Chair’s Report July 2023
This is my final year as Chair of the committee of the Lydiard Millicent After-School Club (ASC) committee, and attendance has finally started to get back to normal. Caroline and the team have done a fantastic job to rebuild the afterschool club towards what is was like pre covid.
Additionally, I would like to express sincere thanks on behalf of myself and my fellow Committee Members, to our wonderful staff, supportive parents, and lovely children.
Existing Committee
Committee numbers have been consistent throughout this academic year and representation has been quorum for every session held in 2022 – 2023. Thanks to Vicki Tee, Heather Box, Vicky Venter, Chris Brock, John Marquiss, Gemma Barroussel, and Caroline for continuing to meet to review policies and strategies, budget pay & personnel H&S and safeguarding of the After School Club.
Committee - Resignations
Unfortunately, I am having to stand down as ASC committee chair and will need to find the next chair during this year’s annual general meeting (AGM). I will however be staying on as a committee member.
We have been fortunate enough not to receive any other resignations this academic year. Heather Box has resigned from March 2024. Without a minimum of 5 committee members, the ASC would be forced to close. It is a small commitment (only 4 – 5hours per year). Should the next chair not be confirmed at the AGM, an emergency AGM will be required within two weeks to confirm a chair. With no confirmation of a chair the afterschool club with be forced to shut.
Club Employees
ASC staff have settled back into a normal year following the recovery back to steady children attendance levels as per the pre covid era. Thank you all for all your efforts.
Club Finances
Financially, the club is still facing the consequences of covid and the enforced closure. However, we are seeing a steady stream of bookings throughout the weeks and really are looking forward to a positive period going into the next academic year.
New Committee members
No new committee members at present.
Should any parents be interested in joining the committee when we return in September 2023, we can assure you that the direct input is minimal under normal circumstances, and this allows you to voice an opinion to directly influence what happens at the club.
Over the next 12 months we must work hard to revive the ASC to the exiting place this once was and put the happiness and individual development of the children at the forefront of our decisions.

I would like to say “Goodbye and Good Luck” to those year 6 club members that are going up to secondary school at the end of this year. If you know of any parents that are looking for after school care from September, please ask them to contact Caroline directly (details on our website) and she will be happy to discuss how the club can help.
I would like to say thank you to our committee members Heather Box, Vicky Tee, Vicky Venter, Chris Brock, John Marquiss and Gemma Barroussel for the late evenings and dedication helping change our children’s life for the better. Finally, a big thank you to Caroline McKellar, who has shown unfailing dedication, wisdom, and vision in the development of the settings and has been the driving force behind the amazing achievements made at Lydiard Millicent After School Club.
