**keeping with the rules, regulations and**
**best practices of the national governing**
**body for swimming in England (Swim**
**England/ASA) to which the club is**

**full advantage of new facilities offered**
**by a move to Scarborough Sports**

**North Yorkshire Water Park where its**
**Open Water base is located.**
**It trains and develops volunteers on a**
**continual basis, who become**
**multiskilled and can assist the club**
**deliver best in class services for**
**members, and the local community, in**
**the pursuit of the fulfilment of its**

## **Financial Review**

**years with a new venue and pricing**
**structure the club has continued to**
**offset additional operational costs with**
**use of existing cash balances,**
**fundraising and prudent management of**
**other administrative expenditure where**
**possible.**
**During Covid-19 in 2020 the club**
**completed whilst closed due to public**
**health restrictions a complete overhaul**
**of the management, processing and**
**recording of membership information,**
**communications, invoicing and payment**
**processing with the installation of a new**
**management portal and switching to**
**cashless payments by direct debit to**
**increase efficiencies and reduce costs**
**and volunteer input in the running of the**
**club. This has resulted in a greater**
**focus of talent on provision of better**
**services.**
**A cash surplus has been maintained and**
**the club has benefited from a**
**Discretionary Grant from Scarborough**
**Borough Council and the**
**implementation of club support**
**measures reducing facility hire costs by**
**the pool operator Everyone Active in**
**conjunction with the council. This has**
**helped ensure the club can re-open**
**when permitted with reduced swimmer**
**numbers during the Covid-19 pandemic.**
**The club has also had great community**
**support from members, local residents**
**and businesses in the successful**
**promotion of its Christmas prize draw to**
**date which is raising money for the next**
**financial period to enable the club to**
**invest in equipment for the pool with the**
**addition of backstroke start ledges for 8**
**lanes and freestanding deck pace clocks**
**to assist those with a visual impairment**
**in timing calculations and performance**
**training.**|

## **KINGFISHERS SWIMMING CLUB CHARITY NUMBER 1093018 INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2020**
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Act and that an independent examination is needed
It is my responsibility to:
Examine the accounts (under section 145 of the Charities Act
To follow the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) and the Act, and
To state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the next statement.
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect:
The accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities act or
The accounts did not accord with the accounting records
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to obtain a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
