St Albans Steiner Kindergarten

Agm For the Kindergarten Trustees.

May 30[th] 2024.

The Aim of the kindergarten is to provide a Waldolf/Steiner affordable for all, early years facility within the local community in St Albans.

The kindergarten is open to any child aged between 2-5 years.

The Kindergarten is eligible for 2, 3,4 years old funding from Hertfordshire, either for 15 or 30 hours. This is the main source of income other than fundraising.

15 children attending kindergarten. Parent and Child; 10 regular families,

Present staff at Kindergarten

Zanna Millicheap, MA in Early Years and Steiner trained Early years teacher.

Nadine Greening, Early Years Teacher, Forest School Trained. Saskia Mills has finished her apprenticeship, NVQ3 in Early Years.

Kasia Anderson is planning to attend the post grad Steiner teachers training course in September.

Dawn Hudson, is a Drama and Music teacher with an NVQ3 in Early Years

Karen Pullin is a counsellor, adolescent mental health Anna Chilliyan, has an NVQ3 in Early Years and has been volunteering at kindergarten, which has been a huge help.

The new build of the community centre has been put on hold for financial reasons.

Fundraising; we ran an Advent Fair in Kings Langley, we raised £3000. Many past families and friends came to help. It was a large community event, enjoyed by all, but definitely need more helpers on the day.

We also did a Midsummer event in the kindergarten’s garden, but this year the weather was so hot, that we had very few attendees, so made a loss financially. Will reconsider next year. Planning to do a raffle instead. Any money raised goes towards to upkeep of the kindergarten, costs of materials, repairing and supplies.

The Lantern festival, which we celebrated by decorating the kindergarten with lights followed by carrying our lanterns and singing in the park. This is very popular with past pupils as well as present families.

We are discussing if it’s possible for the kindergarten to expand.

Kindergarten has £31.000 in the bank account at present.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of St Albans Steiner Kindergarten Limited (Company No. 04410731 )

I report on the accounts of the company for the year ended 31 August 2024, which are set out in the attached document.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The trustees (who are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company law) are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed. The charity's gross income has not exceeded £250,000 and I am qualified to undertake the examination by being a qualified member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants.

Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to:

Basis of independent examiner's report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent examiner's statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:

have not been met; or

(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
