Annual Trustees Report for the year ended 31[st] December 2023
The reporting this period represents is the twelve month period to the 31[st] December 2023.
We came into 2023 with a healthy bank balance of £112,701. There was also a £64,634 payment that was received in September-23 that related to fundraising and donations from 2020-22 – this was accrued in our 2022 yearend accounts and therefore took our 2023 opening accounting balance to £177,335.
In 2023 we raised £126,706 in fundraising and donations (£38,755 of this was received in October 2024 and has been accrued in 2023 Year End Accounts). This represented a £53,407 decrease from 2022, and this is partly due to holding one national fundraising event in 2023 (Three Peaks), whereas in 2022 we were able to hold 3 national events (Three Peaks, Sky Dive and Nuclear Races). Also the 2022 accounts included £24,790 of donations that related to prior year fundraising/donations.
The charity has no staff costs and little operational costs, but due to the rising Disney Land Paris costs it was decided to reduce the number of trips in 2023 from 3 to 2 – these trips were held in May and December. Total costs for the charity in 2023 therefore decreased to £95,020.
The bank balance that we take into 2024 has therefore increased to £170,266, and including the £38,755 payment that we have accrued takes our closing 2023 accounting balance to £209,021. Because of these increases in our accounts we have decided to increase the number of Disney Trips in 2024 back to 3, which will be held in June, November and December.
