## **Chairman’s (Pastor’s) Report 2022/23:**
In some ways the 22/23 period was ‘business as usual’.
Each week was marked by our regular Sunday worship and, most of the Ame, we were able to have our online prayer meeAng. All the usual events which are found in the church diary; Easter, Pentecost, Harvest, and Christmas roll round with what feels like escalaAng regularity.
However, some events mark this period out as parAcularly memorable.
- In July 2022 we celebrated our 20th anniversary. 20 years of God’s faithfulness to our liLle church fellowship.
- October 2022 also stands out in our memory for two reasons. Not only did Dave and Mary BuL leave Fresh Church to pursue church ministry at Glenbrook Chapel, but we also said goodbye to Rose Johnstone, who passed away suddenly.
- Rose’s funeral was one of several community events that Fresh Church were involved in that year. Others included a memorial service for Lilly who had tragically lost her life in December 21. I was also privileged to speak at a tree planAng event held as a memorial to the late Queen Elizabeth the Second.
- Early in 2023 we recruited and trained a team to manage the Audio-Visual systems during our Sunday morning services. This, as well as an ‘all hands’ church cleaning day, have helped bring about a subtle but important culture change. Fresh Church is becoming a worship environment where there is room for everyone to grow.
- In March 2023 we co-opted Rebecca Ashton onto the Diaconate, a post that would later be raAfied by a General Members MeeAng on 4[th] June 2023. We also hosted an ‘Experience Easter’ event for a local school, under the expert guidance of Manchester City Mission’s Groundbreakers team. Again, it was a joy to see members of the congregaAon engaging in church life in new ways.
If ever there was a year of ‘ups and downs’, it was in our 22/23 period.
Through all this, our God remains the rock and foundaAon of our church fellowship.

## **Minutes:**
## Fresh Church Annual General Meeting 6:00pm 2nd October 2022
The AGM began with a fellowship meal.
Members Present: Dave Butt, Mary Butt, Christine Cowling (Treasurer), Stephen Cowling, Terry Durose (Pastor), Janet Durose (Secretary), Rosemary Fullerd, Marlene Jackson, Ray Jackson, Beryl Laming, Stewart Laming (SL), Sue Laming (SueL), Karen Zehlin.
Apologies: Rebecca Ashton
Members not attending: Michael Erebor, Donna Ash
Non-members Present: Jean Stott
6:35pm: TD welcomed everyone and opened the meeting in prayer.
## Minutes from the AGM held on 03/10/2021
The meeting accepted minutes as an accurate record with the caveat that a misspelling be corrected before signing.
Proposed DB, Seconded SC. All in agreement.
## Matters arising from the 03/10/2021 minutes
Suspension of membership discussed under ‘Membership’.
## Minutes from the AGM held on 15/5/2022
(Meeting to add 2 new members)
The meeting accepted minutes as an accurate record. Proposed DB, Seconded KZ. All in agreement.
## Matters arising from the 15/5/2022 minutes
DB asked if both new members had been welcomed into fellowship. This was confirmed.
## Finance Report
- It was noted that income is slightly down on last year while expenditure is slightly up.
- Claiming gift aid (£6,445) is an important addition to our income. CC reminded the meeting that the GASDS (Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme) means that we can claim gift aid on any cash gifts of £30 or under which are placed in the collection box.
- CC thanked everyone for their consistent giving.
- Fresh Church tithes on all income. 10% of our income is passed on as support for other Christian Charities.
- DB thanked the church for its longstanding support for himself, MB and the work of the Criccieth Beach Mission.
The meeting unanimously agreed to pass the finance report.

## **Minutes contd:**
On the grounds that the Minutes and Finance Report had been accepted by the meeting, the Annual Report for 2021/2022 was passed.
The meeting thanked CC & JD for their work.
## Membership
Jean Stott (JS confirmed that she had received and read the Fresh Church Constitution) Interviewed and recommended by BL & MB Proposed SL Seconded CC Unanimously agreed.
JS will be welcomed into membership at the morning service on 23/10/2022.
## Suspension of Membership
With reference to the minutes dated 04/10/2021. TD explained that ME has been out of fellowship for over 12 months and is no longer a functional member. The meeting agreed to suspend ME’s membership. (KZ offered, as a neighbour, to visit the family)
## Resignation
DB & MB are moving on to take up a leadership role in another church. Their resignations will be effective from 23/10/2022. TD expressed thanks, both personally and on behalf of the church, for their many years of friendship and service. A ‘sending’ service and faith lunch will be held on the 23[rd] October.
## Selection of Deacons
There were no nominations to the diaconate.
## Ministry Reports
The following people gave brief verbal reports regarding their various ministries within Fresh Church; it should be noted that the notes below relate to 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022
SueL - Fresh Kids
- Fresh Kids are now able to meet every 2 weeks and have 3 regular attendees who are engaged and ask questions.
Fresh Church leaders are SueL, CC, BL and JS
- TD noted that there are plans for the older children to meet on alternate weeks for a session arranged by RA.
- Children’s Addresses have been added to morning services when Fresh Kids does not take place.
## MB - Worship
MB expressed her gratitude that worship is no longer restricted by screens and face masks. MB thanked everyone who has served with her during her 25 years of leading worship whether it be within the music team itself or as the sound desk team.
TD noted that, on many occasions, MB had confirmed the message he was about to bring.

BL - Compliance Officer
Although some people may consider compliance unnecessary, we must all understand that there are several legal requirements surrounding the way we ‘do’ church.
- BL thanked JD for her guidance and is grateful that RA has offered to support her in this role (RA works in Health and Safety).
BL asked that if anyone notices anything which may lead to a H&S issue problem, they should bring it to the attention of the leadership.
TD thanked all the ministry leaders for their work.
## AOB
DB proposed a vote of thanks for TD in his role as our pastor. Everyone agreed.
TD expressed how incredibly grateful he is for the million and one things that the fellowship does to support and encourage each other. He said that fellowship is a transformational thing and that we should not take it for granted as we work together.
- 7:05pm DB was asked to close the meeting in prayer.

## **Child & Vulnerable Persons Protection Policy**
Moorside Harvest Community Church operates a child and vulnerable persons protection policy, which includes the recording of personal information, and DBS checks on individuals where required. The DBS checks are administered through Thirtyone:Eight. Further details are available on request
## **Praying Hands**
Moorside Harvest Community Church operates an emergency prayer service, known as Praying Hands where individuals can request prayer in the event of an emergency. Each church prayer warrior is immediately contacted and given details of the prayer request.
