**Objects:** TO PRESERVE AND PROMOTE THE HERITAGE OF THE COALFIELD AND POTTERY AREAS IN SOUTH DERBYSHIRE, NORTH WEST LEICESTERSHIRE AND EAST STAFFORDSHIRE AREA BY:1) TO MAINTAIN, CONSERVE AND SUPPLEMENT TO THE EXISTING HISTORICAL ARCHIVE OF DOCUMENTS, PHOTOGRAPHS, LETTERS, MAPS, NEWSPAPERS, BOOKS AND OTHER RECORDS IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT.2) TO PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN FACILITIES FOR THE PUBLIC TO RESEARCH ALL ASPECTS OF HISTORY IN THE AREA OF  BENEFIT.3) TO ADVANCE THE HISTORICAL EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT BY ORGANISING EXHIBITIONS, LECTURE, TALKS, PRESENTATIONS AND CONFERENCES.

**Activities:** Provides newspaper archives for research etc, other local archives, companies, industrial info, photographs (35000) and  approx  1000 maps. We sell our own local history books (produced in house) to raise funds to operate, provide schools with local history information in classes. We provide a free entry reading room for visitors and other local groups.
