Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main At a meeting as Trustees, of the City of Bradford MDC’s Regulatory and achievements of the charity Appeals Committee, on 29.02.2024, the trustees considered The Charles during the year Semon Educational Foundation Trust and the allocation of grant funding. The Strategic Director of Children’s Services submitted a report to the meeting which provided an update on the current position and intended grant allocations from The Charles Semon Educational Foundation Trust. Established in 2003, following sale of a convalescent home and associated land, the income generated from this sale, as stipulated in the deeds of the then owners, was split between Bradford Girls School, Bradford Grammar School and the Local Education Authority. The above report focused on the Local Education Authority element of the fund. The trustees resolved: (1) that members acknowledge and approve the proposals outlined in Appendix A to Document I for the allocation of grant funding from The Charles Semon Educational Foundation Trust for 2023-24 and 2024-25. (2) that members receive an updated report in February 2025 that reports back to the committee the outcomes from the proposal and that further outlines the intended allocation of grant funding from The Charles Semon Educational Foundation Trust for the future. Financial grants of £83,000 were awarded by The Charles Semon Educational Foundation Trust in 2024-25. At a meeting as Trustees, of the City of Bradford MDC’s Regulatory and Appeals Committee, on 07.08.2025, the trustees considered The Charles Semon Educational Foundation Trust and the allocation of grant funding. The Strategic Director of Children’s Services submitted a report to the meeting which provided an update on the current position and the future grant allocations from The Charles Semon Educational Foundation Trust. The trustees resolved: (1) that members acknowledge the proposals and benefits achieved for some of the district’s most vulnerable children by the utilisation of funding from the Charles Semon Educational Foundation Trust. (2) that the Council and the Children and Families Trust continue to work collaboratively to deliver further outdoor education opportunities in line with the underpinning principles by the Charles Semon Educational Foundation Trust. (3) that members receive an updated report in 12 months’ time that reports back to the committee the outcomes from the future delivery and outlines the intended allocations of grant funding from the Charles Semon Educational Foundation Trust for the future.

Responsibilities and As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation basis of report of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
