## **TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT** 

## **FOR PERIOD 6[TH] APRIL  2022 - 5[th] APRIL 2023** 

Annual funding was made available to the Pettman (National Junior) Academy, Royal Overseas League and various Departments of Opera North Ltd. 

## ROYAL OVERSEAS LEAGUE 

The new World’s Edge Festival has become established near Queenstown in New Zealand.   Two talented scholars, pianist Otis Prescott-Mason and cellist Jack Moyer are to visit ROSL in London during late summer for coaching before playing concerts at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.   They are then to travel to Europe to engage in and absorb further courses. 

## PETTMAN (NATIONAL JUNIOR) ACADEMY 

The Sixteenth Annual Akaroa Festival took place in January in glorious weather, and was very well received.   New visitors from America were delighted at the music they experienced,  and local people thoroughly enjoyed what they considered the very best Festival to date. 

Students from New Zealand and Australia mixed in various ensembles, the highlight of which was a concert including Tchaikovsky’s Piano Trio and a Mozart Clarinet quintet. 

The first Pettman Ensemble CD - NAXOS -   Beethoven/Hummel CD was featured with great interest and enquiries followed as to when the next CD was to be available. 

## OPERA NORTH LTD 

Funding was available for various aspects of Opera North including Artists’ Development, the Orchestra and the Pettman DARE Music Works which invites teenage students from New Zealand to study in the UK with involvement from Leeds University, offering advice and expertise to enable them to achieve their objectives and earn their Fellowships.
