Reserves Policy
The Board of Trustees has examined the charity's requirerllents for reserves in light ol the main risks
lo the organisalion.11 has established a policy whereby the unrestricted funds, not committed, should
equate to 3-6 months projected expenditure. At that level the charity should, in the event of decline
in funding, be able lo continue all activities until funding is replaced or activities altered. Money from
reserves has been designated lor developrllenl work which has not been possible in previous years.
A level of core activities is funded from unrestricled reserves.
Gurrent reserves are £1 ,282,926 which equates lo approximately 6 months project expendilure.

Auditor's responslbllilies tor the audit of the financial statements
Our objectives are lo obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements as a
whole are free from material misstaterllent, whether duo lo fraud or error, and to issue an auditor's
report Ihat includes our opinion. Reasonable assurance is a high level ol assurance, bul is not a
guarantee that an audit conducted in accordance with ISAS IUKI will always delecl a material
misslatemenl when il exists. Misslaternenls can arise from fraud or error and are considered material
if. individually or in the aggregate, they could reasonably be expected to influence the economic
decisions ol users taken on the basis ol these financial slatemenls.
Irregularities, including fraud, are instances ol non-compliance with laws and regulations. We
design procedures in line with our responsibilities, outlined above, lo delect material ￿l$stateMentS
in respect ol irregularities, including fraud. The exlenl lo which our procedures are capable of
detecting irregularities, including fraud is detailed below.
We considered Ihe nature of the charitable companies activities and ils control environment. We
also enquired ol management about their idenlilicalion and assessment of the risks ol
irregularities.
We obtained an understanding of the legal and regulatory framework in which the charitable
company operates and identified key laws and regulations that..
Had a direct ellect on the determination ol material amounts and disclosures in the financial
slatemenls, which included the Companie5 Act 2006, lax legislation and payroll legislation.,
and
Did not have a direct eff ect on the financial statements bul compliance with which rnay be
lundamenlal lo the charitable company s ability lo operate.
We discussed among the audit engagement team the opportunities and incentives that may exist
within the organisation for fraud and how I where fraud might occur in the financial statements.
In common with all audits under ISA5 IUKI, we are also required to pertorm specific procedures to
respond to the risk ol management override. In addressing the risk ol fraud through managerllent
override of controls, we tested the appropriateness of accounting adjLJslmenls and journal entries,
assessed whether accounting eslimales were reasonable and accurate and reviewed the
accounling records for any significant and unusual transactions.
In addition, our procedures lo respond lo the risks identified included..
Reviewing financial statement disclosures by lesling to supporting documentation lo assess
cornpliance with provisions ol relevant laws and regulations described as having a direct
effect on the financial slalemenls.
Performing analytical procedures to identify any unusual or unexpected variances that may
indicate risks ol material rnisslatement due to fraud.,
Enquiring ol management about any instances ol non-compliance with laws and regulations
and any instances of known or suspected fraud.
Reading rninutes of meetings of those charged with governance
Because of the inherent limitations of an audit, there is a risk that we will not delecl all
irregularilie5, including those leading to a rnalerial misstatement in the financial statements or non-
compliance with regulation. This risk increases the more that compliance with a law or regulation
is removed from the events and transactions reflected in the financial slalemenls, as we will be
less likely to become aware ol instances ol non-compliance. The risk is also greater regarding
irregularities occurring due lo fraud rather than error, as fraud involves intentional concealment,
forgery, collusion. ornission or misrepresentation.
