Chairs Report NYPP AGM 21[st] April 2022
I am very pleased to welcome you all to the Newbald Young People’s Project Annual General Meeting 2022.
As always, I would like to thank all the committee members for their hard work and dedication this year. Without you this building and the clubs held here would not exist. It is never easy relying on everyone’s goodwill as we are all so busy, but as always you have all stepped up and gone above and beyond to keep this place not only running but also developing what we offer. The AGM is a nice time to sit back and think of all we have achieved over the last year. I think we sometimes forget that not many villages or towns have a place like The Rooms and we should all be proud of the space and opportunities we provide here.
I would also like to thank Richard Croston for preparing the accounts for the charity. Special thanks also go to our new volunteers – Paul Clucas, Dave Frampton, Dave Blamires, John Ramsell and Joanna Borecka. We cannot express how much we appreciate you giving up your time. Welcome to the team!
Many thanks too to our youth workers Tracey Beasty and Mandy Andrews – Mandy has been with us just over a year but already feels like she has always been here. And to Raveen and Laura who have taken on the Friday night sessions. We thank you all for their commitment in making the youth groups a welcoming and fun place for local young people to attend. Many thanks too go to Debbie, Lucy and Sophie who give up their Thursdays to run the Toddler group, it is lovely to see a toddler group in the village again as we all know what a lifeline this was when our children were younger.
Youth Groups
We have had some challenges in retaining number this year as not everyone has continued to attend after Covid restrictions ended, but we continue to increase our profile via social media and hope that as more people learn about our presence they will see what a great place this is and will want to be involved.
The Friday nights remain popular, and we have developed the facilities available to the older children to include a pool table, table football and basketball net.
Cookery Club has just restarted in a different format and was very well received. Hopefully this is just the beginning of starting to redevelop this
very popular session so that many more children can benefit from the facilities we have here.
It was only in September 2021 that we started Toddler Group – we now have three volunteers running the weekly sessions with a modest but regular group of mums and toddlers attending. We hope to promote this group during the village Gala when we will have a craft and activity tent aimed at the younger generation.
The Building
With the assistance of our new maintenance team we have finally managed to tick off some jobs on the DIY To Do list! After about 8 years the key box has finally been put up – just a shame that no one can remember the combination to it! Not to mention the erection of ‘the sign’ – at long last people know where we are. The Rooms is really looking at its best – which is fantastic as we will have the chance to show it off during the jubilee celebrations in June.
The repair of the back wall also took place this year and it has made a significant difference to how our outside area looks. The new lights outside have made it a much safer area for the Friday youth club group on a dark evening, and when we get the BBQ repaired and renovated we might even be able to manage a Summer BBQ evening for the older group.
Funding
As I look back over the year we have had some really successful events – the apple harvest this year was exceptional. I have never taken so many apples to be juiced – We extend our thanks to Adrian Hancock and the Richardson family for very kindly donating all the apples (and the Tuesday youth group and committee of course for picking them!)
The Christmas fair was held for the first time in the village hall and I think I can say for certain that we have established a reputation for holding a really high quality festive event.
Pop up pizza was again well received – this is the second time we have held this event and it is now firmly in the calendar as an annual occurrence.
This year will hopefully see a few more events as life starts to return for normal and it will be great to host events such as the wine tasting again.
The successful application for ERYC food hygiene rating means that we can restart Meal on Wheels – which I know will be well received by the older residents of the village.

All policies and procedures are in the process of being reviewed with completion set for the end of the month.

Independent examiner's report on the accounts NEWBALD CHURCH ROOMS YOUNG PEOLPLE'S PROJECT Charity number 1095450
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31 December 2021 set out on page 2.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner’s statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of

the Charities Act; or
-
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
-
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
