out with multi-faceted interest. Last year saw our 40[th] Anniversary Celebration. Our two regular annual events are the New Year Lunch and Summer BBQ both of which continue to attract large numbers. Our well attended members holiday last year was to the Isle of Wight. Our original website platform hosted by Third Age Trust and used by many U3A groups finally shut down in December with arrangements in hand to migrate to a new platform that had been set up. This has been achieved without disruption to visibility on the web and content remains unchanged. Our publicity is through external advertising with either small editorials or our monthly schedules where appropriate appearing in some local magazines. The laminated posters promoting our U3A are visible at various places around the villages. Vicki announced that she and Liz Tingley will no longer be continuing in the role of Programme Coordinator and will step down at the end of July. Derek Westmacott asked about bank transfers going forward. Jackie Young and Sandra thanked the people who are not often mentioned and who contribute to the U3A and without whom the U3A could not continue. Sandra extended a very special thank you to Vicki.
