## AGM Meeting Minutes

## **Date and time: Wednesday 20th Oct 2021**

## **Location: The County Arms**

**Present: Sophie Headland, Jenny Lacey, Kat O’Leary, Jojo Sanderson, Sally Critchley, Sarah Hicks, Milena Camejo, Lisa Sandy and Beccy Higman**

**Apologies: Leanne Colvill, Becky Clason, Yasmin Baird, Chris Wallis, Anne Davies**

## **Agenda Items:**

## **1. Minutes of the previous AGM Sept 2020**

The minutes from the last AGM were circulated and agreed.

## **2. Chair’s Report**

SH became Chair in 2020 and started by thanking LC for her previous work, support and encouragement.

SH acknowledged how difficult it has been to fundraise and organise safe events with the COVID pandemic and it’s restrictions. Fayres, discos, family breakfast and movie nights have not taken place.

Despite this, FOBSA has remained active, organising a successful Christmas raffle, Christmas cards and paid for a screening of the Mousehole Cat as an end of term treat. We’ve provided crackers for the school Christmas lunch and two coffee machines and a picture for the staff as a thank you for all of their hard work and dedication.

SH has been maintaining birdfeeders and boxes funded by FOBSA and volunteers joined CW for a working party to make and fill planters in the KS2 playground.

In the summer we organised a non-uniform day to raise funds for the RNLI and a guest speaker gave a beach safety talk over Zoom to our older children.

We’ve also supported Anne Davis in the Food Hub over the course of the year mostly with banking as the funds run through our account.

We’ve held uniform sales, a cake sale and crazy hair day which were well supported.

Finally, FOBSA has provided £1000 for the bookshelf books for all the classes - something we do every year and hope to continue doing.

SH would like to thank Yasmin for her great work as Treasurer, Beccy as Secretary and Facebook Guru and Sarah as Vice-Chair, as well as the whole FOBSA community for their enthusiasm and support. I’m hoping FOBSA can go forward from strength to strength in the coming year, with some new parents getting involved and lots of fundraising events able to go ahead. It’s good to be able to make a positive difference to the school and to our children’s

education and experiences while in school, at the same time having some fun and making friendships in the process.

## **3. Treasurer’s Report**

In for 2020 - 2021 = £846.19

Out for 2020 - 2021 = £3437.63

Balance as of 31st August 2021 = £6897.43 (however Bosvigo are yet to cash cheques so our balance will be lower than this and we have also agreed to pay out £1820.80 this term)

Estimated balance is £3000. YB/JL to confirm exact balance on receipt of statements.

## **4. Election of the Trustees of the Committee 2020 - 2021**

After 5 years, Yasmin Baird would like to step down as Treasurer, Sarah Hicks would like to step down as Vice Chair and Beccy Higman would like to step down as Secretary.

The committee voted and elected:

Chair: Sophie Headland

Treasurer: Jenny Lacey

Secretary: Lisa Sandy

For the Year 2021 - 2022.

## **5. KS2 Green Space**

SC provided an update on the green space being created in KS2 playground. CW would like to suggest another volunteer day of Tuesday 26th Oct from 9am - 3pm. CW will be meeting a gardner to discuss how best to take the project forward.

## **6. Christmas activities and Fair**

We all agreed that we won’t offer Christmas Cards this year as time is running out and we can afford to take a break from it for one year.

Given that COVID 19 is still hindering many large events, from a safety point of view we feel it's best not to offer the usual indoor Christmas Fair but instead offer smaller activities in covered areas around the school along with refreshments. For example, Reindeer Hoopla in the KS1 Shelter, refreshments in the FS playground under the cover, Santa’s Grotto under the planetarium, Projector for the wall etc. LS suggested a map of activities around the school for children to follow. All agreed to think about ways we can offer something like this so we don’t miss another year of offering something fun for the children and an opportunity to fundraise.

## AGM Meeting Minutes

Possible dates Monday 13th Dec or Thursday 16th Dec

## **6. Events/fundraising activities**

**School bikes** -SH has been asked by CW if we can fund more bikes and scooters as these are very popular with the children. SH suggested that the Sports Partnership might be able to match-fund.

**Green School project -** SH shared ideas about involving the school community in more green activities such as the Dynamic Dunescapes and other wildlife conservation projects. SH will talk to CW about how this could happen. The group discussed other ways to support green projects such as the previous Terracycle scheme, purchasing recycling bins in the school playground and having Class recycling reps. KO offered to speak to Hannah Richards about whether she (or another member of staff) could support this in school with a group of

volunteers. SC will speak with CW as well. Jojo suggested a project for children to present ideas to FOBSA and awards/prizes could be given.

**Children in Need** - SH suggested we support CiN day on Friday 19th Nov. All agreed and it was suggested that children could wear spots and stripes with a suggested £1 donation.

**Crazy Hair day** - all agreed this was lots of fun and that we should do it again in the summer and hopefully avoid the rain! Some great efforts which were lovely to see.

**Teddy Amnesty** - KO suggested a Teddy Amnesty, the idea is to donate unwanted (ideally washed) soft toys. All agreed this was a good idea and KO will create a poster explaining how it works.

**Movie night -** discussed the possibility of offering this which is usually on a Xmas shopping evening in Dec. SC will check with CW whether this could go ahead because of COVID.

## **AOB**

MC has kindly offered to look into a contactless machine. We will need to check how this will work with our bank also.

## **DONM**

## **Thursday 11th Nov at 3.15ish at Bosvigo School, children welcome**

Thank you all for attending and for everyone’s continued support
