The object of the Trust is the rtheran￿ of the religious and other charitable activities of the church fellowship known as Dun¢an Road Church. During the year the Trust has supported the church fellowship which has met at the property occupied by the church, located in Duncan Road, Park Gate, Southampton, S0311 BD. The charitable aim of Duncan Road Church 15 the advancement of the Christian religion. The truslees have considered the Charity Commission's guidan￿ on public banefil, particularly the guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. With its activities the church aims to both intrtsjuce individuals to the Christian faith and to support and encourage existing believers The church has continued to welcome new visitors attending the Sunday moming All Age Service. Many of the visitors from previous years continue to attend Sunday servic8s, some on a fairly frequent basis. We continue to be encouraged by new visitors attending the All Age Service and hope to see some of these visitors make the decision to b8come formal members of the Church. Our mi¢thYeek meetings continue to be well received by the local community, with many regulars attending our children's activities on a weekly basis. A variety of midweek meetings cater to the needs of children, young people. carers with young children, parents & toddlers. as well as meetings for men and women of all ages. During the year th8 All Age Service continued to be held each Sunday morning, wilh a live-stream available on YouTube. Services are also made available for on4emand viewing on YouTube after the event, to help meet the needs of those unable to join in for the livestream or those that wish to watch the service again at a later date. Our weekly house group for Bible study and prayer has also continued. The trust is currently managed by only trustees, which is a recognised risk that we are Seeking to mitigate. We have identified a few candidates for this role and are currently working to change the legal stnjcture of the charity to a Charitable Inwrporated Organisation ICIOI at the same time. This work has been delayed due to a land transfer transaction that was targeting completion before changing the legal structure of the trust. Financial Revie The Receipts and Payments Account for the year ended 31 October 2025 is attached on page 3. The Account shows a deficit for the year of £8,778 (2024.. a surplus of £1,799) and funds, balan￿S carried forward of £87,581 represented by amounts held on bank current and deposit accounts as well as cash. This is the first year that the trust has run at a deficil, which is a result of exceptional special project costs alongside significantly increased operating costs and speaker gifts. Receipts General receipts, such as from collections and donations, increased by £79 over the previous year's amounts. Gift Aid tax recovered decreased by £44 and other income increased by £557. Payments Overall costs have increased by £12,657 compared to the previous year. The church building & equipm8nt has continued to be maintained, including the full redecoration of the church buildings at a cost of £5,235. Legal fees associated with the land transfer and CIO conversion have incurred costs of £5,725. Speaker costs have also increased due to timing of payments spanning year end, as well as an exceptional payment correction that was made during the 2024-25 financial year in order to address an underpayment issue covering the previous 3 years. We expect this to stabilise in the next financial year. Funds Following the deficit for the year, funds balanc8s have decreased to £87.581 at year end. All funds are represented by a General Unrestricted Fund. There are no designated or restricted funds in place at year end. Exce tional os Additional exceptional costs were incurred this financial year due to a few long-standing projects being completed. Vve have redecorated the interior of the church buildings, which has brought additional costs of £5,235. Additionally, the trust engaged the services of Edward Connor Solicitors to provide legal advice on the church trust documents in preparation for converting to a CIO, as well as providing legal advice and conveyancing ServI￿S to transfer the church car park land to Westem Counties Trust. This brought additional costs of £5,725. The main land and buildings were already held by Westem Counties Trust, and the car park land transfer now ensures that all land and buildings used by Duncan Road Church are under the ownership of Westem Counties Trust. Duncan Road Church continues to enjoy full use of the land and buildings under the same Memorandum of Understanding as has been used for many years. Since the Trust's income is from voluntary donations which are variable, some level of general unrestricted reseNes are needed to ensure that funds are available to meet expenditure commitments. The trustees, policy is lo hold an amount equivalent lo no more than 6 month's typical expenditure in the General Fund. However ttte Irustees are considering appointing a partffjjll time pastor to assist the church in its ministry. Any person appointed would be an employee of the church. The church is in the process of changing the legal strudure to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation to prepare for this change. Such an appointment will need ongoing funding for several year5 to support the post, over and above the current level of income that is donated. As a result reserves are being retained to cover such potential ongoing additional costs. The trustees, policy on investing the funds of the Trust is that fijnds not needed to meet day to day expenses will be held in an interestoaming deposit account. The trustees has previously chosen to hold such funds in an interest-earning account with Kingdom Bank, which is a Christian bank aligned to the purpose of the church. With the steady reduction in interest rates, and the opportunity for the Trust to eam higher interest through other banks, Ihe trustees decided to move all savings from Kingdom Bank to Lloyds Bank, where our current accounts are held.
