AS PRESENTED TO THE ANNUAL
FOR THE PERIOD 1ST APRIL 2023 . 31ST MARCH 2024
Brotherslsisters-in-lslam,
ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM
July 29th 2023 was 40 years for LICS however at the time of the AGM LICS will be in its 4181
year Sin￿ its formation. we continue to support and help our congregation and wider community
despite hard years of uncertainty due to the covid pandemic. We continue dealing with the fall
out of the Covid-19 Pandemic in terms of attendance to the Mosque, attendance at Madrassah
and booking of hall for weddings. Many attendees continue staying at home and utilising the
streaming facilities; there has been no significant change.
The work of LICS continues with the President and Trustees attending several initiatives
working in partnership in person and online with the NHS, London Borough Haringey,
Metropolitan Police, Age Concern, Faith Groups, Mosques, Civic events, and other agencies,
Trustees, Volunteer.
Helpers, members, local brothers, and Sisters make positive efforts by working with all
communities utilising various modes of communication and support. LICS continues to be a role
model for others to follow. LICS continue to advocate on behalf of familieslindividuals with the
local authority, housing, or benefits agencies to ensure a successfvl outcome. This work is built
on and continues from year to year.
Changes in different ways of working and engaging continue, in the last two years we had to
find other ways of connecting with members and the community as we faced a devastating
period due to the pandemic. Recovery has been slow as people are hesitant in attending events
for fear of catching covid or other infections. This affects income generating methods such as
lettings or donations for use of the wedding facilities.
LICS are represented on Faith Groups, London Faith & Beliefs Forum, SACRE, the Independent
Advisory Board [Police], and the Community Health Advisory Board. Representatives of LICS
attend many meetings to encourage building bridges in our community and hoping to impact
ser￿iCe delivery from all agencies for our diverse community.
LICS maintained yearly contracts for CCTV, PA system, Lift, fire safety and alarms, air
conditioning. and gas safety. In addition repairs are carried out as and when necessary and the
centre was regularly 'fogged' to contain infection, this has been continued quarterly.
MEETINGSIMEMBERSHIP
There are 12 Trustees currently. Membership donations continue to be sporadic as many
members were unable to send their contributions or made membership payments online or on
terminals. Trustees agreed to continue 2019-2020 as members for 2023-2024 because of the
pandemic. Membership fees will be reinstated for the year 2024-2025

LICS continue to welcome 60 Primary and Secondary Schools to visit the Mosque where
interactive Islamic facts are given in addition to a tour of the Mosque. Many children enjoy and
participate in the Q&A sessions.
LICS also held a Holocaust Memorial Educational Sesslon where 120 children attended the

continues to explore obtaining this service in the future.
Helpers Brahim and Omar provide and monitor access to services run by LICS such as opening
and closing the Mosque and safety, security aspects of the charity's building.
The Mosque continues to be an asset within our local community. LICS encourages non-
Muslims to visit the Mosque when it is allawed, and we continue to distribute free copies of the
Holy Quran and other related publications. The Mosque continues to welcome and visit different
faith groups. We have all worked hard to establish it and most importantly it is a place where we
and our families belong - I pray that Almighty Allah will bless, guide, and protect us all and that
He will bring us closer to Him.
Secretary's Report 23-24

The report also recognised LICS'S success as being the guidan￿. leadership and wisdom of
the President, Sister Bibi Khan in steering a dynamic, progressive, and unique organisation. It
was noted that since the covid pandemic all classes, madrassah and lectures have reduced
numbers and sometimes continue online or numbers reduced. There has been no increase in

LONDON ISLAMIC CULTURAL SOCIETY
Treasurer's Re
ort
It is with great pleasure that I present this report and accounts of the London Islamic Cultural Society for the
year ended 31, March 2024. The nett surplus of £35,047 makes this a very successful year. With out the
dedication and support of our steadfast members and supporters of the LICS it would not have been possible
to achieve such a successful year.
The main points in the accounts are
l. Gift Aid
£123,600 gifted during the year. A further amount of £30,900 is to b¢ reclaimed
from the Inland Revenue being basic rdte tax paid on the amount gifted.
2. De
reeiation
£3,824. This is fixtures and equipment as shown in the balance sheet plus
additions of £950 being d¢pr¢ciated at 20 % per annum on a rcducing balance.
3. Re
airs and Renewals - £13,950 electricals had to be updated and brought up to code which resulted
in the addition cost.
4. PA and CCTV- £17,052. The PA system had to be updated and this resulted in most of the cost.
5. Maintenance buildin
£17,635 most of the internal paint was pale and dated and had to be
repainted, resulting in the higher figure.
The Mosque cultural centre may be free of debt but we still need to raise funds to pay for the upkeep and the
repairs and maintenance of the centr¢. In order to maximise your donations I would like to remind you of the
most efficient ways of making donations are.
Gift Aid
This is the easiest and most popular way for tax payers to make payments io
Lharities. A donor makes payment (s) to the charity.. for each £1 donated the charily can reclaim from
the Inland Revenue 25p. The government has made this very simple (a) No forn]s to fill in. (b) No
minimum amount. All that is needed is for the donor to be a lax payer and requesting that their
donation be treated as gift Aid.
Roll Givin
Employers are allowed to run these schemes under which an employee can make
donations to a charity Ot"their choice. The donation is deducted from your pay and passed to the charity
by your employer. PAYE is calculated oli your salary after making the deduction so that you are
etTectiv¢ly getting immediate tax relief on the donation at your highest tax rate.
Peopl¢ who complete Self Assessment Tax returns will be able to nominate a charity to receive all or part of
any repaymeni due to them. The donation will be paid direct to the Charity Bank account and tax will be paid
without the charily having to make a claim.
Your donations to various charities throughout the year helped many homeless and starving people in various
countries. We are please to announce that £51,500 was given to countries of your choice. May Allah reward
you all and make it possiblc for you to continu¢ h¢lping thc less fortunate,
Th¢ Trustees would like to thank all brothers and sisters for their dedication and support. May Allah guide us
all and give us the strength and wisdom so that we may continue our work for the furth¢rance of Islam and
working7 Wlth the community.
