Soundwell's mission statement is: "To enhance the mental health of people experiencing emotional and mental distress by promoting and providing an inclusive, community-based service of music therapy which includes outreach, short and long term groups and individual work"Music therapy is the use of musical instruments and the sounds they make to promote change and recovery.

Objects: "1. To preserve and protect mental health and wellbeing for people living in the South West of England, through the practice of music therapy and other musical activities that promote health and wellbeing. 2. To advance the education of the public, and in particular service providers and the music therapy profession, into the benefits of music therapy and other musical activities that promote health and wellbeing, for people experiencing emotional or mental distress."
