With 20 Children,
2 staff away doing 6 weeks work experience in another school plus another staff member needing a long time off from work due to her husband being very ill. Fortunately, offers of help meant that the kindergarten could continue to support the children and their families.
We have 12 children who are EAL.
2 x Greek, 2 x Turkish, Urdu, Arabic, Albanian, Chinese, Italian, Norwegian, Hungarian, Russian.
Also, one child with SEND
Events - Jackie and her daughter Jodie helped us to organise another Advent Fair - the feedback was very positive - it felt that this was a St Albans kindergarten event instead of a Kings Langley event as so many past pupils came.
We organised an Inset day, which we offered to the wider community- Eve Richbell - New Eyes New Ears. Offering different ideas on how to observe and
reflect on the needs of the individual child, and in turn ideas on how we can support that child.
We ran holiday camps both last Summer and during the Easter holidays, again past pupils came back to do crafts and some of the kindergarten activities. We were very busy.
Finances are that we made a profit of £3,051 in the year ending May 2024. At the moment we have £37000 in the bank.
Due to having two students on the Sheffield course we are being paid £14,000
The room we rent has increased to approx. £10,000 a year. Steiner/ Waldorf membership £550 a year. Training courses now to be done every other year for everyone - Child protection (£30 each) food hygiene (£30 each). First Aid every 3 years (£100 each). All costs have increased.
We have had work done in the garden to cut back excess growth £450 Whilst, doing a ‘spring clean’, we found moths so spent £65 on tobacco to hopefully eradicate them.
Lucynda continues to do the Web page and Facebook.
Thank you all for being trustees and supporting us.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of St Albans Steiner Kindergarten Limited (Company No. 04410731 )
I report on the accounts of the company for the year ended 31 August 2025, which are set out in the attached document.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The trustees (who are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company law) are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed. The charity's gross income has not exceeded £250,000 and I am qualified to undertake the examination by being a qualified member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants.
Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
-
(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 386 of the Companies Act 2006; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records, comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the Companies Act 2006 and with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities
have not been met; or
- (2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
