SECTION D. ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
From the trustges:
ThfOU9hout 2021, SPRA continued to support six indNidual thalassaemia patsents In various parts of
Romania. The heahh of these IndivKluals (aged be￿n 18 and 351 Is ahNays a concern. During the year
we were noltfied by one individual that she had a probth wrth a heart condf(ion. described by her

there might be a requirement lo provfvje modest addrtional financial 5uppori In 2022
We were notslied that the father of another th8lassaemia palienl. whose famity we have supported for

which covered the costs of surgery in a prNate hosprtal 103ether wrth assocoled tèsts and scans We have
been advised that the $ur9ery ha$ teen complelety successful Other Ih8188S8emia palienls in receipt of
ular support include a young man who has {with our helpl $uccessfully completed training as a men's

We learned that another pefson in receipt of regular linarKial support for 20 years had divorced (for Ihe

young woman Ihalasseemia patient aged 18 had, against all medtal athice, become pregnant. She gave

led lo any donors syning up lo donate bl¢)od on a speCrf￿ dale for the benefrt of a pa￿"Cular indNidual

We have been a¢fvised that an unanlictpaled problem wh￿h occurred was a lack of enlhusiasm for the
project on the ground in the Var￿U$ bl¢)od transfusion cenlres. Another problem occuired with the web 8ile
whereby a te¢hnico1 issue may have caused the names of volunteer donors to be erased
This Innovative Pfojecl invofved 8 degree of rrsk. bul the failure to aetively support this project by local staff
was not anlicipaled as this was In direct contrast to what we were told was a high level of buy-ln by

## **Independent Examiner’s Report to the trustees of SUNNINGDALE PARK ROMANIA APPEAL**

We report on the accounts of the Charity for the year ended 31 December 2021, which are set out in the document above.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is our responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;

- to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of independent examiner’s report**

Our examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and the seeking of explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **Independent examiner’s statement**

In connection with our examination, no matter has come to our attention:

- (1) which gives us reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements:

   - to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and

   - - to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act

have not been met; or

- (2) to which, in our opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
