Ongoing financial assistance to a widow and her children
These efforts reflect our deep commitment to restoring stability and hope for women and children facing hardship.
🎓 Empowering Deprived Children through Education
Bridge of Love continued its mission to break the cycle of poverty by investing in the education of deprived children across Sri Lanka and India. In 2024, Bridge of Love directed over £6,900 towards educational programmes across Batticaloa, Mullaitivu, Pita Kotte, and Cheyyar — uplifting students in underserved communities through targeted support. These initiatives were made possible through the dedicated coordination of Rev. Karunanithi, Sis. Malini, Rev. Kathireson, and Rev. Samraj, whose local leadership ensured effective implementation.
In Kallaru, Killinochchi, Bro. Jesuthasan continues to sponsor and manage a longstanding educational programme. His generous contribution of £3,650 in 2024 played a vital role in sustaining and expanding this impactful effort.
🚲 In the remote villages of Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, where the nearest government school is 4 km away, many children face a long daily walk to access education. To ease this burden, we donated 6 bicycles in July 2024, valued at £325 — bringing our total to over 20 bicycles donated to date. In addition, we contributed £150 towards essential educational resources for underprivileged students in the same area. This initiative was generously sponsored and coordinated by Mr. Robert Arokisamy, with on-the-ground support from Rev. Samraj.
Altogether, these efforts reflect our unwavering commitment to educational equity and opportunity — empowering children with the tools they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

👩🔧 Income Generation for Poor and Marginalised Women
In 2024, Bridge of Love supported several initiatives aimed at empowering women through sustainable income generation — helping them build resilience and independence through practical support.
-
In Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, we provided financial assistance to a widow to help her start a small business. This project was coordinated by Rev. Karunanithi.
-
In Vivamadu, Mullaitivu, we ran a sewing training programme for disadvantaged women, equipping them with valuable skills to earn a livelihood. This initiative was coordinated by Sis. Malini.
-
In Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, South India, we supported poor widows in launching small businesses to improve their financial stability. This project was coordinated by Rev. Samraj.
In total, over £400 was directed towards these income generation efforts — fostering dignity, self-reliance, and long-term impact for women in need.
🛠 Housing Repairs & Dignity for Vulnerable Communities
In 2024, Bridge of Love allocated over £200 to improve housing conditions for vulnerable families in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, South India. This included installing front doors on homes that previously lacked proper entryways, as well as conducting essential repairs. Coordinated by Rev. Samraj, these efforts helped restore safety, privacy, and dignity to families living in inadequate shelter.
Additionally, Rev. G. I. Ebenezer, Chairman of Bridge of Love, fundraised and contributed over £1,100 towards the Pita Kotte Church building fund in Sri Lanka. The majority of this congregation lives in slum areas and faces significant economic hardship, making this support especially meaningful and timely.
Together, these initiatives reflect our deep commitment to improving living conditions and uplifting communities through practical, compassionate action.
