CREAMER AGM CHAIR’S REPORT TO TRUSTEES

In this last year we have been attempting to evolve CREAMER to continue to improve the health of our local community despite the effects of the increased cost of living felt by everyone.

We feel very grateful to have such high calibre and dedicated doctors, nurses and ancillary staff at The Freshwell Health Centre.

I would like to thank Dr Kim Andrews, Dr David Oliver, David Shedden and all their colleagues for their commitment and support for CREAMER in its aim to continue to enhance healthcare in this local community.

The constraints from Coronavirus have gradually receded.

The books and jigsaws are back in the waiting room. I would like to particularly thank Christopher and Jane Blewett, Rosalie Wyatt, Stella Curry and Ines Warner for their industry in looking after these.

Raffles are back. Many thanks to Rosalie Wyatt, Sylvia Gould and all her helpers for organising these. Both of these activities promote CREAMER to a wider audience which really helps.

Income from funding and donations in 2023 was £36,000 which is £8,000 more than 2022 but expenditure was up by £20,000. This increased expenditure is principally for diagnostic services: X-rays, Ultrasound scans, Heart Echocardiograms, Bone densitometry scans (for diagnosing osteoporosis) and liquid nitrogen to treat skin lesions. These all enable patients to be diagnosed and treated more quickly and closer to home avoiding the need to visit hospitals.

A further defibrillator has been purchased and the bleed/stab kits are in hand to be placed at appropriate sites in the villages.

A replacement 24 hour cardiac monitor and a second dermatoscope were purchased for the surgery.

Visits by the Laughter Specialists to local schools and a local child and family have been very well received.

I would like to thank all my fellow trustees for their industry in driving CREAMER forward and particularly our secretary, Sarah McCarthy, and our treasurer, Debbie Rogers, for their continuing help throughout the year. They both have CREAMER at the forefront of their thinking wherever they are and always come up with useful ideas for us
