Cultural Subjects:
From April 2022 onwards on every Saturday Afternoons and Sunday all day, Coventry Tamil Welfare Association conducted classes in Bharatanatyam (South Indian classical dance), Carnatic Music, Keyboard, Miruthangam Instrument, Violin and Veena instrument. This project was aimed at pupils who are most at risk of disaffection. It provided them with a range of experiences that improved their selfesteem and helped them to view life in a more positive light. In addition, the project aimed at helping to understand cultural awareness and heritage. It provided several innovative resources that helped them achieve better standards. This initiative was organized at the request of the parents.
The project is a success, and this has been proved by the event we had on the 23[rd] April 2022, where all the children who were involved in this project performed in the presence of the Deputy Lord Mayor of Coventry Cllr Kevin Maton (Chief Guest for the evening) at the Willenhall Social Club, Coventry. All these children were presented with a certificate of achievement by the Chief Guest.
However, the real success was measured by the performance in the examinations conducted in April 2022.The examinations were conducted by a professional organization based in London – OFAAL (Oriental Fine Arts Academy of London - http://www.ofaal.com). Our youngsters took part in Coventry Cultural events organized by various ethnic groups. In addition, the youngsters also took part in the cultural event organized in London by the North Ceylon Cultural Academy.
Total Number of Children benefited from the project was 72 (Seventy-Two) in the age group of 5 years to 18 years of age. None of the children had any disabilities. The classes were conducted at the

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Coventry Tamil Welfare Association (CTWA)
I report on the accounts of the Coventry Tamil Welfare Association for the period ended 31 March 2023 which is set out on page 3-4.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act), as amended by s.28 of the Charities Act 2006 and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
Examine the accounts (under section 43 of the Act, as amended);
-
To follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 43(7)(b) of the Act, as amended); and
-
To state whether matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
Independent examiner’s statement
During my examination, no matter has come to my attention (other than that disclosed below):
-
Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect, the trustees have not met the requirements to ensure that:
-
Proper accounting records are kept (in accordance with section 41 of the Act).
-
accounts are prepared which agree with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Act, or
-
to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
