**Activities:** The Merchant Navy Association Harwich & District provides a meeting place for serving and retired Merchant Navy seafarers to meet and have social intercourse, receive welfare back up were necessary and socialise with other local exservicemens and civilian organisations. The association also has erected a memorial to british Merchant Navy Seafarers and continues to be responsible for its protection
