A new cloud portal to monitor risks is currently being implemented v￿h the view of the system being
fijlly functional by July 2023. Until this tirne the current process is being used.
Under the current system a traffic light system is used to rate the risks. Risks Scofing between 15- 24
(based on likelihood and impa¢tl are rated as red. Those scoring belween 8 -14 is rated amber and
risks scoring below 7 are rated as Green.
The charrty's hwhest risk factor is the possibility that commissioned contracts could end wrthout

How Our Activiti￿ Deliver Public Bgngfit
The Trustees have referred to the Charity Commission's general guid8n¢e on public benefit and feel
that the existing aims and values meet the requirement set out for small charities. A review of the
mission aims. and uyre values has been undertaken and it 15 fell that they remain relevant to the
charity's purposes.
Mental illness makes no di$lin¢tions, and neither does the Kaleidoscope Plus Group. Since KPG
separated from MIND in 2013, the￿ has been a greater awareness of the importance of heayih and
well-being in so¢iety. and with the combination of the covid and cost of living crisis, more people are
seeking help. KPG works in an environment where our 5ervi¢es are needed more than ever, and our
independence allows us to have a g￿￿Or impact.
Poor mental health continues to increase
1 in 4 experiences poor mental heaf£h; about 2% of people have severe mental heaf(h
needs, vAth the complexity of nee(Is increasing
l in 3 adults with mental health needs is due to adverse childhood events
l in 5 young people has a diagnosable mental health
Isolats'on is a killer
People with mental health needs have low levels of employment. increasing inequality and
most live in insecure accommodation
Up to 66% of homeless people have mèntal hearth needs
Stress is one ofthe top reasons for staff absence nationally
Someone dies by suicide approximately every hvo hours in the UK
Alongside the increase in demand and complexty of mental health illness, there are a number of
external factots that will continue to impact our aclivty and also provide opportunities.
11 is a dynamic, fasl-moving, changing environment, with all agencies under financial pressures
Housing, social care and health systems are under acute pressure
Local aulhorrty budgets are reducing- our tradttional source of fvnding
New solutions and systeTllS thinking is required for skills shortages, system failures, and
increasing demand5

FIIIANCIAL REVIEW
For the year ￿rted 311t Mard) 2023 the Charitys operat￿9 re5uW Ni an ovefall net deficrf of
£159,522 {2022: £98,592 surplus). The deficit is mainty due to the th$ of income from contract ends
and the organisation's fundraising athttes not generaknig sufficient in￿me. This resulted in an
opeTating deficit of £92,900 {2022". 63,293 surplus) whi¢h was fvrther impacted by losses from the
organisalion's investment activities. The war in Ukrnine and the ￿ease in enèrrJy prices wore ts key
contributors lo the Charity's investment losses during the financial year. The business strategies for
income diverwf*Xion and revenue growth are inchuded in the Chatty'5 202>26 tFwee- year busin￿5
