PETTMAN (CLASSICAL MUSIC) FOUNDATION

TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT

FOR PERIOD 9[TH] MAY 2021 - 8[th] MAY 2022

Annual funding was made available to the Pettman National Junior Academy and Departments of Opera North Ltd.

ROYAL OVER-SEAS LEAGUE

Following online auditions, necessary because of the continuation of Covid-19, a string quartet of all undergraduate students from Auckland University were chosen. Their name - Viereinigkeit. This activity was part of the Pettman Scholarship and was held at a festival in Queenstown – The New World’s Edge Festival.

PETTMAN (NATIONAL JUNIOR) ACADEMY

The Fifteenth Annual Akaroa Festival took place in Akaroa, New Zealand, with some larger groups of musicians playing in Christchurch. As last year, some artists from abroad were unable to travel but many New Zealand instrumentalists stood in for them.

The Festival was again successful and much enjoyed by the local people.

The Chamber Music Programme was again, very successful following tutoring being done online.

OPERA NORTH LTD

This year was a busy and difficult one but finally the massive renovation work on The Howard Opera Centre in Leeds was completed.

The Pettman DARE Programme was up and running again with one UK participant. As Covid was still prevailing no one from New Zealand was able to attend.
