## **Chairman’s (Pastor’s) Report 2020/21:** 

This was the year in which everything changed.  It would be fair to say that the covid pandemic presented challenges that no-one could have predicted and Fresh Church had to find new ways of fulfilling its charitable objectives. 

Some things had to come to a full stop or at least be suspended.  Our Ladies Bible Study, Fresh Coffee, a local visitation program for the new housing development and my regular attendance at St Thomas School breakfast club could not carry on.  Our traditional community carol singing on Christmas Eve was cancelled in 2020, but we were able to hold our Festive Fellowship party online. 

Fresh Kids was particularly affected by lockdown.  Not only was it not possible to use the restricted school room space during this time, but parents of Fresh Kids chose to stay at home during the crisis. 

During this year technology made it possible to continue our work.  During the early stages our sermons and worship were recorded remotely and then edited during the week so that they could be broadcast on Social Media on Sunday.  When we were able to meet together, parts of the service were live-streamed and, although online interest eventually waned, we continue to reach and serve people from all over the world. 

Zoom helped us to continue our prayer meetings albeit on Wednesday evenings instead of Sunday night.  Likewise Elders and Deacon’s meetings were held via Zoom.  Later in the year we were able to add a ‘Growth Group’ Meditation night, also via Zoom.  At Easter we streamed several ‘One Minute Testimonies’ about what Easter means to us. 

As things gradually returned to some form of normality we were able to invite Restart, a ministry to sex workers and vulnerable women, and The Leprosy Mission to give presentations to our congregation. 

A highlight for this year was the commencement of Box of Hope, a community food poverty programme.  Over Christmas three food deliveries were made to 36 local families.  We were also able to make a further delivery during February half term. 

It would be fair to say that in spite of the pandemic we managed to fulfil our objectives as a charity.  More that that, by God’s grace, we found ways of adapting and even extending our work to fit the need.  This is testimony to how a small family of dedicated, hard working believers can use their creative skills to overcome in challenging times.  You should all be congratulated.

## **Minutes:** 

## Fresh Church Annual General Meeting 6:00pm 4[th] October 2020 

The AGM began at 6pm.  There was no fellowship meal due to the requirement to practice social distancing. 

Members Present: Dave Butt, Mary Butt, Christine Cowling (Treasurer), Stephen Cowling, Terry Durose (Pastor), Janet Durose (Secretary), Rosemary Fullerd, Carlos Hidderley, Beryl Laming, Stewart Laming (SL), Sue Laming (SueL). 

Apologies: Ray and Marlene Jackson,  Karen Zehlin 

Members not attending: Michael Erebor, Nosa Erebor 

Non-members Present: Rudy and Yolandi De Sa 

6:00pm: TD read Psalm 199 then opened the meeting in prayer. 

Minutes from the AGM held on 13/10/19 

The meeting accepted minutes as an accurate record. Proposed DB, Seconded SC.  All in agreement. 

Matters arising from the minutes 

None 

Finance Report 

- CC pointed out that, compared to the 2018/2019 accounts, giving was now higher while expenses were lower. 

- CC reminded the meeting about the importance of tithing; not only by individuals to the church but by the church to other ministries.  Tithing unlocks God’s blessings. 

- CC noted that Gift Aid amounted to almost £5.500 in the period covered. 

- This 2019/2020 financial year ended just as the Coronavirus pandemic began. 

- DB said that he and MB were very grateful for the support shown both personally and for the Criccieth Beach Mission 

The meeting unanimously agreed to pass the finance report.  Proposed BL, Seconded DB 

On the grounds that the Minutes and Finance Report had been accepted by the meeting, the Annual Report for 2019/2020 was passed. 

The meeting thanked both CC and JD for their work.

RDS and YDS confirmed that they had read and understood the Fresh Church Constitution. Interviewed and recommended by JD & CC

Unanimously agreed.  RDS and YDS will be welcomed into membership at the next convenient morning service. 

## Selection of Deacons 

Christine Cowling: Treasurer (CC and SC left the meeting) 

After a short discussion the meeting unanimously agreed that CC should continue serve the church as a deacon for a term of 3 years.

After a short discussion the meeting unanimously agreed that BL should continue serve the church as a deacon for a term of 3 years.

## Ministry Reports 

The following people gave brief verbal reports regarding their various ministries within Fresh Church; it should be noted that the notes below relate to 1st April 2019 to 31st March 2020. 

- SL - Building 

   - There had been no major problems but there are a number of smaller jobs which are ongoing. 

   - It was noted that the deacons had introduced a policy stating that jobs should be done within 6 weeks of notification. 

- SueL - Fresh Kids 

   - Fresh Kids had a productive year. 

   - Subjects covered included ‘why and how we do church like we do’.  Fresh Kids also completed the ’17 Stories Course’ just before we were closed down by the pandemic. 

   - `o` Sue L thanked the teachers and helpers; 

- MB - Worship 

   - MB read from Psalm 57; 

   - MB thanked Beccy Laming, TD, JD and SC for their support with worship and told the meeting that YDS had also joined the worship team during the current reporting year. 

   - `o` DB was thanked for his work on the sound desk. 

   - It was noted that CC and SL joined the sound desk team just before the Coronavirus lockdown started and that a rota was planned. 

   - MB reminded the meeting that we had our first ‘online’ service on 29th March. 

- CC - Ladies Bible Study (closed due to pandemic) 

   - Subjects had continued with the “I Am” statements of Jesus’ and had begun to study the Lord’s Prayer. 

   - Numbers had been low but consistent. 

- SC - Coffee Morning (closed due to pandemic) 

   - The coffee morning had seen consistent numbers with non-church people attending; 

- Sl - Rock Solid update (SL and SueL have retired from this work)

## **Child & Vulnerable Persons Protection Policy** 

Moorside Harvest Community Church operates a child and vulnerable persons protection policy, which includes the recording of personal information, and DBS checks on individuals where required. The DBS checks are administered through Thirtyone:Eight. Further details are available on request 

## **Praying Hands** 

Moorside Harvest Community Church operates an emergency prayer service, known as Praying Hands where individuals can request prayer in the event of an emergency. Each church prayer warrior is immediately contacted and given details of the prayer request. 

Fresh Church meets at 10:30am every Sunday morning
