1. Minutes of the meeting from 2023 AGM.

The minutes were approved by the 2024 AGM.

2. Chairman’s Address

Debbie gave an overview of the last 12 months and advised that donations and income received have exceeded our outgoings. She confirmed we have offered practical support through bra vouchers, cleaning and support grants. We have also funded nipple tattooing for the first time. We have subsidised complementary treatments for Reiki, Reflexology and McTimoney sessions.

She gave an update on our Breast Friends’ allotment. We have received lottery funding for this allowing us to have 6 raised beds and a patio area. A shed and greenhouse have been donated and the area will hopefully become a community garden where ladies can come together and socialise.

She said that Breast Friends Solihull is about friendship, supporting others and having fun.

3. Treasurer’s Report and Statement of Accounts

Kam was not at the meeting but Debbie advised that we have received £202,997 this year with outgoings of £19,953. Our income was made up of some sizeable donations and also fundraising events. She confirmed that we are all volunteers so all the money goes to help members and we will be using some of the funds to create the community garden at the allotment. We are continuing to apply for grants and Debbie advised that our accounts would be available on the Charities Commission website for anyone to look at. As we have had some large donations this year our accounts will be independently audited to ensure we are complying with regulations.

She said if anyone had any suggestions for spending our funds to let the committee know.

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Breast Friends-Solihull

Year ended 30 April 2024

I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of Breast Friends-Solihull ('the charity') for the year ended 30 April 2024.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the charity's financial statements carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the financial statements do not accord with those records; or

  3. the financial statements do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair' view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
