## **2024 AGM Chairman’s/Committee Report.**

This is my fifth year as Chairman, only one year left before I must step aside! I must admit to a sense of déjà vu as I compile this report each year for the AGM. One tends to repeat the necessary but sincere thanks to the Executive Committee members, Group Leaders and those members who have actively give their time and effort to another successful year for St Neots U3A.

Fortunately, the recently completed Open Discussion and Member Survey, l referred to in this month’s newsletter, provided a rich vein of feedback I can include in this brief review of the last 12 months.

A snap shot of our success points in recent times includes…

A strong membership, higher than the national average, more visibility in the community, financial stability with investment in our groups and membership, a strong base of venues, lots of new groups plus well run social outings, a strong EC that work well together. There is trust in our U3A with a degree of formality which gives comfort to what we offer our members. Highly valued annual Showcase and Christmas Party events. A skilled Tech Team with timely investment in technology and support. A website that records over 180,000 hits per year. An excellent Newsletter, now ran by the members.

We have built a great community relationship with all our venues, Black Cat Radio, The Priory Centre, The Citizen Hub/St Neots Initiative and a number of local dignitaries; all of which equate to an excellent reputation in the town, as a force for good.

The final word goes to a past Mayor Ben Pitt who is quoted as saying “he has never met a more welcoming set of people than when he attends a St Neots U3A event” That is your U3A, stand and take a bow for members past and present.

Whilst we are standing, or sitting, let us also take a minute to think about those members who are no longer with us.

Thank you for taking the time to read this year’s Chairman's Report. Take care, Ian
