Soup, Soap & Salvation

Our ultimate goal is to reach out with our King’s love to the oppressed in their struggles and build a BRIDGE from the church to the afflicted.

Aim & Purpose

Bridge of Love Trust (BOL) is a non-profit organisation and a registered UK Charity (Charity No: 1096302). Rev G I Ebenezer is the chairman of BOL.

The Trust was established to protect and support society's most vulnerable, particularly widows and orphans. The trustees engage in numerous welfare initiatives to defend the interests of the poor, who often fall victim to the civil unrest in Sri Lanka.

Activities

We reach out to

Bridge Of Love focuses on community development in the Northern and Eastern provinces of Sri Lanka and the tribal areas in Tamil Nadu, South India. For over twenty two years, we've provided financial support to registered local organisations dedicated to assisting the oppressed, vulnerable, abandoned, poor, needy, widows, orphans, child labour victims, underprivileged, young offenders, persecuted, and war victims in in Sri Lanka and India.

We offer monthly financial support to the majority of our projects. Beyond our regular contributions, we identify specific needs and seek aid from individuals and organizations. We then channel these funds to trustworthy entities to meet those needs, ensuring that the organizations we support are genuine.

We assist individuals irrespective of their race or religion.

Summar of Achievements y

🏠 Caring for Orphans

In 2024, we contributed over £1,800 to support two dedicated orphanages in Sri Lanka:

These homes provide shelter, care, and hope to children in need. Mr. Veeman Masillamany coordinates the work at ASI, while Mrs. Jeeva Algendran oversees operations at Happy Home. Their tireless commitment ensures that each child receives the love and support they deserve.

👩👧 Supporting Widows and Children

In 2024, we allocated over £9,500 to uplift widows and vulnerable families across Sri Lanka and India. These projects provided essential financial support, dignity, and hope to women living in remote and underserved communities.

Bridge of Love Trust: 1096302 – Annual Report 2023 - Page 8/ 13

These efforts reflect our deep commitment to restoring stability and hope for women and children facing hardship.

🎓 Empowering Deprived Children through Education

Bridge of Love continued its mission to break the cycle of poverty by investing in the education of deprived children across Sri Lanka and India. In 2024, Bridge of Love directed over £6,900 towards educational programmes across Batticaloa, Mullaitivu, Pita Kotte, and Cheyyar — uplifting students in underserved communities through targeted support. These initiatives were made possible through the dedicated coordination of Rev. Karunanithi, Sis. Malini, Rev. Kathireson, and Rev. Samraj, whose local leadership ensured effective implementation.

In Kallaru, Killinochchi, Bro. Jesuthasan continues to sponsor and manage a longstanding educational programme. His generous contribution of £3,650 in 2024 played a vital role in sustaining and expanding this impactful effort.

🚲 In the remote villages of Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, where the nearest government school is 4 km away, many children face a long daily walk to access education. To ease this burden, we donated 6 bicycles in July 2024, valued at £325 — bringing our total to over 20 bicycles donated to date. In addition, we contributed £150 towards essential educational resources for underprivileged students in the same area. This initiative was generously sponsored and coordinated by Mr. Robert Arokisamy, with on-the-ground support from Rev. Samraj.

Altogether, these efforts reflect our unwavering commitment to educational equity and opportunity — empowering children with the tools they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

👩🔧 Income Generation for Poor and Marginalised Women

In 2024, Bridge of Love supported several initiatives aimed at empowering women through sustainable income generation — helping them build resilience and independence through practical support.

In total, over £400 was directed towards these income generation efforts — fostering dignity, self-reliance, and long-term impact for women in need.

🛠 Housing Repairs & Dignity for Vulnerable Communities

In 2024, Bridge of Love allocated over £200 to improve housing conditions for vulnerable families in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, South India. This included installing front doors on homes that previously lacked proper entryways, as well as conducting essential repairs. Coordinated by Rev. Samraj, these efforts helped restore safety, privacy, and dignity to families living in inadequate shelter.

Additionally, Rev. G. I. Ebenezer, Chairman of Bridge of Love, fundraised and contributed over £1,100 towards the Pita Kotte Church building fund in Sri Lanka. The majority of this congregation lives in slum areas and faces significant economic hardship, making this support especially meaningful and timely.

Together, these initiatives reflect our deep commitment to improving living conditions and uplifting communities through practical, compassionate action.

👐 Support for the Sick, Poor & Needy

In 2024, Bridge of Love contributed over £3,740 to support underprivileged individuals across Sri Lanka and South India — continuing our long-standing commitment to compassion, dignity, and care for the most vulnerable.

These efforts reached individuals who are often overlooked — the elderly, the disabled, the abandoned, and those recovering from trauma. Through practical support and compassionate outreach, we continue to stand with those in greatest need, offering not just aid, but hope and human connection.

🚰 Water Supply for Underserved Communities

In 2024, Bridge of Love supported the construction of a tube well worth £880 in the Killinochchi District, Sri Lanka — delivering clean and reliable water access to poor and underserved families. This vital effort was generously sponsored and managed by Bro. Jesuthasan, directly benefiting remote communities.

🎄 Christmas Gifts for Deprived Children

In December 2024, Bridge of Love distributed study materials worth over £1,000 as Christmas presents to underprivileged children in Batticaloa and Mullaitivu, Sri Lanka — offering both joy and educational support during the festive season. These projects were coordinated by Rev. Karunanithi in Batticaloa and Sis. Malini in Mullaitivu.

This heartwarming initiative was made possible through the generous support of Mrs. Evangeline Sathyendran , Mr. King , and the Barkingside Tamil Friends Fellowship, whose kindness created a meaningful difference in the lives of these children.
