We employ two researchers/lecturers, Paul Garner
— PG (full time) and
Dr Stephen Lloyd
— SL (part time), as well as Matthew Pickhaver (MP) as
our Communications Manager (part time). An associate researcher, Dr| ||William Worraker (WW), is supported but not employed by the charity.| ||We summarise our main activities below.| ||Speaking engagements. From April 2021 to March 2022 PG, SL and| ||MP delivered around 30 talks and lectures. The number of "in-person"| ||speaking engagements started to pick up with the easing of covid| ||restrictions, although some continued to take place online. They spoke at| ||public meetings, conferences, church services, training seminars,| ||theological colleges and youth events. Among the engagements were| ||talks at a student conferenceattended by about 80 young people and| ||lectures to theological students at a London-based seminary. Other| ||meetings took place in Yorkshire, Lancashire, Worcestershire, the| ||Midlands, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Kent. PG also recorded talks for a| ||virtual meeting being hosted in the Netherlands and two conferences| ||taking place in the USA.| ||Online outreach and media. We continued to post videos to our| ||YouTube channel, which by the end of the reporting period had about| ||500 subscribers and had received about 20,000 views. The audience for| ||ourfortnightly podcast, co-hosted by PG and Dr Todd Wood, has also| ||continued to grow. By March 2022, we had released about 30 episodes| ||and had gained about 850 subscribers onYouTube.The podcast is also| ||available on several other streaming platforms. SL was interviewed twice| ||for TalkRadio, in May and July 2021, and in January 2022 PG recorded| ||an interviewwith an independent production company for a forthcoming
documentary. We continued to communicate regularly with supporters by| ||way of a newsletter issued three times a year alongside a monthly email
update. We also maintained an active social media presence on
Facebook and Twitter.| ||Research. WW continued to receive support from our organisation for his| ||work on a quantitative geophysics project, with the fourth in a series of| ||peer-reviewed papers based on this research nearing completion. PG| ||worked on three research projects, with research assistance from| ||students. One is a comparison of the order of branching in published| ||phylogenies with the order offossil appearances, another is a| ||morphological study of fossil horses, and the third is a statistical analysis| ||of a large geochronological database. We hope to publish peer-reviewed| ||papers reporting the results of these research projects in 2023. PG and| ||WW acted as reviewers for a number of other academic papers and| ||conference abstracts throughoutthe year.
Other activities. Editorial work continued onsubmissions to our own| ||open-access online journal and the third volume was published in| ||November 2021. We also contributed articles to a number of other print| ||and online publications. A new book by PG, a large-format, full-colour| ||hardback with over 200 watercolour illustrations, was published in the| ||USA (in December 2021) and UK (in January 2022). Both PG and SL are| ||working on other book projects.
