The Church is run by the members in accordance with its own constitution and rules. Principal Activities: The principal aclivilies of the Charity continued io be those of promoting the objects ivhich are as follows= l. To organise the Church for the spreading of the word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ on Earth. 2. to proclaim the Gospel of Salvation. Baptize and Heal the sick, and 3. to prepare people for the rapidly changing world enabling them to improve their socioFeconomic situation by utilising resources '1th]n their reach To date the Charity has financed various poverty reduction and development projects in Southern Africa including HIV outreach, buildings roads and transport, water conservation projects, vegetable and poultry projects: schools, churches and conference centres and pre-school feeding schemes. Review of Activities: The total income for the year was £990,785 (?023: £717,795). The total expenditure was £788,037 (202) £689:968) giving net incoming resources of £202,748 (2023 incoming:. £27,827). Summary of Activities: The Church holds regular services in various towns in the UK and supports various Charlble activities in the UK and overseas.
ZION CHRISTIAN CHURCH TRUSTEES, REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024 Trustees, responsibilities: The Trustees are required to prepar¢ accounts for each year which give a true and fair view of the Church and the surplus or deficit for that period. In preparing the accounts, the Trustees are required to: select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent prepare the accounts on a going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the Church will continue in operation. ensure that the accounts comply with the Charities Act 2011 safeguard the assets of the Church and hence taking steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. Investnjent policies: Under the Trust deed, the Charity has the power to make any investments &s the Trustees see fit. Reserves policy: The trustees have considered the level of reserves they wish to retain, appropriate to the charity's needs. The trustees aim to ensure the charity will be able to continue to fulfil its charitable objectives. Risk Assessment: The trustees actively review the major risks which ihe charity faces on a regular basis and believe that mainiaining the free reserves stated combined with the annual review of the controls over key financial systems carried out on an annual basis will provide sufficient resources in the event of adverse conditions. The trustees have also exatnined other operational and business risks which they face and confirm that they have established systems to tnitigate the significant risks. ZION CHRISTIAN CHURCH INDEPEIYDEiYf EXAMINER'S REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024 I report on the accounts of the Church for the year ended 31 December 2024 which are set out on pages 4 to9. Respective responsibilities of Trustees and Examiller The charity's Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's Trustees consider that an audit is not required lor this year {under section 144 (2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act)} and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: examine the accounts (under section 145) of the 201 l Act; to follow the procedures laid dow'n in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners (under section 145 (5)(b) of the 201 l Act= to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basis of Independent Examiner's report My examination was carrted out in accordance w ith the General Directions given by the Charity Comtnissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison olthe accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as Trustees concerning any such matlers. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audil opinion on the view given by the accounts. ZION CHRISTIAN CHURCH BALANCE SHEET AS AT 31 DECEMBER 2024 Accounting Policies 1.1 Basis of accounting The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. The accounts have been pr¢par¢d in accordance with applicable accounting standards. the Statement of Recommended Practice: "Accounting and Reporting by Charities '. preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland(FRSI 02) (effective I January 2015) - (Charities SORP- FRS102) and the Charities Act 2011. Preparation of the accounts is on a going concem basis. The trustees consider that there are no material uncertainties about the Charity's ability to continue as a going concem. Incoming resources All incoming resources are reflected in the accounts when the charity is legally entitled to the income and the amount can be quantified with reasonable accuracy. Resources expended All expenditure is accounted for on an accrual basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all costs related to that category.. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings, Ihey have been allocated to activities on a b&%is consistent to the use of the resource. Fund accounting Unrestricted Funds: Unrestricted funds are expendable at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the objects of the organisation. The fund comprises the accumulaled surpluses and deficits of unrestricted income and expenditure. 1.4.2 Restricted Funds These funds are where the donor has specified a purpose for the donation made. Fixed assets The freehold premises at Great Park Street are shown at the original cost. Fixed assets are accounted for at their original cost. Assets that have a useful life of less than one year and costing less than £l.000 are not capitalised.
