THE BURMESE CAT CLUB BENEVOLENT FUND Charity number: 1094488 Trustees Report

The trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 31 December 2023.

The Benevolent Fund rehomed 32 cats in 2023 and provided support for ongoing health conditions, as per the charity's charter.

The income of the charity is derived from donations by the members of the Burmese Cat Club, various small fundraisings and legacies. People who take on the ownership of a rehomed cat also make donations. During the year three legacies were received totalling £43,890 of which £36,390 was received from one legacy. The total income for the year was £58,901 and this includes £3,073 relating to interest received.

A new donation scheme for adopting the cats was introduced and has been fully accepted. This scheme is deemed fairer and unifies the donations made.

The expenditure for the year totalled £9,199 giving rise to a suplus for the year of £49,702.

All funds surplus to current operation requirements are held in a deposit account and these funds are utilised to top up the current account, which is in place for the day-today running of the charity. In addition, there are funds deposited in two investment accounts which are within the Charity Commission's guidlines.

We have considered the current ecomomic climate in respect of whether individuals will have the financial resources to retain / adopt the cats in the coming years. Each case will have to be reviewed as it occurs, but the charity believes it would be beneficial for the welfare of the cats if we could ensure that they were kept with their familes and therefore, we will support the familes accordingly. The Charity's quality systems are regularly reviewed and the critcal policies have been updated. There have been no serious incidents to report.
