THE PROMOTION OF COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN HEALTHY RECREATION FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF ALTOFTS AND SURROUNDING DISTRICTS BY THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES FOR PLAYING BOWLS, CRICKET AND FOOTBALL
Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document
The charity provides sports facilities for three sports, Football, Cricket and Bowls, in Altofts. The facilities are used by adults and children from Altofts and the surrounding area. The facilities allow both adults and children to get active.
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
The charity provides lockable changing facilities and showers to allow members to change and shower in dignity. The charity also provides a clubhouse that can be used by all members. All the facilities allow sport to be played at a high amateur level. During the summer sport is played on most days while during the winter sport is played 2 or 3 times a week. We have around 300 members which participate in sport while also providing spectator facilities for both members and non-members. Due to covid we were unable to provide as many benefits as we would have liked but when restrictions were lifted we provided a space in which people can play sport again. We received many comments from people saying that allowing sport has really helped people’s mental health and this is something we are proud of.
In all that we do, we keep in mind the charity commissions guidance on public benefit.

Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
Covid has played a major role in the charities activities this year. During lockdown the facilities were temporarily mothballed. The pitches were maintained to a minimum level ready for when sport could be played again. When restrictions were lifted we opened up the pitches to the various sports. While following all the guidance set out by the government this allowed adults and children from Altofts and Surrounding areas to once again play sport. The Clubhouse and changing facilities remained closed. When the guidance changed again we allowed the Altofts Sports Club Bar (a separate entity, who run the bar in the clubhouse) to run a table service licenced bar from the facilities. Following further lifting in restrictions we allowed the changing facilities to be used. As restrictions changed we continued to follow the guidance and closed the clubhouse and facilities when we were required. Throughout the year our aim has been to provide the facilities while keeping people safe by following all guidance.
At the start of he year covid brought us uncertainty. We still had costs to pay but could see little income coming in. We were unsure what the future held and actually questioned if we could continue if there was a prolonged period of lockdown. However due to grants from the government by Jan 2021 we were in a comfortable position. We also received other grants and support from Altofts Sports Club Bar. This allowed us to start the renovation of the clubhouse. The clubhouse was looking dated and had not been updated since the 1970’s. In march 2021 we were half way the renovation. The renovation is set to create a modern and clean environment for members to use.
