Chair’s Report July 2022
This is my third year as Chair of the committee of the After-School Club (ASC) Committee, and it great to see things returning to normality! Caroline and the Team have been busy continuing to rebuild the bonds between careers and children and returning to routine without Covid.
Existing Committee
Committee numbers have been sturdy during this academic year and representation has been adequate to every meeting held in 2021 – 2022. There has been a good representation and currently no stepping down from existing members during 2022. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Andy Mitchell, Heather Box, Vicky Venter, Chris Brock, John Marquiss, Gemma Barroussel, and Caroline for continuing to meet to review policies and strategies, budget pay & personnel H&S and safeguarding of the After School Club.
Committee - Resignations
We have been fortunate enough not to receive any resignations this academic year. Without a minimum of 5 committee members, the ASC would be forced to close. It’s a very small commitment (only 4 – 5 hours per year).
Club Employees
This year has been a complex year with the return to ‘almost normality’ following the prolonged closure of the ASC. However, has left is scars with the flexibility parents are receiving following a sustained period of work in from home. This has also been further impaired by the introduction of breakfast club, offering further flexibility to parent before school.
Club Finances
Financially, the club is facing the repercussions of COVID and the enforced closure. Whilst trying to rebuild the attendance, a substantial change in ‘Ways of Working’ means a more work is required to adapt and evolve.
New Committee members
No new committee members at present.
Should any parents be interested in joining the Committee, when we return in September 2022, we can assure you that the direct input is minimal, under normal circumstances, and this allows you to voice an opinion to directly influence what happens at the club. Over the next 12 months we will strive to adapt revive the ASC to the exiting place this once was and put the happiness and individual development of the children at the forefront of our decisions.

I would like to say “Goodbye and Good Luck” to those year 6 club members that are going up to secondary school at the end of this year. If you know of any parents that are looking for after school care from September, please ask them to contact Caroline directly (details on our website) and she will be happy to discuss how the club can help.
Finally, I would like to say thank you to Caroline McKellar for her hard work and dedication during the last year in dealing with the After School Club in the after mouth of Covid this has been and remains an extremely difficult job. And re-iterate my thanks to our committee members Andy Mitchell, Heather Box, Vicky Venter, Chris Brock, John Marquiss and Gemma Barroussel for the late evenings and dedication helping change our children’s life for the better.
